[News] Injury Updates On Breshad Perriman, Steve Smith Sr., Crockett Gillmore

80 posts in this topic

Crusader......while I get your attempted point, you missed mine completely. Which for you understanding is.....because you can't see the forest for the tress....you don't burn down the trees......which seems to be the theme on this blog...things are bad or there is an issue...fire a coach (or Ozzie).....or run out and spend dollars we don't have to fix a short term problem, thus mortgage the following year...

Com'on man, your better then that response.....

To call Perriman soft or honestly chastise him at all is unjust right now, the Ravens were entirely to coy with his injury and hung this man out to dry. Let him heal up properly and judge him once he gets on the field. I realize us Ravens fans aren't accustom to the start we are having right now, but some of you are way to quick to write this team off so quick. Lets take it game by game, our Ravens are going to protect their home field sunday, and go get after Kaeprnick the next week to get us to 3-3. Cardinals are going to be very tough, but Palmer is a sitting duck back there if blitzes and pressure can get there for us, its time for the D to start playing together and the Offense to get back ground and pound. Lets prove everyone wrong and turn this season around, RAVEN NATION

I just don't get it, he is injured, the number 7 pick White is out for the season, but i don't see their fans lamb basting him....And if you look around the league and see how many teams have lost multiple key starters for the year, we are pretty lucky....Just support the players who are on the field, and wish the injured ones a quick recovery.....It's not like they want to miss games or the season....Be a fan, not a hater....

Baffles me. The kids hurt and not cleared to play. What more can you do.

TEs have been a bright spot that aren't getting used enough. But I'm still wondering when are we going to get some Pitta news.

The fact he's drawn outrage from the fans does not seem fair. But realize there is a difference between White and Perriman and that is in the handling and reporting of the injury. Had it been reported within the first week or two what Perriman's injury was and that it would take him 2 months to recover, the negative reaction would have been minimal.

Instead, it has taken 2 months for us to even hear what his injury was. Shrouding the whole thing in mystery and having people thinking about when he's coming back day after day for months is a PR issue. What happens then is you get fans questioning his toughness.

Harbaugh does him little service in stating that this is the slowest healing PCL injury in history, even if he follows that with a comment that it isn't a knock against him. You can bet the naysayers in the fan base are most certainly going to take that as a knock against him. Once he does get on the field, there is going to be hand wringing around any bump or bruise this guy gets for the foreseeable future ... all because of the way the injury has been handled.

TEs have been a bright spot that aren't getting used enough. But I'm still wondering when are we going to get some Pitta news.

This is not a knock against Dennis.  He's a great player, and has had great moments here in Baltimore.  I met him at a charity event and I like him on and off the field.

BUT ... he is holding onto a valuable roster spot, and it is probably time to put him in IR and look at next year.  We have three pretty good tight ends, and not enough wideouts.  Put Pitta on IR and get a deep-threat receiver.

I am thinking we will need good blockers for the Browns game with Crockett being a bulldozer and equally good pass catcher and already being low on targets for Joe I would say yes we should have him in there if he can go

I can go along with that provided we're not "knee-jerking" them back too early! If you ask them, they will assuredly say "I'm ready", but if they are not quite healed, another week won't hurt them!

I say that because IMHO and whether we want to admit it, we're rebuilding this year!

And whom might that deep threat be?

I wish I knew.  Maybe there's nobody.  But if Pitta ends up not playing this year, or playing and getting hurt, then we essentially went through the year with a 52-man squad.  If he comes in and is productive, I will happily eat my words.

I would rather not get any information on B.Perriman until hes actually fully recovered and back in the lineup. Its getting really old hearing the same thing over and over. Even preschoolers now know what a PCL is

The WR's we have on the roster now just need to catch the ball when it is thrown to them.

This is the greatest advice for any WR corps at any time.

While Perriman is far from a bust at this early stage of his career we are growing beards waiting for him to take the field and show us something to convince us that we should have taken him over a safety or pass rusher in the first round.

Pitta is not on the 53 man roster. He is on the Reserve/Physically unable to perform.

"A player who finishes the preseason still on the PUP list can then be placed on the regular-season PUP list. Such players must sit out the first six games their team plays. At that point, teams have a five-week window in which to allow the player to begin practicing; from the day the player begins practicing, teams have an additional 21-day window in which to decide whether to activate the player to the 53-man roster. If either of those deadlines pass, the player must remain on the PUP list for the remainder of the season"

Well, that makes me feel better.  I didn't know that.  Thanks.

I thought players on the Pup list don't count against the roster until after week 6 then team has to make a roster spot or put the player on IR.. Because I remember the Ravens put pitta on pup list to make room during the roster cuts in training camp to save a cut body. With that being said, there are no deep threats out there to add to the roster. If the kid is healthy then let him play so teams can get a look at him maybe we can unload the contract come draft time.

Yeah, I was wrong about that.  Someone corrected me later.
