[News] Late For Work 10/5: Four Reasons Ravens Make Another WR Trade, Potential Candidates

124 posts in this topic

Joe needs to put the ball up where Waller can reach over the db and bring it in. I know we're talking WRs but did Forsette seem a lot quicker when he attacked the line of scrimmage last game?

definitely need another receiver that has a history of being reliable. maybe the niners would be willing to part ways with boldin for a 6th? none of the players mentioned above intrigues me as they are the same as marlon and kamar which we do not need. to get a descent receiver than the fo would need to pony up a solid draft pick like a 3rd or 4th. im pretty sure they will at least wait until after the browns game to see how these guys do before they make another move.

I'm Sure Joe would LOVE to have those guys back. SSS, Q, and Torrey, Now that would actually be a Receiving Corp. Can't Knock on Q or Torrey, those guys are playing for a gutted team, with a horrible passing QB, of course their numbers are down. SSS, no question he will play through the pain, not a tougher guy in the NFL than our Leader.

Four reasons for another trade? Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown, Darren Waller, and Breshad Perriman.

i with you man. even with sss how could the fo look at this group and believe they were good enough. flacco is praying for a big trade

I think Robert Meachem is a free agent, why not try him out?

What does he bring to the table?

I'm always intrigued listening to fans play up the talent of guys who are currently unemployed...

The clock is ticking and as each week goes by it gets more crucial. SSS can only do so much. Rushing him back prematurely out of necessity could lead to us losing him for even longer. Whether it's going out via trade/free agency to find help or simplifying the offense, we need to do something before it's too late.

Your Man is the one that put the Ravens in this position. Ravens will not get a big time receiver. Never had ,never will.

Probably don't need one either. There aren't too many big time receivers walking around with championship rings right now...

Actually we should inquire SF for Boldin and give a 7th... That would be epic!

So everyone wants to trade for a legit receiver...but what team in their right mind would do so? How many trades have happened in season involving good WRs in recent years? Percy Harvin? And look at his background. Its not going to happen. We have just had bad luck at receiver. I think Perriman would have made a big difference for us if he didn't get injured. Now when he comes back we will be lucky to get anything since he hasn't seen any action. Just need to do some patch work and hope someone can play decent, and hope we pick up/draft another weapon.

Yep.  Let's hope we can stay relatively healthy with the 4 WRs we have left and that someone steps up.  Seemed like when SSS went out against Pitt Joe spread the ball around a bit more.  Not sure if that's a result to Trestman not going to that well one too many times and calling a play desigend for Steve on every passing down or if it just opened things up a bit.  Who knows.  Do I think we could pick up a realtively decent receiver before the deadline?  Maybe.  But at the end of the day we've been bit by the injury bug, and it doesn't look too promising.  Let's hope we can scheme to our strengths and get the O clicking.

Implied based on draft status and the abysmal mediocrity of the guys behind him.

There isn't a realistic fan of this team that thinks Kamar Aiken wins an open competition with Perriman for the #2 WR role on this team.

Aiken is the #2 because Perriman is injured. Its pretty cut and dry.

actually before the season most of the insiders around camp said that Aiken had legitimately earned the #2 spot and they weren't going to just give it to perriman just bc of his draft position. However not so sure how long that would have lasted. Hopefully the Pittsburgh game gave him a little confidence boost.

Royal and Lockette sound pretty good.  I wouldn't pick up any Washington receiver outside of Garcon, and there's no way in hell they're letting him go.  I agree that Oz will probably wait to see how things look after the Cleveland game.  The thing I worry about is SSS having those microfractures in his back.  He as tough as they come, but he is 36 and that is not an easy injury to deal with.  I would hate to see him come back too soon and either not play at his best or sustain another injury.

.

Surprised that the official Ravens website thought a meme mocking former Ravens was appropriate. The 49ers have the same record as us. We were the laughing stock last week, when we were 0-3.

I actually thought it was pretty funny and didn't see anything wrong with it. Not that it even matters but we are in a much better position than San Fran right now. And if anything it was mocking kaepernick- certainly wasn't mocking Torrey or boldin. His qb play has been pretty awful and has been a hot topic lately. Edited by January J

I'm thinking we may go after Wes welker- only bc we wouldn't have to give anything up and could get him for the vet minimum. He also brings more veteran experience which we are lacking at the position , and he kind of fits the mold of campanaro. Although givins is supposedly his replacement so idk. I'd much rather have someone else and I'm def not a fan of his, but it would be better than nothin. If it was up to me my top options would be Vincent Jackson, Alshon Jeffrey, Anquan boldin, Ricardo lockette, or even Reggie Wayne. Of course its pretty evident none of this will happen, but it's fun to imagine.

Not everyone, just those who don't know how these trades go down ;)

Andre Roberts would be awful. Eddie Royal the bears just signed and had a significant role in their last game. Ricardo Lockette wouldn't make an impact. We need a proven WR. If we want to take this season seriously we should deal a 3rd Round Pick for someone who we could sign and move forward with if Steve Smith is retiring in 2016.

vincent Jackson fits that mold. He also hasn't ever had a quarterback so he's probably underrated. Good size, has some vet experience. I don't see Ozzie making anymore moves anytime soon but one can dream. Who knows maybe he will shock everybody and do something off the wall.

After what his wife said about Ray Lewis when we beat them during the championship run? That'd be tres awkward, no?

But other than personality and history, it does make sense.

We've got two phenomena we can't forget about.

(1) The 1-3 and 0-4 teams in the league whose GMs have thrown in the towel and are already trying to stock for next year.

(2) snatching players off of other teams practice squads when they leave a WR exposed. Think John Simon and the Texans.

I guess Philip Rivers is no one special

Vincent Jackson would make a lot of sense, but i just looked at his contract and he is making 12 Million a year.

Yeah, he's not a realistic option. Have to cut probably a half dozen players just to afford him.
