Ravens acquire Chris Givens from Rams

Just by looking at my at how he broke off from Sherman's press I can tell that he's the best Healthy WR on our roster. Might as well make him the #1.

Completely agree. Joe needs to build a solid chemistry first, though.. which may take a few weeks. Let's just hope Joe doesn't underthrow him (like he's done all season)

Agreed that he's already the best WR on our roster now that SSS is out. Hope he's determined to shine in this contract year.

At what point do we say goodbye to Camp?

Might as well let him play out his rookie contract. Such a shame, the guy has massive potential!

I like Givens and think he will excel here.

And it's a shame about SSS, hope he can get back soon, but I don't think it's a season ruiner. I think Joe actually played better when he went out of the Pitt game.

It forced him to actually go through his progressions and to trust other guys to make plays. With SSS on the field he's locked in on him way too much and forced way too many balls in there, a few of which have been picked off and turned games.

If he's out for say 2 games I think it'll do more good in the long run, forcing Joe to throw to other targets and build some chemistry/trust. Then throw him back in the mix and we'll be much better for it.

We can win these next 2 without him. Givens is going to be a play maker right away, and Aiken will build on his performance Thursday.

I feel it. This season is going to turn around, an we'll get healthy just in time to be the hottest team in the league going into the playoffs with SSS, Perriman, possibly Pitta, and Urban all coming back.

- Good point, the picks vs. DEN + PIT were targeted at Smitty.

- Maybe. Let's see him incorporate the TE's a lot more including RB dump offs.

How does Givens compare to Torrey? Both are 6 ft, 200'ish lbs with 4.4 speed.

- I hope you're right, it's all about coming into the playoffs with momentum as opposed to just being a good regular season team (*cough* Andy Dalton/Bengals...).

Ngata and Rice's dead money are killing us.

Thankfully starting offseason their dead money will be eliminated and we will have some cap room.

As overrated as Haden is, I don't think Aiken will have a chance against him. Thankfully Cleveland has an awful run defense.

I don't care if he is a number three. We need a freaking deep threat. That's what he is. That opens up a ton for the offense. And btw. He can actually catch too.. Has pretty good hands.

Honestly hope we can retain him after the season. Even if he is just a 3, so was Jacoby as a WR pretty much.

I would like to keep him as well depending on how he does. I hope he becomes a Eugene Monroe like addition. Edited by PurpleCity5

I'm more hopeful about this guy than Davis, I actually think this guy might be an alright asset to the team.

He has got 440 speed the guy can flip the burners on if he needs to, still badly missing perrimans 424 speed

I'll dig into the tape before making my assessment. He struggled with drops a bit in his two first seasons but hasn't drooped a ball in the last 18 targets since then so I'll be anxious to see the degree of difficulty on the recent catches. At least he brings the element of speed.

I think that him coming in and solidifying the number three spot is great. Perriman doesn't play at a 4.2. He plays around 4.3-4.4. Which is still blazing fast so no one is really complaining. Givens is easily better than Marlon, Aiken, and Waller. Camp is debateable. If he bulks up I do see him becoming a good slot WR.

But man, I'm happy here. I hope we can extend the guy.

Until he has a good game, and then everyone points out that he played well and we'd like to see more of him, and then you come in and tell us all he's nothing special and to stop overrating him, right?

this isn't going to do anything..

so steve smith sr,,no camp

deep down, everyone knows whats going to happen..

just going downhill again from here..loss after loss.

some average dude from st louis who can't make it over a pretty modest receiving core isn't going to make us better.

Camp looked good in his limited time on the field. We can't really miss him, because we hardly knew him.

We have a good receiver corps. It includes Gilmore, Williams and Boyle.  We can throw to our backs. We have guys that haven't even seen the field yet.  Aiken showed some promise. Brown will have to show up.  But we also have a running game that certainly showed life.  The season isn't over and the Ravens have just begun to fight.

please..see it without homerism. He's a 3 at BEST.

People here really live in a fantasy world. Our offense is now non existent. nadda ..zilch. Everyone here knows it.

See comment above.  That Steelers defense is not swiss cheese.

Do you really enjoy those yellow cornflakes?

Yeah,  that's what happens when someone without courage gets scared too.  Didn't see the Raven's yellowing their cornflakes Thursday and that was with much adversity.

I didn't realize SSS was out for the year? If he is (or is even out for an extended period) then yeah, we're probably cooked, but thinking that he is, well, that's pure pessimistic speculation.

Waller is, as you say, raw as hell ... but I think a couple relatively minor adjustments and a little more time with his QB and he can be something of a threat. Aiken is mediocre, but could improve with more time with his QB as well.

I am trying to look at our upcoming schedule and see if there is some way we may be able to still scratch out a couple wins with, admittedly, one of the worst WR corp in the league, while we wait for SSS to return and for the youth to develop.

No one is going to mistake us for the greatest show on turf, but it is still a team that can find some wins.

S Smith has some back bones and ribs fractured he won't need surgery for. Tony Romo had something similar.  S Smith was hit by Timmons regarding the damage though. It wasn't the other player per my view.

True but 440 will, at the very least, help pull some coverage down field to help out the under and cross routes.

Ozzie may have worked his magic on this one, i may have to give him his apologies if chris givens ends up having a break out game against the browns.

He obviously wants attention. There is no reason to be so consistantly negative about a team you allegedly are a fan of. It's not even worth the time responding to. It's why there's an ignore button, if people would just stop quoting him, it would be like he isn't even here!!

So treat him like that Pats fan that posts here?

I like this move. He gives us an element of speed which will help Aiken and the TEs. He'll be fast enough to beat lolHaden next week.

Nice. Don't know much about him but if he brings speed, he's definitely very welcomed.

Glad we made a move. He's going to play right away right?

I'd be shocked if he played that quickly but as a deep threat I'd hope we can work him in.

Does anyone know if he has return experience, that could be huge

Because unlike your baby Davis THIS guy has had a good SEASON.

I don't think this trade was done primarily because of Perrimans absense. I think F.O probably gave up on Marlon Brown and others besides Aiken who can contribute. Not only that but if he turns out to be a hit than that partly eliviates the pressure of having to sign a FA WR or draft one.

Givens is a FA after the year, so it's really nothing more than a rental at this point.

I was thinking that it was more an indictment of Jeremy Butler. I would have expected him to be elevated if they saw any potential. Now if Givens starts over Brown, then I'd have to agree with you.

That might actually mean something such as The Ravens  may actually not be done with exploring trade options. If Givens can play like he did in 2012 or 2013 then this trade may be a steal.

Ugh that makes me think of Marlon Brown's rookie season. If only he could replicate.
