Ravens acquire Chris Givens from Rams

333 posts in this topic

It says that there's no reason to automatically slot Givens below Brown and Aiken.

I expect another trade if we're 3-3 in two weeks because that would mean the season still has potential.

in logic Yea. I'd be shocked if he played against the Browns

Doesn't even get open against 2/3.

Aiken vs. Haden will be hilarious.

to be fair Haden is supremely overrated

Rams fans saying he's better than his stats and he was never utilized correctly, much like Tavon Austin who they think would be a star on a better team. Even saw some speculating that he will breakout with Flacco. Not too shabby considering they practically gave him to us, it's far from a major move but could be another Will Davis type of addition. A guy in a bad situation who needs a change of scenery and a fresh start.

Good trade by Ozzie yet again, getting more value on our end than we give up at a position of need. Time to lean on the TE's and Forsett heavily these next few weeks.

TE TIME!

Yea I feel like we just have to find ways to be dynamic and make plays on offense until we get our playmakers back. Hopefully we can continue to run the ball effectively and maybe Chris Givens can open up things over the middle for Marlon, Aiken, and our TEs. Hopefully Gilmore makes a return soon and Maxx Williams continues to develop.

In theory we are expecting to have Perriman, and also Dennis Pitta added to the offense at some point this season... So if we could tough it out and find ways to win games until then we might just have ourselves a nice offense down the road...it just sucks we are in win now mode with all the injuries.

WR1: Steve Smith

WR2: Breshad Perriman

WR3: Kamar Aiken

WR4: Chris Givens

WR5: Marlon Brown

TE1: Dennis Pitta (if healthy)

TE2: Crocket Gilmore

TE3: Maxx Williams

That's an offense that could get it done for us for sure.

They will likely give Camp one more try . If he gets injured in trading camp he will be released

"Trading camp" gave me a much needed laugh in a 1-3 season trudging through injury limbo hell yet again. Much obliged. :P

With both Camp and Steve going out, (one permanently and the other indefinitely) dramatically reduces the likelihood of mounting a streak and resurrecting this season.

Our WR corps, which was already suspect, is now decimated. I've no idea how this can get corrected now.

He is a playmaker, when he gets his hands on the ball. Someone said he is a slower Jacoby...not a bad comparison, except he is every bit as quick as Jacoby.

The potential is definitely there, we "just" have to pull it out of him.

We're responsible for Givens' remaining $1.54M salary. That leaves us around $1.2M under the cap. No big named signings coming.

We've got No cap and are still fielding a bad team. Ugh

No doubt, imagine if Pitta came back to play for us this year, especially after losing Suggs?! Wow. Just wow.

In all honesty though, depending on our record and the timing of when he has to make that decision, it might be wiser to sit out the year and continue to strengthen that hip, especially if he is willing to risk returning to the NFL.

With the current state of our WRs we will carry 4TEs

Ozzie made a very small gamble for 1-3 team.   He would need to see something bigger and a better record to put his chips into the table.

Yep. Low risk trade, with potential for solid return. Definitely agree there is no point in giving up the farm for a stud when we are a 1-3 team

True, true. I had no idea how we'd win in Pit either (predicted a loss), but somehow THANKFULLY we did.

I would consider it a successful season given these crappy circumstances (cap & injury hell) if we can scrap together enough that going into the last 2 weeks against Pit and Cincy there was something to play for (even it was just mathmetical and we'd need help from other teams) than just having to play spoiler in the AFC North.

thats not surprising considering where the money is tied up, Monroe and Pitta, not to mention a ton of dead cap

Yup. Still wonder if the Vikes would be willing to give up Patterson though.

I agree. I think just fighting for a spot at the end will be a success at this point. I know some want to see us tank for a better draft pick, rather than get into that end of the year fight for a spot and come up short, but I think that's wrong headed thinking. I still want to see this team get as many victories as is possible, regardless of whether that leads to a postseason berth or not.

Why didn't we trade for him before all these injuries happened..

Probably wasn't on there radar until now. The Ravens may have liked their current receivers better at time and was hoping Perriman would have been ready to play by now.

Agreed that he's someone who should've been targeted in the offseason. But that was when the Aiken/Brown hype was in full force.

I like Patterson but  The Ravens would have to make more room for cap space before trading for him. Unless Patterson just looks totally useless for them as a receiver  then right now there's  no way The Vikes are trading Patterson because both of their top receivers are hurt.

I have no idea when their receivers will be healthy enough to play but it definitely won't be sunday.

Technically Kyle is also a TE.  Hybrid HB.   So 5 TE.  There you go.  5 WR, 5TEs...yep

Luckily we get a home game against the Browns who get destroyed against the run...I see Justin Forsett having a big game against them setting up a W. Then we travel to SF to play the worn down niners in what should be another win.

We have a 3 game home stretch against the Chargers, Jaguars, and Rams before going to CLE and Miami after that.

If we get healthy, come together and really make a push we could definitely still make the playoffs.

At this point, if pitta comes back, we might as well have him play reciever
