2015-2016 Coaching Carousel

I disagree that that is a good receiving core. Only one that's any good is wright. I do like walker however. Their best pass catcher.

Torn on chip. I like that he has new ideas and challenges conventional wisdom on many things. But his offense is pretty flawed for the NFL. He'd be wise to change things a bit and vary his tempo. Closer to what Belichick has done.

You're correct. Bad choice of words on my behalf. A receiving corps with an immense amount of potential to be a very good corps.

Per Schefter, Rex Ryan and Bills GM Doug Whaley have been informed they will return to the team in 2016.

Shad Khan has informed Head Coach Gus Bradley that he will return as the coach of the Jaguars in 2016.

I don't get how firing him before the last game of the season does any help. I mean if they were going to fire him they should have just waited until Monday or done it during the middle of the season when they were losing.

Gives teams time to move him up to the top of their interview list, which theoretically gets the Eagles a quicker interview with the guys they want

Black Monday is becoming like Black Friday. You get the specials earlier.

3 and outs at that tempo will kill a defense. If he hasn't figgered that out by now I don't think he ever will. Stubborness smh.

How can you fire someone whose contract is up? Anyway it has been announced that the Colts plan on firing Chuck Pagano and they are undecided at the moment about GM Ryan Grigson's future in Indianapolis.

Colts plan tobfire Chuck Pagano according to ESPN

Poor Chuck, you have to feel bad for him. GM Ryan Grigson never gave him anything to work with defensively and kept putting the team on Andrew Luck's back. Then after giving Luck all these weapons he failed to do the number one thing that makes all QBs successful, protect him. Despite all that, Pagano led the Colts to 11-5 the past three seasons and is being let go/fired with one bad season.

Man, this whole Pagano/Grigson situation is worse than imagined. Bob Kravitz of WTHR.com says Grigson is the reason for a lot of why everything is going wrong in Indianapolis. To summarize below......

- Grigson was involved in coaching decisions, dictate who would and wouldn't play and undermine Pagano when Chuck wanted to discipline players.

- After trading for Trent Richardson(worst trade ever), he continued to insist that Richardson play despite the fact he wasn't playing well. Grigson was more concerned with his image and making sure the trade looked good.

- He also insisted on the use of Josh Cribbs despite the fact Chuck and several members of the coaching staff were against it.

- He also forced former Offensive Coordinator Pep Hamilton on to Pagano and that Pep always answered to Grigson, not Pagano.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/12/31/grigson-is-painted-as-micromanager-who-undermined-pagano/

Wow..... if this is all true no coach is going to succeed in Indianapolis as long as Grigson is the GM. If Chuck doesn't want to return as a DC for us, I hope he finds a team who will allow him to be a Head Coach more so than the Colts did.

Wow. It really sounds like Pagano got shafted in Indy. I still think he's a far better DC than HC, but he definitely would have done better if he had a decent GM to work with.

Pagano's agent or Pagano himself should have checked what he's getting himself into before signing the contract. They can't blame anyone else for that predicament.

Oh hey, what's new in Cleveland? Firing another Head Coach? That never happens in Cleveland.... never mind. Reports going around say Mike Pettine will be fired next week. We still don't know anything about GM Ray Farmer but at least Mike Pettine will gone.

Like I said in the Chip Kelly thread, do not be surprised if Chip ends up in the AFC North will full control of the Browns.

I like Pettine also. Letting him go would be a mistake. He had some awful QBs, that's all. The pressure should be on Ray Farmer to give Mike a signal caller to work with.

We all know Cleveland, they love instability on the team and hate anything that brings stability to the team. Once they fire Pettine they will be on their sixth coach since 2008 come 2016. That would be 6 coaches in 9 years, and the longest any coach as stayed in that time was Romeo Crennel who was there from 2005 - 2008. Since Crennel, every coach has only lasted 1 or 2 seasons.

The New York Giants will be looking to win one more game for Tom Coughlin and send him off on a high note. It is being reported that Tom Coughlin may resign as the New York Giants Head Coach on Monday. If Coughlin does indeed resign, he will always be known for leading the Giants to 2 Super Bowl victories against the Patriots and leaving a big what if in Jacksonville if the Jaguars never fired him in 2002.

Looks like Adam Gase will have three suitors in the Eagles, Dolphins and the Browns once they fire Mike Pettine.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/01/02/eagle-browns-dolphins-all-expected-to-chase-adam-gase/

Edit: More news coming out as we get closer to Sunday. A report says that despite how bad this season has gone for San Diego, they are expected to retain Head Coach Mike McCoy as they have much confidence in him. Now granted McCoy is only signed through 2016 so whether the confidence means a contract extension remains to be seen.

We now have one GM spot open in the NFL. The Miami Dolphins and GM Dennis Hickey have agreed to part ways according to Adam Schefter.

So... The 49ers are planning to fire Jim Tomsula a year after hiring him.

Boy will Jim Harbaugh get the last laugh.

Like I said in the Chip Kelly thread, do not be surprised if Chip ends up in the AFC North will full control of the Browns.

I never really thought of that, but I guess it is possible. I just assumed the front runner will be Tennessee, as he can reunite with Marriota and won't have to sell his system on his QB. That would be interesting ... no idea if he could cure the ills that disease that franchise. Most notable, it would be interesting to see where the team would go regarding QB.

If I were he, I'd be looking for a sweet job in the college ranks, where being the supreme dictator over your team works a whole lot better than in the NFL. However, rumor has it that he wants to stay in the NFL. That's not really surprising, as sometimes people want to prove they can do something  ... even if it isn't practical.

I just think his style and attitude works a lot better in the NCAA and I'm pretty sure there will be some big time program that will pay him handsomely, but at present, that doesn't appear to be where Chip wants to be.

I feel sorry for Pettine, but I'm glad to see him go. I don't want to see Cleveland succeed. You have to wonder if they're damaging themselves in more ways than one.

With their revolving door at hc, Cleveland can't be the most enticing destination in the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the better coordinators in the league have passed on an interview with them.

I'm not sure what exactly they were expecting from Tomsula, but what do I know.

As an absolute worst case scenario I'd have thought they could use him as a Tank Commander for a couple of seasons and then move on once they get stockpile some better talent.

Top story on NFL Mobile is both Farmer and Pettine have been fired.

Browns fans deserve so much more than this. No consistency in the front office or coaching staff.

According to reports the Browns are staying internal for their GM with someone named Sashi Brown.

So in other words, Manziel isnt going anywhere and Haslam doesnt want anyone from the outside getting rid of Manziel.

Makes no sense at all, especially considering:

@TonyGrossi says Manziel showed up at facility this week, "Disheveled and inebriated." There's your title for season highlight video!!!

This is an interesting read in the Browns forum (just to add to that Tweet):

Dunno why they seem to insist on sticking with him, but time will tell I guess. It looks like Chip Kelly (who's said Johnny 12 Steps would be the perfect QB for his system) will be the key domino in the offseason reshuffles.

We can only hope. Nothing is worse for a franchise than an owner being in love with a QB that no coach wants to deal with.

Have fun with that HC search, Mr. Haslam.

The best thing Haslam could do for Browns fans would be to fire himself.

I pitty college prospect who's going to be No 2 selection.
