Quarterly Predictions

6 posts in this topic

4 weeks into a crazy season, we can now judge teams more accurately. lets predict!

as of now, my best teams for each conference are:

AFC: Bengals, Patriots, Broncos.

NFC: Packers, Falcons, Cardinals.

Wild cards(not seeding, but teams who will surprise us later on..):

Giants, Chargers.

First Round Byes:

Bengals & Patriots

Packers & Falcons

Seeding:

AFC:                                                  NFC:

1) Bengals                                         1) Packers

2) Patriots                                          2) Falcons

3) Broncos                                         3) Cardinals

4) Colts                                              4) Giants

5) Chargers                                       5) Panthers

6) Jets                                               6) Seahawks

Championship Predictions:

Chargers @ Bengals

Giants @ Packers

AFC playoffs: I predict that the Broncos ride a dominant first half of the season into the playoffs, Peyton begins to really play miserably in the final 4 games, and the Jets go into Denver and pull the upset in a low scoring, miserable game which features all field goals and 2 defensive touchdowns by the Jets. The Chargers get hot and make light work of the Colts in Indy. The Jets then get blown out by the Bengals in the divisional round, showing that they never really belonged in the playoffs in the first place, while the patriots regret letting go of darrelle revis, and in a shootout nailbiter, the chargers keep pace and the game is decided by a lone defensive play late in the 4th quarter, im saying brady feels some phantom pressure and throws a ball to Verrett in the 4 minute drill and the Chargers rebound and pull the upset. Then in the AFCCG the Bengals beat the Chargers in a game where the scoreboard doesnt indicate how close the game was, Chargers move the ball with ease but stall in the redzone and settle for field goals, while the bengals capitalize on every drive, win by 10-13 points.

NFC playoffs: Seattle looks average throughout the entire regular season, but backs into a 6th seed, when they go to ARI and the Cards take an early 2TD lead, then Carson Palmer chokes the game away in the 2nd half with a INT and sack-fumble, seahawks capitalize with 2 TD's to tie it up, each team exchanges TD drives in the 4th quarter, and Wilson orchestrates a beatiful 2 minute drill for the game winning FG. The Giants destroy the panthers, nothing complicated there. the Seahawks go to Lambeau and lose in a nailbiter, Aaron Rodgers doesnt light up the stat sheet but plays very smart while eddie lacy and the defense have a huge day, a few chunk plays decide this game. The Giants squeak by the Falcons in a shootout at the dome with ODB and julio jones each having 180+ yards, but reuben randle is the hero today with a miraculous game winning TD catch in the final 3 minutes, but when the falcons are driving, prince amukamara gets a game sealing pick. The Giants then go to Lambeau and simply defy mother nature, and outscore the Packers in a shootout. Look for ODB to have a postseason for the record books.

The Giants and Bengals then play the classic top seed vs underdog super bowl, the bengals stacked roster seems insurmountable but the giants keep the game in reach with big plays scattered throughout. A tipped pass is picked off allowing the giants to tie it up late, and Andy Daltons nerves finally get the best of him and he throws a late INT, and Eli pulls off another miraculous SB winning drive with dwayne harris being the unlikely hero, running a WR screen wide open into the endzone.

maybe i got too detailed. bold predictions, but i think this season will be filled with surprises, the typical juggernaut teams like patriots and packers get upset by inferior teams in the postseason, and we have a very memorable postseason full of entertainment.

No way the Bengals beat the Patriotw; Dalton will joke like usual with stalled offense....Brady just needs 20pts to win the game....

last year i would agree with you. but this year i think its a different story for both teams. the bengals offensive line can render the patriots front seven nearly useless, and last year they had the best secondary in the league, they have regressed in the secondary big time, they dont have any way to counter the firepower and balance from a team like the bengals, while the bengals have the talent and toughness on offense AND defense to compete with any team in the league.

i know we hate the bengals and we love to taste the delicious tears of bengals fans when dalton chokes the game away, but im thinking those days may be behind us, Dalton is looking like hes matured a bit and their entire roster is in sync and firing on all cylinders, i think this is the year they get over that hump.

TLDR; were conditioned to think the bengals are a joke, but they are the real deal now.

I'd argue that they aren't the real deal until they actually prove it when it matters. If they win in the playoffs, then I'll say they're the real deal.

my TLDR was an oversimplification, im not saying theyre definitely gonna be winning the super bowl, just a prediction based on what ive seen so far.
