Ravens acquire Chris Givens from Rams

I think he plays quite amazing for his age but sometimes I wonder if fans perception of players are clouded once they know the age of the player. Not saying Steve Smith is elite but  he definitely not playing like 36 year old receiver.

Yeah, sorry if you thought that was what I was saying. Let me try to clarify.

Smitty has played amazingly at times, even more amazing considering his age. My point was that he disappeared for periods of time last year and has missed some catches that if he were a younger SSS, he would have easily made. That is why I would take many of the receivers on the list that was posted over him.

Oh I'm sorry, let me fix that for you

1. Perriman

2. Megatron

3. Julio Jones

4. Dez Bryant

5. Demaryius Thomas

6. Sammy Watkins

ha nice knee jerk reaction. but lets get back to reality. perriman wont be our #1 going into next year, and after losing SSS we'll need a solid back bone at the position. so its more like..

1. free agent pick up/ trade

2. perrKNEEman

3. 3rd or 4th round WR draft pick (first 2 rounds will be defense)

4. aiken

5. givens

6. undrafted rookie

heres 2016 free agent wide recievers

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/wide-receiver/

percy harvin and alshon jeffrey jump out from the list. would take either one.

I would take Marvin Jones, Sanu, Crabtree, or Ruban Randall. All would be upgrades over what we will have, not break the bank, and would pair well with Perriman's speed. Harvin doesn't seem like a guy the Ravens would target, too many issues.

yeah sanu and rueben randle could be good value and would compliment perriman nicely if hes able to take off the top

The moment you realize the Bengals' 3rd WR could be our #1.

This Rams' #5 WR we got could be our #1 WR, and they're lacking at the position themselves.

Not really surprising. They have invested a lot more into the position than we have.

Offered him 35 million for 5 years the dude refused simple as that

I get tired of hearing that we "Let Torrey Walk" The Ravens made a serious offer but I agree with not selling the farm for him.

he was a running back in high school and got moved to the slot in college. We would be best served to stick him in Campanaro's old role as opposed to using him like Torrey

That makes sense. I've just added a number of .gifs in the breakdown post that followed the one you quoted. I feel like he's an ideal fit for the role and I'm encouraged from what I've seen of his skill-set. He could have his best days in Baltimore.

Eh we traded to get a kick returner. Let's not kid ourselves with this guy. With Camp and Smith both hurt, they have nobody to return kicks. Simple as that.

If that was true we would have activated Ross from the PS who was a great returner for the lions the last few years. We brought him in to play WR too. Probably to take Camp's role, they have a very similar skill set.

and he turned it down for a contract that barely makes a difference when you factor in a 5 year cost of living in California. I think Torrey honestly wanted a change of scenery, he probably felt he could never come back from the last play as a raven.

Yea I definitely think Trestman was excited to see what Camp was gonna bring to then offense in more areas then just the pass game. I definitely see Givens in the same mold for this offense. Trestman will utilize his return abilities and get the ball in his hands quick. Not sure he makes a huge impact to the offense but he'll factor in.

Which is stupid because even though i was upset at the divisional round play at the end, i was more than ready to welcome him back as a raven, he has done so much for us in the past, very instrumental in the success the last four years, one mistake wasnt going to negate that for me and i,m sure Baltimore would welcome back along with me. If he left because he thought he hurt us, then he is a baby, sorry but its plain and simple.

If we're fantasizing about FAs, Marvin Jones could make for an enticing reasonably inexpensive option.

I like Marvin Jones, I imagine he can be had in the 4-5M range. I think we could go for cut guys like Vincent Jackson or Pierre Garçon tho.

Here's my question: would Marvin Jones actually leave CIN? And if he does, would he end up coming to a divisional rival?

I don't see what Marvin Jones would be leaving in Cincinatti. He would he a true #2 here and would go to a team who has success in the playoffs.

Definitely a good question. Perhaps into a situation where he could compete for the No.1 spot, at least on paper. If I was a WR, I'd probably prefer our situation. That's me personally.

Because Sanu, Jones, Brandon Tate and Greg Little are all free agents at the end of the year and they will have to make choices. Either Sanu or Jones will walk, I would imagine Sanu would be their top priority.

Both injury prone and expensive.

yeah youre right. lets just spend next to nothing on some no name WR that has played in the league for a few years and got benched, and we'll continue to have an awful offense. good strat.

Thanks for the input. I don't know why, but I've always liked Jones (and Sanu as well). I'm wondering if he's truly #1 material (could be #2 for us), but nonetheless I would love him in Ravens purple.
