[News] Official Update On Steve Smith Sr.'s Injury

If either Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady had the receiving corps that Flacco has been reduced to now, they would win. Brady made a star out of Julian Edelman. Rodgers lost Jordy Nelson and he plays likes he never had him. Start earning your money, Joe.

As much as I love Ozzie, he cannot draft or build a receiving corps that gives Joe a chance. Brady or Rodgers couldn't win with the receivers Joe has. We bet the farm on a 36 yr old and a rookie who hasn't seen the field. Teams now can just stuff the run. We just wont pick up any free agents, and there were some good ones available for cheap. Its perplexing for sure. Why not pick up Wes Welker til SSS gets back?. He is still reliable.

Wes is a concussion player.  I like him too, but that stigma lingers on for his status

The good news is that Kamar Aiken had a good game in Pittsburgh. He made some nice catches and had separation at times. I know that Pittsburgh's secondary is shaky but I think Aiken needed a game like that. Hopefully Givens comes here and plays well and Gilmore gets back healthy for the Browns game.

Hope Givens can get up to speed on the playbook and that Crockett gets healthy. Browns' defense won't be a cakewalk by any stretch.

browns always play us tough. i hope manziel starts that game. i am confident pees could come up with a game plan to force him into turnovers. if flacco can connect on at least 1 deep pass to givens against the brown stains it will open things up for the run game and play action moving forward

Breshad Perriman's slow recovery may be related to Osgood-Schlatter Disease, a uncomfortable knee inflammation among adolescents. The pain level varies from patient to patient. Breshad, his Dad, and two older brothers had this condition. The link below provides more information. Let's hope he grows out of it and has a productive NFL career like his father.

This is the first time reading about a player in the NFL that I heard HIPPA was used. Micro factors in bones most likely is ribs. There is nothing to you can do but wrap it up. PR people forget there are nurses and doctorsas that are Ravens fans. Stop thinking we Ravens fans are stupid. The opponents all ready know nor care much.

with all that said he was a 4th round pick or lower and fans wonder why Ravens are having issues.

Givens was picked in the '12 draft two spots before Gino Gradkowski. In the third round of the same draft the Ravens picked up Bernard Pierce. Indianapolis picked up T.Y. Hilton eight spots later. Who knows? Maybe Givens will thrive in Baltimore having been the target of only one ball this season. Of course the Rams traded Philly for Foles in a trade where both teams felt things couldn't get worse but they did. Drafting players has more to do with a franchises direction than BPA ever could. Of course u could say no one saw the value of Hilton except a team with Luck.

First of  all both Tom and Aaron has been in the same system for over eight  years at least. Both have a head coach that helps implement the offensive game plan. Finally , both have higher drafted receivers and played together for a number of years. Same system, same coaching, same players equals better success than constant change. Tom, Aaron, and Manning are elite QBs and frankly a lot better than Joe. However, When other teams cut Mason, Boldin, Smith Sr, Daniels as they were supposed to washed up, Joe revitalized there career. Joe is a good QB that lack the consistency of system and talent to see him grow. He successfully deals with changes every year.

Seem to me that Perriman is a bust, we are putting to many marbles in one bag for a guy that has not played one second in an NFL regular season game, and since he had that scope thing will he be back this season at all, can anyone answer that $65,000.00 question???

First of all, it is absolutely ridiculous to label Anybody a bust before you even see him play in this league and Just because he got injured. Next, No, nobody can answer the question on whether he will be back this season But, if he's not, it won't be because of the scope "thing." The scope is a rather simple procedure where the surgeon makes a small, approximately one quarter inch incision in the knee to insert a tiny camera in order to see what the situation is inside there. That's it, when nothing is found, like in Breshad's case. I've had two scope procedures done on my knee, and when damage was found that could be repaired arthriscopically (scope procedure), another small (one quarter inch opening) was made to get a tool in to fix the torn meniscus (cartilage). Then the two incisions were closed up with one stitch each and I Walked out of there. I Walked out of there and went to the baseball field That day to coach a game. So, I hope I've educated you a bit about what a scope "thing" is and how it will have No bearing on whether or not Breshad will be back this season. If he doesn't play this season it will be because the PCL sprain healed too slowly. Now, could you educate me as to how you can determine that Breshad Perriman is a bust before you see him play?

Steve going down then I looked at the Patts schedule and made me sicker. Patts could again 16-0 with this schedual.

hopefully steve's back sooner than later, i have some faith in aiken and brown & givens in for camp should help with depth but it would be amazing if we traded for alshon jeffery, which is highly unlikey. I believe in my team and know we'll get through this! Ravens Nation!!

Don't know if the poster knew what he/she was talking about but I know I read on here that Jeffery was out with a "hammie". Might want to check the injury list to be sure. If he's healthy, though, I couldn't agree more. I totally agree with you, though. It IS highly unlikely. In fact, I'd say that the chances of it happening are just about non-existent.

Well, if it's any consolation, The Raven's opponents for the first three games is 8-1. The Bengals, 3-7. The most frustrating part for us fans, I believe is how all of these games seemingly come down to the last play of the game. Maybe some of the breaks will start going their way, like playing at Pittsburgh when they don't have their QB or kicker. They had plenty of heartbreakers last year, they just didn't happen three in a row to start the season. However, Joe needs to pick it up. Five TDs, six TOs won't cut it.

Feel bad for Camp, poor guy goes all out, does good nearly every time he touches the ball but gets hurt often. Wishing him the best. Bummer on SSS, hope he is able to bounce back. As for the HIPAA laws. If I had known there was such a law against reporting specifics of injuries, I would have not asked for more info on Perriman. Now I know. Thanks for info, just wished I knew about this law weeks ago.

Agree SO much with you on both Camp and SSS. I spent 40 years working in the medical field both before and after the HIPPA laws. And they are for real. However, with the player's consent, teams, if they choose, Can make public any information about injuries that the player approves of. Nothing more, only what the player allows. Thus, the news about Perriman's scope procedure we received a couple of days, or so, ago. Perriman Must have given permission to the team to make that update public knowledge. Think about it. There are plenty of times that we receive information as to the extent of a player's injury. Countless examples. It's just that the HIPPA laws give Everyone the right to as much privacy as they wish to have.

We need a slot guy and a splash like an alshon.. Without SSS, Most teams wr4s are comparable to our wr1. Wes welker might have a glass jaw but he's good for more games than the high ceiling injury prone camp.

Remember 2013, Joe got sacked 50 times and threw a lot of interceptions. The reason, an awful O-line and no receivers. Dejavu. Teams are smart. They know we have no receivers, so they are blitzing. Joe has to force throws cause our WRs can't get open. He also has to do it under constant pressure. I don't blame Joe. Even with that, the Defense is the unit that lost us 2 games. Trestman has to call plays that take advantage of the blitz. Leave a TE or a RB back to chip and help block. More play action. I blame the coordinators more then the players. If the average fan can see what's going on, why is it taking so long for the coaches to see it?

well maybe we'll get some early draft picks next year, maybe another WR with a known injury history that cant produce or another FA WR in his twilight years? if the defense gels quick maybe we hav something this year without much offense production (if Dilfer can do it i know Joe can) when does basketball start?

i have to disagree with you. flacco is flacco. he will always be the qb that he has been these past 8 seasons and i would take him over 80% of the qb's that are starting right now. in fairness to him he has had 4 off coord. some with different philosophies while guys like brady and rodgers have run the exact same offense their whole careers which gives them a huge advantage. how many off coord. have brady and rodgers had in their nfl careers. the patriots and packers rarely lose a coach while the ravens get poached every season. i am grateful to have him as the qb especially in the playoffs. rodgers is rodgers brady is brady manning is manning and flacco is flacco. love him or hate him is everyones choice.

Given how much the Ravens' official injury communication tends to relate to reality, admitting now that Smith is out for a game a week from now should mean they consider him out for at least a couple of games...

Ain't our season... but hey, that happens.

We could do with seeing a bit for of Juscyck. Good blocker who can also help out in protection as well as being a useful receiver. Gives us a different perspective

Not good news seeing our guys bite the dust each weekend. Seems that the team is snake bitten this year. Staying healthy is becoming less likely every week now. The guys that are not getting hurt are those who are already on the bench watching because they are hurt.

We may set another team record this year with the number of injured players adding up almost daily now.

Deonte Thompson may be available. At this point anybody that has good hands and a little speed should be looked at. These are some desperate times for the RAVENS.

Your comment makes perfect sense now that I fully understand the laws. I guess because we get "full reports" of injuries all the time that it is expected all the time, something we take for granted, never realizing the players have the same rights to the laws as average people despite being in the public eye. It never crossed my mind all those years that it is the players who controls what is reported rather than the team. I learned a lesson here, thanks for sharing info.

one thing about sss getting injured is that the fo will truly see what they have with the receivers on the roster. huge opportunity for these guys to show that they belong. i think givens will be a gem for us. need to get marlon to wake up and hopefully aiken builds on his descent game against the squeelers. waller has his chance now

One game at a time Ravens. Doesn't look like many of our fans think you can do it but I do. When the going gets tough the tough get going lol. Go Ravens. P.S. Flacco does earn his salary!
