Hopefully they'll be able to retain Tucker and the guys up front (Yanda, Osemele) with all the dead money they retrieve next year.

But would it be smarter to tag him in order to retain some of our other guys? I'm not too savvy when it comes to the cap and things like that so I'm not sure. Id absolutely love nothing more than to get him locked up for the next 5 years or so but I also want what's best for the team. However losing him is something we have to avoid at all costs. I do know that at this point I'd much rather have yanda over k.o... They made that decision easy for us.

Either way we absolutely have to retain tucker and yanda. That's a no brainer.

The longer we wait, the bigger price tag he gets......Superstar don't just drop on our lap.......We  need to make it it a priority before we have to deal with Joe's contract next year...

I think the longer we wait to extend him the worse it'll be. Just pay him. He's a kicker.

But what can we do now for JT w/ only $1.2M left under the cap?

Agreed, lock the dude up. And, since you mentioned it, Mr Flacco better be SOOOOOOO open to helping the team out financially next year.

We don't need to add onto the cap this year to extend him.

At a $2.3M cap hit, not exactly easy to actually reduce his cap number or even keep it the same.

I doubt Tucker is looking to leave, so extending him in the offseason shouldn't be all that hard. He will make in the ballpark of $5M a season.

That's what was discussed over the summer,  4 years, $5mil. a year.

Why do you need to give him an extension that changes his deal this year? I recall extensions in the past that didn't affect the current salary of the player for their current year. I might've missed something, but I don't see why you can't extend him with no increase this year. His new salary would begin next year.

You absolutely can.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking he would probably want a signing bonus this year if he agrees to an extension for 2016?

Not necessarily. I have no idea what he wants. It's possible it could go either way.

Just get the pen to the paper and make it happen. I don't think he's going anywhere, but it would be nice to eliminate all doubt and rest easy for the next handful of years. I never buy a jersey of a player on their rookie deal because of the lack of security on the team, but my finger has been hovering over the mouse, ready to click "purchase" as soon as a new deal is signed.

Tucker has earned Raven his way to a veteran contract.  He's as good as they come. Great range too.

However, I hate and will always be for the abolishment of the Salary Cap. Kill it! Kill it!

Trade Tucker for Julio Jones.

As highly as I regard Tucker, yeah, might have to think about that one. But the dirty birds won't.

Would you trade Tucker for Antonio Brown? Steelers need kicker help. Lol. Yes, this is entirely hypothetical and will never happen, for those of you who feel the need to constantly remind others of realism.
