[News] Ravens Trade For WR Chris Givens, Send Michael Campanaro To Injured Reserve

204 posts in this topic

why don't we just cut marlon brown and bring daniel brown up from the practice squad, see what he can do. I like this move, lets see what givens can do with a real QB. He's got a long week before our next game so that should be enough time to learn enough

Unless he was re-signed today and I missed something, Daniel Brown is not on the practice, he was released in August and is a free agent. As for Marlon Brown he currently have strong value as an on field blocker and he's on special teams.

With the addition there are still only four WRs available for games, down from five in previous weeks.

I keep seeing people on here say SSS has 4 Broken Ribs but the Ravens havent officially said anything and seem to debunk that report. so is there a confirmation of his injury?

Well just saw on ESPN Harbs said SSS is out for the Browns game (micro fractures)

I don't when Crockett Gillmore gets back, but it seems as though we need a TE too. It seems to me that Maxx Williams just isn't ready yet. Joe Flacco will continue get hit if we don't get somebody who can get open for him. You cant just go into a NFL game and run, run, run.

Oh one more thing, and you had to be watching to see it. I know most of you saw it. Joe Flacco was getting pressured, getting hit, threw a interception, and he even fumbled in that game. After he tried to run and had the ball stripped and fumbled, he came back looking like a man possessed. Did you guys see the look on his face on that touchdown drive. Skip Bayless always talks about Psycho Tom, well that was Psycho Joe, and that's the guy U want playing for me every week.

Ravens made a good move by picking up Givens, hopefully he can help with returns if nothing else. Campanaro is no good if he cant stay on the field, like a lot of others on the team. Looks like WR will be a high priority in next years draft.

Well, the stage is set, WR's are now forced to step up. Marlon Brown stepped up the last time we were in this position. SSS, please get well soon. At least the running game seemed to have found a groove. That will be our best friend going forward.

Glad that the China Doll(camp) made the team(he really did put forth all the effort he could) but this is not surprising at all...And NO we are never using our#1 on a receiver again ever since Sergio Kindle Perriman will be lucky to even make the team next year...........don't see us keeping or paying(throwing money out the window)him since he's a dud........we need CB's and pass rushers the rest will work itself out........

Campanaro has talent and heart, but, he's not built for the big boy game. Can Givens catch the ball? One trick pony or not, if he can catch a few, oppenents will respect the position. Hope he can absorb the playbook faster than Babin.

Why are you hating on a Raven that made an amazing play to get us a MUCH needed touchdown? He gave our offense a spark in the return game and helped us win against the Steelers. So step off someone that helped win us a huge game like that.

Second of all, Sergio Kindle was an early 2nd round pick... also was an outside linebacker so idk what you're talking about.

Third of all, Perriman has yet to play a snap in the NFL... how is he a dud? lol You want to cut him?!

Rookie contracts are cheap buddy, only a fool would cut a 1st round pick the season after they were drafted... and it wouldnt be due to an injury!

He is a BIG investment and I see no problem making sure he can spend the next 8 years catching passes from Joe Cool.

Fourth of all, We desperately need a wide receiver outside of Steve Smith so to say... Cut Marlon Brown and our first round pick and "the rest will work itself out."

How do you intend to get those shut down corners and 10+ sack defensive ends and outside linebackers??

He had a qb crisis last year and stopped short his progression... had decent two years in the league and then Tavon Austin was given his job because of how high the kid was drafted.

I'm sure the first thing Joe wants to get right is timing that deep ball to him.

As for Babin, I'm glad they went with Smith cause he was flying around and got a little swag with two sacks on back-to-back plays, but you can't stand there and tell me they have NO use for the man.

Look...there isnt a lot to chose from if you think about it. Mant will say "who is this" about Givens but this deal from OZzie favors that Ravens. Givens play fell on the depth chart but by no means do i think that he doesnt have a ton of potential and like many players, when given the right place and opportunity, could blossom here. Looking at this kids tape from college and the pro level, he has a lot of raw talent and can run a ton of pro routes in the tree. He isnt just a fast guy but doenst fear the short YAC plays and coming across the middle. I think we may be surprised once he gets comfy here. His speed alone will help open the running game and short attack. Considering the availability and situation this is a nice move under pressure Ozzie. Im happier with this then a H.Nicks, R.Wayne options for sure

Kid had good production his first two years then had to take a back seat with Tavon Austin as the 8th overall pick in the draft.

2012 : 48 Receptions for 698 yards

2013: 34 Receptions for 569 yards

Joe will love being able to unleash the ball and he will get his fair share of targets being the 2nd most experienced receiver on the team behind an injured Steve Smith.

The kid is a veteran and we also have him inked under his rookie contract.

So thats a corner and wr dealt for a 7th rounder next year and one the year after that...

yeah, Ozzie is a straight wizard

hating on a Raven?.......Camp was playing way over what i thought he could accomplish didn't say anything bout that hating ever.........just the facts man.......camp couldn't take the hits.....We really draft xlnt in the Defensive dept....not so good at wr...EVER(maybe Torrey Smith was the exception).....and yes kindle was a 2nd rd wasted pick because the front office didn't do their work(see Perriman).....And perriman is a dud until he plays a down....in the nlf......

If you read some of the Rams publications, they aren't happy the organization let him go.  The thought was he didn't "fit" their offensive scheme.  That's crazy.  Guys like this?  It seems you find a way to use them.

No more Charity case let him go. Ravens don't need another Webb or Monroe on the team.

If its one thing we can't question, that is Joe's toughness. I am thankful to have him as our QB. He makes bad decisions sometimes especially when he tries to force guys to make the deep ball catches which end up INT's, but he's still our guy. But we don't need a TE. I do understand what you mean about Maxx, because of the offseason hype, we all had him as the up-and-comer. But Nick Boyle is looking like he may be the true 2nd string TE as of right now. But you know how our offensive staff is. It's not about who makes the most plays on offense, its about who's the spotlight player, and right now it is still Maxx Williams. All of our TE's are great though, they haven't dropped any passes that I know of, and they are still young!! Imagine how they'll grow. With Crockett-Maxx-Boyle we are set. But damn did Nick Boyle look good. Maxx needs to do two things, get in the weight room and bulk up over the offseason just like Gillmore did, and practice good body protection. With the way he sacrifices his body to make plays, it's only a matter of time before he gets another injury, one we cannot afford right now. And the run game is what keeps us balanced. The run game is why we won that game. Run, run, run is great if it works properly..believe me on this one bro. And lets watch our team destroy Cleveland!!

Joe Flacco is one of the toughest QB's in the game. He took some big hits in order to follow through on his passes. Especially the one to Kamar Aiken on that drive to keep our hopes alive. So I am sending a big thanks to Joe Flacco. Thanks Joe!!!

If Givens is the replacement for Camp, and if Smith Sr will be out for a while or would be hobbled by this injury, we are still down a #1 receiver. The Bears denying Alshon is on the block is like waving a big flag that he IS on the block. I've heard that the Bears want a 3rd rounder for him, and if Ozzie could do a trade-and-sign, it might be worth it since he has such trouble drafting viable WRs (Torrey Smith the exception that proves the rule). Of course, that won't happen, because he will never give a top-tier WR top-tier money. Here's to the 3 TE sets on offense! Go Ravens!

The thing that really sucks is that Camp's injury isn't season ending....not even close. His MRI showed a "minor" herniated disc and he is already up and about. He would have been ready by San Fran or Arizona at the latest. The problem is we cant wait for three wr's to get healthy so someone had to go. We are obviously going to wait on SSS & Periman.

Camp is not done as a Raven. Hopefully done with the injury bug though.

I am so disheartened. Campanaro has so much talent that I've thought he should have been our starting slot receiver ever since he got here. But, my gosh! He has to be the most fragile guy I can think of. I really feel sorry for him because he has enough talent, I believe, to be a star receiver in this league if he could only stay healthy. I wish there was some way that he could develop the toughness to be able to be a full time player in the NFL, but I just don't know about that. I sure hope so, though. And I Do know that other teams are Extremely reluctant to part with proven and talented receivers, but I wish Ozzie could pull off a miracle. Don't see it happening though. I have come to believe that receivers are Ozzie's achilles heel. Just think about how many actually Good receivers we've had in 20 years of playing in the NFL. Not many. I still believe that Perriman will be a #1, but not this year. I sure would love to see a #1 or even a Solid #2 on this team Now, but I know that even if Ozzie Could find a team, perhaps in the rebuilding mode, that would be willing to let one go, he would Never be willing to pay the price. He just loves his draft choices too much. Prying anything more that a 6th or 7th is Very rare. What we need would probably cost us as much, possibly, as a 3rd or even a 2nd. I mean, I want somebody really GOOD. I'll hope for help from Givens, but I can't honestly think that he's the answer. Hope I'm wrong.
