[News] Ravens Trade For WR Chris Givens, Send Michael Campanaro To Injured Reserve

204 posts in this topic

I hate to say it we need to just move on from Camp why keep moving along with him, hes been IRd the last 2 years with some weird injury most receivers shake off. As for our WR/TE Corp I think we will be fine, I think the only blow to our Offense was the SSS injury. Our TEs are fine, have you seen the 2 rookies get the job done?

I would like to see Campanaro get at least another shot. However you are right to a point that he seems very injury prone and sooner or later if he cant beat the injury bug then it might be best to send him on his way.

Givens makes sense because he is a speedster. Since Perriman is out, maybe Joe now has at least one target to go deep. I can't imagine we brought him here just to return kicks.

Chris Givens is a player!!! He's not playing because the Rams head coach can't coach an offense, and is basically on his way out the door! Fischer may not even make it through the year. Givens is a viable WR and will surely get some playing time here! I like the pick up.

From previous post: Could be that the FO is worried that the injury bug that happened to the secondary last year will happen again, but who's to say that it can't happen to another position, like say WR.

Called it.

What you said makes sense. However, the FO may view a particular move as an opportunity to get someone they may have previously had eyes on but got picked by another team. While those from summer training camp may have simply been choices of those who was leftover.

I initially wondered whether the team would promote a practice squad player and who that may be. As for Daniel Brown, he could still be on their list but maybe just further down that list and likely for the practice squad. I am with you, Daniel had game highlights.

 good point

Did you seriously ask that question?  Campanaro has value to someone as a human being, not just a football player. So yeah, I hope he recovers soon!

You took it the wrong way, of course we all wish him the best. I was speaking in regards to this season. Apologies

Not Camp :( Not with Steve Smith out for a while too. I like Marlon Brown after a catch, but he has to learn to make them first.

I agree. I personally wasn't even sure if Brown would make the roster this year. He has not impressed me much and I don't think he's ever going to pan out(?) Hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so. He has the physical tools. C'mon, Marlon.....

These are the cap hits for those who are curious and keep bringing up Joes Contract

1) Joe Flacco - $14,550,000

2) Lardarius Webb - $9,250,000

3) Marshal Yanda - $8,450,000

4) Eugene Monroe - $7,700,000

5) Elvis Dumervil - $7,375,000

6) Steve Smith - $4,166,666

7) Daryl Smith - $3,875,000

8) Jeremy Zuttah - $3,700,000

9) Jimmy Smith - $3,600,000

10) Will Hill - $2,410,000

3 of those players will most likely be gone by next year, Yanda, Steve Smith, and Daryl Smith. Due to retirement or final year of their contracts.

Followering Year Cap hits top ten

1) Joe Flacco - $28,550,000

2) Jimmy Smith - $9,600,000

3) Lardarius Webb - $9,500,000

4) Eugene Monroe - $8,700,000

5) Terrell Suggs - $7,450,000

6) Elvis Dumervil - $7,375,000

7) Dennis Pitta - $7,200,000

8) Will Hill - $4,590,000

9) Daryl Smith - $4,375,000

10) Jeremy Zuttah - $4,200,000

Can we now in week 4 of 2015 squash all talks of a restructure for Flaccos Contract cause its as friendly as it gets. You wanna talk contracts we can talk about Webb's which in my opinion hes not worth the money we are shoveling out. We can talk Yanda's because we could resign him and lower that hit since we would be foolish not to keep him. I think we do something with out LT since he seems to be injury prone last 2 years. but for the love of god, stop bringing up Flaccos Salary, his numbers this year if i recall are out of the top ten for QB cap hits in 2015. He is actually 12. Just look it up and to lazy to erase my last statement.

Where's Pitta on your top list? Also, comparing Webb# this year to SSS# this year. Where's the fairness in that? Just sayin'....should be reversed, in my opinion.

Chris Givens sure will bolster the WR corps. No Camp, No SSS which hopefully translates into Waller getting more snaps. We gotta utilize Maxx and Boyle because they both can play. Joe needs to make quick decisions and instead of forcing crazy throws, stick with those easy RB or TE dump-offs so these guys can make plays. I also think Lorenzo should be used more because he's a big boy who's hard to tackle.

Disappointed Camp got injured. Feel bad for him, but I guess some people just can't hold up in the NFL. I would like to know exactly what his injury is.

somebody said herniated disc in his back. haven't seen confirmation on that yet, but it makes sense, prob. needs surgery.

Why is everyone calling for Daniel Brown, he made 3 nice plays in the very last preseason game and that was it, not saying he'll never amount to anything as a WR, hell you never kniw he could turn out to be grear, but he didn't standout at all, why is everyone all of a sudden thinking he's special. Wouldn't be mad if Ozzie bring him back, but why Is everyone screaming his name.

looks like 1 person screamin his name to me.

He'll probably get brought back to the PS when somebody like Ross gets promoted to the 53.

Dennis Pitta $6,200,000

hes on the pup list so didnt see him down at the bottom right. the top 10 are top 10 active players on the team

What problem does making a bigger trade solve?

Giving fans a false hope that a 1-3 team that hasn't played well yet this season is all of the sudden going to turn into a SB contender?

so let's throw in the towel 4 games in.

Everyone knows our schedule was top heavy , and now Big Ben being out for a substantial amount of time really shakes things up. We are still alive, and we always step it up a notch in the playoffs, just gotta fight to get there. No we haven't played well, but we've played some pretty good teams and had the back to back stay out west, we are still getting a feel for trestman and tryin to get some of these young guys goin, once we start clicking we could really get on a roll and do some damage. You can jump ship if you want to, I'm good right here. And it's not just about this year, a "bigger trade" would help solve the absence of sss next year. Not that I'm even saying a trade is the answer, just that its stupid to give up on a season 4 games in and not even attempt to repair the holes we have.

why don't we just cut marlon brown and bring daniel brown up from the practice squad, see what he can do. I like this move, lets see what givens can do with a real QB. He's got a long week before our next game so that should be enough time to learn enough

Givens is a solid pick up for us. THe kid has talent and he can fill two needs: slot and returner. He will add a solid target for Flacco but with 4 broken ribs on SSS and no Perriman we still may need to make another trade???? We will get the full alotment of comp picks this year.... so a conditional pick for Will Davis and Givens....those pick ups help us now and do not really hurt us at draft time and cannot command enough to be a problem with the salary cap. Two solid pick ups! Good Job Ozzie and company

Look...there isnt a lot to chose from if you think about it. Mant will say "who is this" about Givens but this deal from OZzie favors that Ravens. Givens play fell on the depth chart but by no means do i think that he doesnt have a ton of potential and like many players, when given the right place and opportunity, could blossom here. Looking at this kids tape from college and the pro level, he has a lot of raw talent and can run a ton of pro routes in the tree. He isnt just a fast guy but doenst fear the short YAC plays and coming across the middle. I think we may be surprised once he gets comfy here. His speed alone will help open the running game and short attack. Considering the availability and situation this is a nice move under pressure Ozzie. Im happier with this then a H.Nicks, R.Wayne options for sure

so ok we picked up Chris Givens but what else do we do Since now we have to worry about our #1 WR going down too... Do we hope that Aiken can keep stepping up? No to mention the fact that our #1 Pick that has some serious issues now scope revealed nothing else wrong and just needs more time to heal and they give him a stem cell injection and now say he is out indefinitely? what is the deal
