Ravens Make the Playoffs? (Merged)

So hear me out...
Our chances of making the playoffs are slim. However, the rest of the AFC is losing, keeping us close in the wild card race.
The Jets, Steelers, Bills, Texans, Colts, Titans, Chargers, and Browns all lost today. If we were to win tomorrow, here's the Wild card standings...
5th Seed: Jets (4-2)
6th Seed: Steelers (4-3)
7. Dolphins, Raiders (3-3)
9. Bills. (3-4)
10. Chiefs, Browns, Texans, Jaguars, Chargers, Ravens (2-5).

We'd be 2 games back... The AFC woes are keeping in this thing. If by some miracle we start playing the way we should, and finish games, we have a shot! I'm not counting us out just yet, but a loss tomorrow against the tough cardinals would be a big blow.

Playoffs? Let's win a game sometime this month first.
Even if we survive what I think will be an epic game tomorrow night, we're still far behind some very talented teams in the race. It's over. We are playing for pride from here on out

you musta slept in math class.  11-5 is the best POSSIBLE outcome at this point in time.

if we can beat the cards then i guess anything is possible.

gonna be the best team we faced so far.

Honestly, I wouldn't be upset with 8-8. That's still not a losing season. I like to win. I know it feels better to get that high pick, but I hate the idea of having a losing culture. It doesn't sit right with me. I would love to have Hargreaves, Ramsey, or Bosa or Stanley or someone like that on this team, but I'm not sure I could stomach the idea of us losing to get them.

Playoffs are still mathematically possible. We need some fire on this team in order for us to get there, however.

Wow there's only 5 teams in the AFC above .500 that Raiders and Browns loss really hurt

3-5 Into the bye and 5-3 afterwards and it's very possible we could sneak in that 6th spot with the current state of the afc. Gotta show we even have the ability to win games first though. Like I said before- tonight could be our jump off point or our death bed. Edited by January J

Yeah mathimatically we still have a chance, but if we want to have a chance we have to win today, though it sounds like this has been a reoccuring theme.

The BEST possible outcome for this season is a 8-8 record, 8-8 teams don't deserve to be in the playoffs. I'd rather get into the playoffs off of merit, no because every other team is awful. If we make the playoffs this year the only thing we'd get out of it would be an embarrassing blowout and a "one and done Bengals" like playoff performance. And we'd lose out on a good pick.

I don't care how we get into the playoffs, what matters is how you play when you get there. And everybody knows we get hot when we make it to the dance. And I would love nothing more than for the bengals to get all excited about winning the north and then knock them out one and done just like we did the steelers last year. That would be the perfect payback. An 8-8 record and we could sneak in. 3-5 and 5-3 or even 2-6 and then 6-2 with the friendly second half of the schedule. We could get things figured out after the bye week and possibly have pitta and perriman in the mix, I know it's kind of silly for me to be holding on to hope when we've showed no signs of improvement - but im doing it anyway. sue me.

7-9 might honestly be good enough for a wildcard.

Don't think we get 7 wins though.

Bubble burst time. We're to far in the whole. 4 teams are guaranteed to make it as division Champs then 2 wild cards. Steeters have a significant lead and so do the Jets. This team couldn't beat the Browns at home or the Niners. What makes you all think we'll just peel off wins, to overtake 2 teams with a decent lead ahead of us? Rams, Chargers, Seahawks Cardinals, Steelers(with Ben) and Bengals. How many of those games do people realistically see us winning now?

Yea, there is a chance we'll make it, like there is a chance I'll win the powerball and build a vault full of gold coins to swim in...

yeah seems like it's been a " must win" ever since week 3 against Cinci. I think it's safe to say this time really is.

If we lose this game, we better tank for higher draft pick...

Not this crap again....

We may not be mathmatically done....but i think we are.  I just dont think this team can compete given the state of our roster, injuries, and the way our defense is playing.  Im not being a negative ned, just being a realist.   Hope im wrong though.

Tonights game i can see going either way, i wouldnt be shocked if we pulled one out and upset the Cards, i also wouldnt be shocked if we get blown out.  But i think its going to be a 31-20 ish type of game

I'll be more disappointed in the team tanking for a draft pick than I would if they tried their best and just lost anyway

“The season isn't going as well as #ravensnation would like, but I'm not interested in being traded to a "Contender".  Its week 7 not the Superbowl you can't guarantee anything in this league but I know when I left #panthernation I wanted to be a raven because I was born to be @ravens I'm happy right where I am.”

Welp!  Looks like that questions been answered and doesn't need to be addressed N E MORE!

While I agree that we just need to make it to the dance; I can't get with the "get hot" statement because we no longer have the same "caliber" of players that had the ability to "get hot" on our roster J.  I just don't see that in or from these present-day Ravens man!

Same here!  Sure, I'm pissed over how the Ravens have played and looked in the process of 6 weeks BUT I want them to fight and give their all in EVERY game!

"Significant lead" would equal two games if we win tonight.

IF we win tonight... if...

I expected to win the next 2, after the Steelers win and most likely lose to the Cards. There is nothing that has shown me were capable of beating this Arizona squad. 2 very winnable games were dropped. Realistically, we're going to need 10 wins to make post season. Does anyone really see this team going 9-1 the rest of the way? If we had pulled out even 1 of the last 2 losses, I might have faith. I don't expect them to lie down and die, but playoffs are dead. I'm just hoping I get glimpse of Perriman before it's up.

every game we have played so far has been close and we have been 1 stop by the defense or 1 game winning drive by the offense away from winning the game.

either 1 or both could possibly get over the hump and get the job done at some point this season lol.

This is true.  Just very doubtful.

Only 1 1-6 team has ever made the playoffs and they needed Bill Walsh to invent the West Coast Offense in order to do so.

I don't like tanking. It installs a losing mentality that's hard to get rid off. I'd rather just purely suck to get a higher draft pick.

But that's the point many people have been making. We may not need to go 9-1. It is certainly possible that we will, but it more than realistic to think that there will be a wildcard or two with single digit wins this year. We've made it at 9-7 not that long ago, and two years ago the Steelers were a missed KC field goal away from making it at 8-8. I see nothing about this season in the AFC that screams only 10-win teams have a chance.

Yes, I was typing out of frustration. Ideally, don't want the team to go out with losing mentality which will lead to disaster mental habit for the future.  We rather suck and lose all the way than tanking....

Tanking is bad.....my devil advocate did a good job of letting me loose on saying "tank".....

Its cool. I typically type things out of frustration I don't typically mean myself. I could understand.

Reality is that we have not far enough into the season to say it's impossible.  We'll let you know, OK?

Ok please do. I know we have a mathematical chance and I am a big believer in chances. But, considering the way both our offense and defense has played and the way the coaches have coached, wouldn't it be really far fetched to assume there is a chance we beat incredible mathematical odds and make the playoffs? It would technically perhaps mean that we may have to win out to get that wild card spot, because I think the Bengals are definitely not going 5-5 over the next 10 games. They'll do better than that which leaves us out of contention as AFC North champion even if we win out...

Let's assume we do lose this game. Then we tank the rest of the season? For who? Remember there is no Andrew Luck to tank for. If there was Andrew Luck as a potential draft choice next year, I think a lot of fans would be big proponents of tanking the season to get such a phenomenal talent. But, who do you really tank for? There in lies the problem.

I would be pretty optimistic with 5-5. That would be a great place to start. If we do beat Arizona, I believe we can win three straight.

Don't we usually get in there the hard way????  Via Wildcard???  Call me an eternal optimist, but I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing.

We beat the Cards and Chargers, we're 3-5. Then bye. Then vs jags, vs Rams, @dolphins and @Browns. We could be 7-5. Then we have vs Seahawks, vs, Chiefs, vs Steelers, @Bengals. The Seahawks, Steelers, and Bengals will be the hardest. I believe we still can do this. 10-6 gets us into the playoffs. 9-7 May. The last 4 games will make or break us.
