[News] What You Missed At Steelers

Yanda plays downright nasty and definitely needs to be extended. Brandon williams is such a force on defense and Darren waller needs more touches.

No if we can only give Waller some more looks we can really see what he can do. If he had the nerves to make that type of play late into the 4th then why cant we trust him earlier? just saying...

Yanda is fun to watch, that man is a big time mauler. It did not look like SSS was speared much by Mitchell, I think Mitchell slamming him on his back started the damage more than hit from behind and the Timmon hit later in the game made it worse. There is no question that B.Wiliams is a major bulldozer in the trenches but that video looked like Steelers let him go by to block linebackers on a quick pass. Glad he was able to get a piece of Vick on that play. Good play by Waller, hope to see him get better and get more plays. Who knows, maybe Waller will do more damage. Gonna be fun seeing how Givens and the rest of receivers perform without SSS which I think they will do just fine.

Waller needs to be huge or the Ravens season is going to come crashing down. Him and Aiken, along with the young tight ends need to step up. Defense needs to be more consistent.

All good points. Steve Smith is a warrior unlike namby pamby Perriman who is milking his "injury" for all it is worth. If there was any doubt about which lineman should be kept, Yanda or Osemele, this game should have made it a landslide for Yanda. Osemele has played mediocre after reall good seasons past. Urschel is ready and able to fill the Osemele void. Waller should be over Marlon Brown. I liked Brown but he has been a disappointment this year so far. Give the new guy a chance. Brandon Williams fills the Ngata hole nicely. He is younger and hungrier (unless you count Farm Store chicken). Right call to let spoiled Ngata walk (0-4 Detroit)and let Williams play.

How do you possibly know the extent of the injury, and how can you say he is milking it, you honestly think he doesn't want to be out there.

Need Waller's size in the Red Zone - hopefully he can get open consistently for Joe. Williams is proving to be a real beast on the DL; not only eats up 2 blockers at a time, he still gets penetration in the pocket.

Where are the so called Steelers fans for the OT period?  How do you leave an OT game vs your hated rival at home? That's just pathetic!!!!

Watch the left side of the shot on the Yanda block on Tuitt and Forsett 33 yd gain. That's some excellent skill displayed by my man Hurst. *Literally* just getting in the way of James Harrison. LOL

Oz bring up Jeremy Butler, or Jeremy Ross.. At worst if your not going to sign someone...but 4 WRs is not enough with Aiken and Brown being 1,2

I like Waller and think hes a sleeper, the issue i find with him is that he is slow as hell. Wallers real speed (sub 4.4ish) isnt showing up on the field at all yet. Not sure if hes still trying to get the offense down or its a comfort issue but i would really like to see this kid humming because he has all the tangibles to be a breakout player. Size, Speed, Hands, Physicality...would be great to see him blossom while hes on the fast track with us. Brown is not getting it done it seems, huge letdown as i saw him as a budding player looking back. I do think that given our Running game stays intact that Waller, Aiken, Givens and Perriman could be a hell of a crew in time, not to mention another splash possibly...

Most overrated fan base in the history of the NFL. Just look at their home field attendance records since the Ravens started in 1996 and compare the 2. You'll know which team has the real support from real fans! The only thing I fail to understand is the media hype on such overrated fandom!

I have SO many fake Steelers fans as FB friends.  I'm posting this pic of their empty stadium on my timeline and asking them to explain.

It is because they have the most super bowl trophies in history. Fans always want to be a part of a winning team, even when they don't follow football at all they will say they like the Patriots and the Steelers but in reality they don't really follow them at all.. Happens in every sport... Cavs is an example. The only reason a lot of people call themselves Cavs fans is because of LeBron and they are doing well. The Heat a couple years ago is a prime example, a team not many people liked and they were the most overhyped for awhile. If you see the Patriots, Steelers, and most NFL teams that have a fan base who are used to winning their attendance will go down if they aren't doing so well.

1) he didnt begin learning how to deal with press coverage until the pads came on in training camp, beating press is one of the biggest separators between college and pro wr's. if he is jammed, he has no chance to show his speed

2) he has build up speed, and once he learns how to beat press and he gets the db on his hip instead of in his face, then he will be able to show his speed, as he will then have open field in front of him to build that speed.

I was at the game. When they sacked Joe on the 4th and 10 the place emptied out thinking it was over. Guess the "Steeler Nation" couldn't figure out the Ravens still had a shot to get the ball back. Great sitting there to see Tuck blast it through the uprights along with 20,000 Steeler Fans and over 40,000 empty seats.

had a feeling that's when most people left, bc that's when I almost turned my tv off.

Glad I didn't

I really feel like we'll be seeing Waller getting increasingly more snaps, especially with SSS likely missing time. I think he's got more to offer than Brown.

One area that I see him improving is when to stop his route and come to the ball. I've seen on a couple plays that he just continued the route and let his defender get between him and the ball and he couldn't get back to it. If he stops a second sooner, its a jump between him and his defender and that's one he should win.

Just throwing it out there. There are 5 teams that had to start the season with 3 of 4 on the road. The Chiefs 1-3, Ravens 1-3, Eagles 1-3, Dolphins 1-3, Lions 0-4.

Just to augment your point, the Patriots before the various cheating scandals and subsequent wins and SBs had an attendance of a paltry 60-65% in 2000! Shows you what consistent winning (regardless of methodology) does.

we have a struggling wr corps but we use players in all the wrong ways. How come on goal line flacco is throwing fades to steve smith? why not a 6'5 marlon brown or a 6'6 darren waller (who has the speed to stretch the field) it just doesnt make sense. yea end arounds with camp are fun but he has that injury bug. we need to use who we have in the right situation

That is not at all uncommon at Heinz Field. Those fans are not only quick to leave early, sometimes they are actually invisible! If Pittsburgh plays meaningless games late in the season, half those seats are empty. They don't even seem to yell when their defend is on the field. They wave towels. Oooooh!

I'm not knocking Brandon Williams, he's no Ngata, but he is a beast. However, the gif in this article of him getting through the line is a designed screen play... which is why they LET him through the line. Notice the Steeler linemen peeling off to pick up blocks down field... The tag line "I swear there's a play like this every week" is an honest one, because screen plays are common place in the NFL every team has at least one... Football basics man, our writers need more of them...
