Whatever happened to the intern head coach Dan Campbell? The Dolphins did fantastic for the first few weeks after he took over.

The AFC South, that's what happened to him. They looked great because they played the Texans and Titans after they fired Joe Philbin. Then they played the Patriots and we saw they were the same old Dolphins.

Eagles are interested in interviewing Tom Coughlin for their head coach vacancy. Due to Coughlin resigning with time left on his contract, they need permission from the Giants to interview him. Schefter says, Giants won't stand in his way if he wants to interview with the Eagles.

Dolphins are finalizing a contract to hire Adam Gase

Hired. He will also be offensive play caller and will have a final say on MIA roster. That's a lot of power for the youngest NFL head coach.

How could that possibly go wrong?

There is a report that Lions Head Coach Jim Caldwell's job is not safe. Apparently Martha Ford wants to keep Caldwell which would mean he would stay but I'd imagine Bob Quinn would like to bring in his own head coach.

Considering Bob Quinn came from the Patriots, I'd imagine that if Caldwell does get fired Josh McDaniels replaces him and McDaniels gets a second chance at being a Head Coach.

Inqui then would have one right although I wouldn't fire Caldwell after their turn around from the early part of the year.

I would? Ahem, I mean of course I would. ;)

How?

Boom

Sadly the Jags looked pretty solid after I brought Bradley's name up, and they look to have enough going on now that he'd be safe even without the FO confirming it. Ah well, at least the Jags having promise is a refreshing change from the same old Colts/Cheetahs/Steelers/Broncos/Ravens hegemony (well, four fifths of that is stale anyway...).

That turnaround makes it tougher to say whether Caldwell sticks around. But iirc his selling point for getting the job in the first place was the kinda work he could do with Stafford, and if I were a Lions fan I wouldn't be too excited about that area atm.

After last night, I bet he will be happy to leave that mess in Cincinnati.

Might be out of the frying pan and into the fire with SF in the state they're in, but I wouldn't blame the coaches for wanting to leg it.

It's looking like the Bengals coaching staff might get pillaged this year, which might bode well for Lewis sticking around for another year. Unless they can bring in a guy like Coughlin or even Greg Schiano.

Schiano would be so Bengals.

It's official, Marvin Lewis is staying in Cincinnati for 2016. Bengals have no plans to fire despite the meltdown that occurred at the end of the game.

What kind of NFL is this? Jim Harbaugh got ran out of town after 3 straight NFC Championship appearances and a Super Bowl appearance while Marvin Lewis can be 0-7 in the playoffs and keep his job.

Lewis must be a cat. I hope his entire coaching staff leaves and his team plummets.

It sounds like his OC and DB coach are as good as gone, and there's interest in his DC and LB coach. Skimming over the Bengals forums, they're concerned about how there's no obvious in-house replacement for their co-ordinators, so you have to wonder how much more pillaging their staff can take. Same as how we almost had the defensive coaching dream team a few years ago (Austin, Monachino and Brooks working under Pagano - imagine those guys with Kubiak and his crew).

Rob Ryan was the defensive coordinator for one of the worst defenses in the league in New Orleans. He was fired, and has managed to resurface. The Buffalo Bills have hired Rob Ryan as a defensive assistant. Yep that's right, defensive assistant. The circus continues in Buffalo, and this will only end up the way it did for Rex at the end of his tenure with the Jets.

Source tells @NFLonFOX that Rob Ryan is joining @buffalobills defensive coaching staff working under/with his twin brother Rex.

Indeed. It's getting annoying seeing the Steelers and Bengals compete for the division whille we're on the outside looking in.

LOL. That's great. After all, Rex said that this is his last chance as a HC. Might as well go out with a bang.

Brown is too cheap to fire a HC under contract.

Thing is, Marvin Lewis' contract could have ended on Sat Night.  2015 was Marvin's last year of the deal but before the 2015 season Mike Brown gave him a one year extension through 2016. In July 2012, Mike Brown gave Lewis a 2 year extension. They have had chances to part with him, but Brown keeps giving him extensions.

So far, the Tennessee Titans have done GM interviewsbut no Head Coach interviews. It seems that Mike Mularkey wil remain the Head Coach of the Titans regardless of who the new GM is.

I'd imagine they're waiting to pick their GM so he can ride or die with his own coach.
