[News] Ravens Trade For WR Chris Givens, Send Michael Campanaro To Injured Reserve

204 posts in this topic

The worst thing this team can do right now is sign a bunch of free agent WR's to make up for this loss. Get Daniel Brown in here!!! I swear I they don't then they don't know how to build a offense. Tom Brady was a 4th string QB before he had a opportunity to show what he could do. Not saying Daniel Brown is Tom Brady, but the same rules apply. I still believe that D.Brown can help this offense. The guy is 6-foot-5 220lbs.

What you said makes sense. However, the FO may view a particular move as an opportunity to get someone they may have previously had eyes on but got picked by another team. While those from summer training camp may have simply been choices of those who was leftover.

I initially wondered whether the team would promote a practice squad player and who that may be. As for Daniel Brown, he could still be on their list but maybe just further down that list and likely for the practice squad. I am with you, Daniel had game highlights.

Another WR to run back kicks??? Let's get Asa back out there. He may have fumbled a couple but he also took one back to the house. And besides, like in baseball, the time to make the mistakes and correct them is when the games don't count. Bring him back.

Torrey Smith never missed a game, even when his bro passed. I don't think Anquan missed a game either... So sad to see those two go...

:deadhorse:  Dead Horse.

The 49ers are 1-2 with Q & Torrey but they are $14 million in the hole at WR and had to let most of their FA sign elsewhere because of it...Ask a 49er fan if he thinks Torrey is worth $40 million....

Whats the point of hoping he recovers soon? He's done for the season smh

Did you seriously ask that question?  Campanaro has value to someone as a human being, not just a football player. So yeah, I hope he recovers soon!

Another tough break for Campanaro. So what have we learned? Campanaro can't be considered in any Raven future plans. Same goes for Perriman. These players need to prove themselves on the field for a period of time before we start ranting and raving about their greatness. This has been the only major fault of the Ravens. You earn your stripes on the field.

obviously our answer isnt in house, you guys pounded your chest with Thompson and look he was a bum. the front office knows more of what to do then we do let them do their job.

Campanaro was quickly proving himself. It's really bad timing for our team b/c we have a distinct lack of offensive play makers...we will not beat the better teams on our schedule this year. If Ben had played thursday night no way we win that game...thx Mike V. With the lack of cap money it will be very difficult to attract any real talent. We will definitely see how deep this team is this year.

Kind of excited to see what Givens can do for us. After checking out the link from BallHawker, it looks like he could be one to help open up the field.

This guy got the shaft when they drafted Tavon Austin....  I love Tavon Austin....  BUT!  You got folks stating this:

I'm past my fantasy football advice dispensing prime, but it's fair to say Givens would be near the top of my "undervalued" list. Austin is going to be a dynamic player, but Givens has better size and a big head start in his development. They aren't such different players in terms of explosiveness.

These are the cap hits for those who are curious and keep bringing up Joes Contract

1) Joe Flacco - $14,550,000

2) Lardarius Webb - $9,250,000

3) Marshal Yanda - $8,450,000

4) Eugene Monroe - $7,700,000

5) Elvis Dumervil - $7,375,000

6) Steve Smith - $4,166,666

7) Daryl Smith - $3,875,000

8) Jeremy Zuttah - $3,700,000

9) Jimmy Smith - $3,600,000

10) Will Hill - $2,410,000

3 of those players will most likely be gone by next year, Yanda, Steve Smith, and Daryl Smith. Due to retirement or final year of their contracts.

Followering Year Cap hits top ten

1) Joe Flacco - $28,550,000

2) Jimmy Smith - $9,600,000

3) Lardarius Webb - $9,500,000

4) Eugene Monroe - $8,700,000

5) Terrell Suggs - $7,450,000

6) Elvis Dumervil - $7,375,000

7) Dennis Pitta - $7,200,000

8) Will Hill - $4,590,000

9) Daryl Smith - $4,375,000

10) Jeremy Zuttah - $4,200,000

Can we now in week 4 of 2015 squash all talks of a restructure for Flaccos Contract cause its as friendly as it gets. You wanna talk contracts we can talk about Webb's which in my opinion hes not worth the money we are shoveling out. We can talk Yanda's because we could resign him and lower that hit since we would be foolish not to keep him. I think we do something with out LT since he seems to be injury prone last 2 years. but for the love of god, stop bringing up Flaccos Salary, his numbers this year if i recall are out of the top ten for QB cap hits in 2015. He is actually 12. Just look it up and to lazy to erase my last statement.

Nice pickup! Ozzie knows what he is doing. Now teams won't blitz as much because we have a speedster to stretch the field and they will have to respect Flacco's arm. Therefore helping the run game as well. It sucks that camp got injured but it is what it is.

People need to understand that these guys play in the nfl an are have small builds. Steve smith comes from a different mold an can take the punishment obviously. I'm also not sure why everyone is asking for Daniel brown to get signed, he looked good in preseason against guys who probably aren't in the league right now. He's the same wr as marlin brown size speed an all so that makes no sense.

Givens is probably better than Brown. He should get some looks in the passing game, especially since he can do something after the catch.

Not Camp :( Not with Steve Smith out for a while too. I like Marlon Brown after a catch, but he has to learn to make them first.

Campanaro to IR shouldn't surprise anyone. Just like last year- he played 4 games and scored 1 TD, so this injury was about right on schedule.

No Campanaro, no Gilmore, and Smith Sr is banged up. Flacco doesn't really have a lot of reliable, experienced targets left. Let's hope this Givens guy can shine the way Forsett did for us last year.

Watch his highlights he's a burner, I know it seems like we can't catch a break, but don't sleep on this guy, he looks like he could help us stretch the field and play in the slot, he's also 6'0.

Why is everyone calling for Daniel Brown, he made 3 nice plays in the very last preseason game and that was it, not saying he'll never amount to anything as a WR, hell you never kniw he could turn out to be grear, but he didn't standout at all, why is everyone all of a sudden thinking he's special. Wouldn't be mad if Ozzie bring him back, but why Is everyone screaming his name.

Ravens still need to find a way to get another wide receiver that can help the team this year, Givens still isn't enough

I hate to say it we need to just move on from Camp why keep moving along with him, hes been IRd the last 2 years with some weird injury most receivers shake off. As for our WR/TE Corp I think we will be fine, I think the only blow to our Offense was the SSS injury. Our TEs are fine, have you seen the 2 rookies get the job done?

I would like to see Oz make a trade for a higher end WR. We still don't know what Perriman can do and probably wont until next season. Lets face it Oz and his staff are great at drafting just not at the WR position. The best WR's the Ravens have had have all come over from other teams either in free agency or trades not ONE was drafted by the Ravens unless Perriman turns into something special. SSS, Boldin, Mason and even though he never put on a Raven jersey T.Owens was traded to the Ravens but the trade was nill and void when an arbitrator ruled in favor of T.O. I would just like to see Oz spend a little more and go get a younger proven guy. Please understand this is no bash against Givens he could turn out to be a steal. THE COLD HARD FACT IS WITH EXCEPTION OF SSS AND MAYBE PERRIMAN (SEE ABOVE) ALL OUR WR'S ON THE ROSTER RIGHT NOW ARE EQUIL TO OTHER NFL TEAMS 3RD STRINGERS AT BEST. None of them seem to want to or are capable of stepping up into a starter role it's almost like they have been handed the role.
