Ravens acquire Chris Givens from Rams

Givens is a decent player, won't be enough if SSS misses any significant time like it is starting to look but at least it is something.

I like Givens and think he will excel here.

And it's a shame about SSS, hope he can get back soon, but I don't think it's a season ruiner. I think Joe actually played better when he went out of the Pitt game.

It forced him to actually go through his progressions and to trust other guys to make plays. With SSS on the field he's locked in on him way too much and forced way too many balls in there, a few of which have been picked off and turned games.

If he's out for say 2 games I think it'll do more good in the long run, forcing Joe to throw to other targets and build some chemistry/trust. Then throw him back in the mix and we'll be much better for it.

We can win these next 2 without him. Givens is going to be a play maker right away, and Aiken will build on his performance Thursday.

I feel it. This season is going to turn around, an we'll get healthy just in time to be the hottest team in the league going into the playoffs with SSS, Perriman, possibly Pitta, and Urban all coming back.

Yea. Marlon is not who he was He needs a motivational speaker Like Matt Foley (Saturday Night Live=Chris Farley) We really need a supreme being like Gronk

Maybe Mick Foley...

Been looking at various Rams forums, the overwhelming sentiment is that he was underutilized in STL and could excel with playing time (which he will surely get here). They're all excited for him. Hope the move pays off. Pretty low risk trade for both sides.

And Givens has a golden opportunity for himself here. He's in a contract year and now gets a chance to become a #1 WR for this team. If he proves he can play for us he's going to earn himself some big bucks.

Good pickup I thought we had to trade for a decent wr even if SS and Campanaro were healthy. I expect him to play right away. He averages 16 yards per catch ! Just what we needed.

this isn't going to do anything..

so steve smith sr,,no camp

deep down, everyone knows whats going to happen..

just going downhill again from here..loss after loss.

some average dude from st louis who can't make it over a pretty modest receiving core isn't going to make us better.

dude... We literally just won. A win is a win. When you say stuff like this it just shows your in it for the attention.. Regardless of the outcome it's a win for you. We tank the season... You called. We turn it around and make noise, "your team" had a good year. Perfect

Do you really enjoy those yellow cornflakes?

Just because a player seems to be similar to another clone of a top talent,( Welker) doesn't make it so. So many intangibles determine that. Intellect, motivation, physical ability, etc, to say nothing of the quality of the team he plays for help in that equation.

Camp unfortunately can't stay healthy, just like Marlon Brown isn't inconsistent, trying to make ice cream from curdled milk won't cut it. Move on.

I would like the Ravens to see what they have in Waller, though I suspect that it is really too much to ask huge dividends early from such a young and inexperienced pro receiver.

With the trade of Tory Smith, Ozzie really dropped the ball despite drafting Perriman, with no backup plan, with an ageing Smith as our go-to-receiver. Now we have another WR that will require some time to get acquainted with Joe.

People here really live in a fantasy world. Our offense is now non existent. nadda ..zilch. Everyone here knows it.

When you say "people here" ... you imply ALL. Some definitely over value players on the home team. Others try to be cautiously optimistic. Others spew negativity at every opportunity. We'll see if anyone can guess which category you fall into.

Not sure when anyone has been picked up mid-season for a conditional that was a #1. So if he meets with your best case scenario, we've got someone serviceable ... that's not the same as "isn't going to do anything".

In the end, I think you can call him a one trick pony ... a speed guy - but that's one trick the team needs. If he can add speed, SSS can hopefully get back in a 2-3 weeks, Waller can gradually develop into something we may still be able to scratch out a couple wins in the next few weeks and still be in the hunt.

Or we can all give up and hope we go 1-15 and get a good draft pick. The choice is yours

.....you can hope all you want. without ssr and campanaro this is a 4-12 team. if any team had a wr core like this you would laugh them off as no hopers.

this team isn't good enough. even the 2013 recvieing core was better than this one

They really need to bring a second WR in. As it stands this is the WR corps

Waller - Unknown late round pick

Steve Smith, injured and possibly out for unknown amount time

Aiken - Should probably be a 3rd/4th WR at best

Camp IR'd

Brown - Should probably be a 3rd/4th WR at best

Givens - unknown if he will be like his first few years or more recent years, although i am pleased they got somebody

I didn't realize SSS was out for the year? If he is (or is even out for an extended period) then yeah, we're probably cooked, but thinking that he is, well, that's pure pessimistic speculation.

Waller is, as you say, raw as hell ... but I think a couple relatively minor adjustments and a little more time with his QB and he can be something of a threat. Aiken is mediocre, but could improve with more time with his QB as well.

I am trying to look at our upcoming schedule and see if there is some way we may be able to still scratch out a couple wins with, admittedly, one of the worst WR corp in the league, while we wait for SSS to return and for the youth to develop.

No one is going to mistake us for the greatest show on turf, but it is still a team that can find some wins.

Wow I didn't know Camp establish him self as a great receiver yet. I like the guy and all but  when has he become a player in which The Ravens absolutely need to win?  It sucks that he's on i.r right now because i thought he could be a solid slot receiver.

We all know we're fielding a crappy WR corps (not "core"...hilarious). Your attitude is the worst I've ever encountered. You actually went off on a player thanking the organization for the chance to play and show what he can do. Your posts are disgusting.

No doubt. This kid is the biggest downer these boards have EVER seen.

Someone get him his Burger King crown. He's earned it.

He obviously wants attention. There is no reason to be so consistantly negative about a team you allegedly are a fan of. It's not even worth the time responding to. It's why there's an ignore button, if people would just stop quoting him, it would be like he isn't even here!!

I like the move. He had a solid rookie year as a receiver and returner but had been buried in the depth chart the last couple of years. Dude has some speed so this was much needed.
