2015-2016 Coaching Carousel

Why?

Why would we want to see our divisional rivals succeed? I come from the thinking of wanting ALL of them to fail.

We can only hope. Nothing is worse for a franchise than an owner being in love with a QB that no coach wants to deal with.

Have fun with that HC search, Mr. Haslam.

Remember 2014 when Pettine was hired. He was their fifth choice.

Also PFT reports Doug Marrone will be the first coach interview for the Browns.

Why?

Because they are divisional rivals of the team that I root for. Cincinnati clawed their way out of the basement and it hasn't work out so well for the Ravens.

Jim Tomsula is fired per Schefter

The Eagles aren't the only team going to make a run at Sean Payton. Per Schefter, now that Tomsula is fired they are expected to explore the option of signing Sean Payton if he is available.

Jim Harbaugh trolling the 49ers???

Harbaugh tweeted this out just after the 49ers announced they fired Jim Tomsula.

Do not be deceived. You will reap what you sow.

For a second there I thought you meant our Harbaugh. Our Harbs certainly speaks like that, but I was wondering what he'd been smoking.

Here's some early morning news on interviews before the rest of dominoes fall later in the morning.

- Bears OC Adam Gase has interviews scheduled with the Eagles, Browns & Dolphins. Gase's first stop is in Philly on Tuesday followed by Cleveland on Wednesday and Miami in Thursday.

- Lions DC Teryl Austin will interview for the Dolphins and Browns this week. It is said he prefers to interview with the Dolphins first but his schedule is not set in stone.

By the way, 49ers forums were pretty good.

I feel sorry for Pettine, but I'm glad to see him go. I don't want to see Cleveland succeed. You have to wonder if they're damaging themselves in more ways than one.

With their revolving door at hc, Cleveland can't be the most enticing destination in the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the better coordinators in the league have passed on an interview with them.

I agree with this. Firing Petine another short sighted move that proves this franchise continues to have no plan and no hope. Whoever they find will be a downgrade. So the Browns will stay hopeless. Fantastic news!

Browns fans deserve so much more than this. No consistency in the front office or coaching staff.

Not really. Browns fans should suffer for eternity.

The New York Giants and Tom Coughlin are mutually parting ways. Tom Coughlin told Giants Ownership that it is in the best interest of the team that he steps down as Head Coach.

Ian Rapport says an internal candidate that could become the new head coach is Offensive Coordinator Ben McAdoo.

That might not be a bad idea. They may have been planning this transition for done time. Giants one of the better run franchises in the league.

Anyone wanting Pagano, Irsay is going to make us wait. No decision will be made on Chuck Pagano's future in Indianapolis today. It should be noted that a lot of Colts players are supporting Pagano and supporting him remaining the Head Coach.

Guess he realized he screwed up when he opted out the final year of his Bills contract. Him and the Browns would be a good marriage but really shouldn't the Browns hire a GM 1st. lol.

And Grigson too! LMAO!

I thought new GM might have been Pagano's condition to stay. With this news, Chuck deserves everything that will come his way next season.

Pagano and Colts agree to contract extension. No details yet.

This is just ridiculous. At the start of the season, their sociopath owner laid down the line and said this was a super bowl or bust year. Good Lord, they didn't even make it to the playoffs in the worst division in the conference. Yes I know Luck was hurt, but still ... having an injured QB didn't save Caldwell. Then a report after week 16 that he was going to be let go as soon as the season concluded. Now a contract extension. Wow.

All the carping and thinly veiled jabs in post game interviews, etc ... Really? Sounds like a fun environment to work in, Chuck. I really appreciate your time here, but simply cannot wish you well at your current (and continued) place of employment.

I liked this comment ... "I think a coach Jim Irsay might have had in mind politely declined to join the Colts at this time.  For what reason (if my speculation is even on target) I am not sure. "

Huh, didn't think of that possibility, that a possible candidate fell through ... why would someone perhaps not want to coach this team? Could it be that it would be because the owner is a head case?

Damn, I was hoping there was at least a chance to bring him back if he wasn't interested in being a Head Coach no more.

4 year extension and Grigson is staying??? If I'm Andrew Luck I'm taking a $100M+ contract from another team. As long as Grigson is there Luck won't have any defense to support him and the offense and he will keep getting injured without a o-line. Grigson has ignored those two needs for the Colts the past two years.

Wait, Irsay said that Pagano pushed for a contract extension for Grigson??? Grigson got a 3 year extension that now ties Pagano/Grigson together for the next four years.

Well, the Colts had a short run at the top of the division. With Grigson around, it won't happen again for awhile.
