[News] Joe Flacco Reacts To Wide Receiver Losses

87 posts in this topic

Camp is listed as 5'9"

ok 3 inches. Athletes always have conflicting measurables listed from place to place, that's not new.

Givens is still not "towering" over any one, 6'0" is still short for a receiver, and the point still stands.

so funny how some guys just challenge me for the sake of challenging and then get mad and down vote when they fail to make the point they thought they were going to, lol.

Oh, I thought this was an article about Flacco missing Anquan and Torrey, our last two legitimate receivers aside from SSS

Flacco is probably wishing someone else was picking his WRs than Oz- no offense, Oz. You're good at drafting lineman though.

Scott Garceau of 105.7 "The Fan" suggested that it might be a good idea to try to trade for Anquan Boldin, who isn't looking too happy playing for the 49ers. I think that would be a great idea! I wonder if someone could put a bug in Ozzie's ear? It would be great to have Q back. The team just hasn't been the same since he left.

Marlon needs to listen to some old Ray Lewis speeches or someone needs to be building his confidence. He looked terrible in Pitt, but we know from his rookie year that he has the talent. He needs to hit the jugs machine, believe in himself and go do it. He seems to be hearing footsteps.

no need to put a bug in his ear- every possible option has been exhausted when it comes to Ozzie you can believe that. He's probably replayed every scenario over in his head hundreds of times. Don't you think that if us fans have an idea that the guy who gets paid to do it and is extremely successful probably has already thought of it.?

Yeah Marlon really need to step up ASAP. He's been dropping balls and not contributing for a while......

Can't get a WR to the Pro Bowl running up the middle all the time! "ELITE " QBs don't wait on the running game the running game catches up to the QB! I've seen brady beat the squeelers throwing the rock 20 plus strait times on a Monday night in squeeltown when the squeelers were at the top of their game like Brett Favre did the Ravens that one year and torched them for 445yds! Want a Pro Bowl WR?! THEN OPEN IT UP! Unlike some of you I feel we can get it done with whom we have now but they are not being utilized correctly to the best of their abilities because Marlon isn't running post patterns or anything like that to create separation they send him down 10yds and put him in the middle of a defense and want a miracle! STOP IT!

Hey, M. Brown has done it before. I don't want to discount him yet. I think, as long as we can catch, which is the main thing these receivers work on, that and of course, getting open, we'll be alright. I'd just be thankful, we have Cleve. and S.F. coming along instead of San Diego or Seattle. Hopefully we'll be ready for them when we get to them on the schedule. Maybe we'll have Sr. back in a month...Stay Tuned...until this time next week, we'll have to hope we don't have further bad news on the injury front, especially at WR.

I'm surprised Marlon Brown didn't capitalize on his opportunities. I have been waiting for him to bounce back from a putrid sophomore year.

Too early to give up on Marlon.  Didn't SSS have a lot of drops last year.  Season's still young.  Just needs to get comfortable.  In a way it might be good to have Sr out for now.  Joe won't be able to use him as a crutch so often.

I am curious to see if Ozzie makes a play for a veteran WR or if he'll ride with our current dudes throughout the season. I'm not taking anything from our current guys' potential, but at what point do we make a move?

So IR return is different from pre season to regular season.  Dennis is due back at seven weeks from regular season game one.  Is that right?  Whats the rule?

I found out right away that he is out for the whole year once on IR

I voted you uppp..       SSS is the same size and we all appreciate his results

Pitta is on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List, not IR.

Placing a player on PUP grants a roster exception for a player placed on it at the beginning of the regular season for up to 6 weeks at which point the player must either be rostered or placed on Injured Reserve. You can place as many playesr as you like on the PUP list up until the Season starts.

Only one player may be placed on Injured Reserve with a return designation. the return designation grants a roster exception for the player but prohibits the player from playing OR practicing with the team for 6 weeks. After the 6 weeks, they can return to practice, but they cant be activated until after another two weeks, so its a total of 8 games missed.

We already granted that designation to Brent Urban at the start of the season.

Thanks .  I forgot he was pup  My bad

Didn't we her this last year? Marlon "snuck" up on teams his first year. Hasn't been consistent since. Who is responsible for that?

I have to say that I am a bit displeased with the FO; they have failed miserably to give Flacco the weapons he deserves to showcase his ability. They better make some moves quick!!

To clarify, it means that he would have been able to return from the injury this season, however we placed him on IR to clear some room for Givens, so he can't return this season even when he heals up. I think the coaches are increasingly frustrated with his injuries, as they could have cleared room some other way but instead put perhaps their 2nd best receiver on IR.

Thanks for replying/clarifying on Campanaro :-)

Ultimately, it's his responsibility, but the fact still remains that if you're not being targeted somewhat consistently, then you're going to have a harder time getting comfortable so your consistency will suffer as well.  Could be wrong.

We can surmise forever. Is he not targeted because he isn't open? Drops balls? Gets tackled too easily? All the above?

I don't like to give up on someone.   Especially when I don't think they've had a fair enough shot.  I think Joe tends to latch onto certain players like Sr to throw to and as I said, he dropped a lot of passes as well.  Marlon may not be a #1 or even #2, but  he has the kind of talent that could be worth cultivating.  The only way to find out is to give him more shots at the ball.  Maybe with Sr out, he'll be given the opportunity.  We'll see.
