Ravens acquire Chris Givens from Rams

Jones would be nice. I still see us making a move for Vincent Jackson or Garcon, Roddy white, been pushing this idea for awhile. Just something I think happens. Hopefully givens can Jumpstart his career with a better organization and be here for awhile.

Of the three you listed I like Jackson's size the most but garcon is probably the best of the 3 , in my opinion .

I like Jackson the most of the three. Hes the one that I think can give the most production since hes had sub-par QB play in a poor offense with bad coaching and the dumpster fire that is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, hes also been pro bowl caliber in years past. Garçon would be a great fit, I like him a lot and his situation isn't much different than Vincent. Its a toss up honestly. White is a question mark. Hes had good QB play and yet hasn't been productive. I don't know how Id feel about him here.

Yea I hope we don't go after white but I just feel that is a typical guy we would Go after. I'm hoping for vjax to get Joe some size. Like I said this is just a hunch I have. I had a hunch marshal was going to be on the move last year, at least I got that right, just the wrong team lol

Im not feeling White either and I don't think the front office will either. He also isn't the kind of vet we'd go for since he would be cut from a good situation, we usually get guys who can produce and were held back by other factors.

He's got a Steve. Top 10 WR in the league when he's hot. I know it's not quite on par but it's a piece.

Crazy how this thread become a QB debate.

Not quite on par with the Cowboys receivers or Pats receivers is an understatement.

Ryan did really well in his last playoff run... they just aren't getting their often. Joe took a little time to get going and it looks like Ryan had reached that point, but we may never know for sure

Yeah the guy only has one playoff win but in that win he led a very clutch drive against the legion of boom to get a FG and win it.

I think Marvin Jones would be the best potential pickup for the Ravens, and he'd want to go to a team where he has a shot of being one of the top two guys. I also wouldn't mind the Ravens giving Andre Holmes a look if the Raiders don't get a deal don with him.

Not to mention he was balling out against the 49ers. He was absolutely shredding them. If he doesn't get hurt, I think we see a Falcons-Ravens Super Bowl. I still think the Ravens win, but the Falcons definitely deserved to go to the Super Bowl.

Which is stupid because even though i was upset at the divisional round play at the end, i was more than ready to welcome him back as a raven, he has done so much for us in the past, very instrumental in the success the last four years, one mistake wasnt going to negate that for me and i,m sure Baltimore would welcome back along with me. If he left because he thought he hurt us, then he is a baby, sorry but its plain and simple.

I don't think it was that at all. I think Torrey left because of the way the team turned it's back on Rice. They were really close, and Torrey stood by Ray through the whole mess, believing the team was more of a family than a business, and was pretty disillusioned to find out that it wasn't.

Anyway, welcome to Baltimore Chris Givens!!! We need all the help we can get!

Torrey left because of the almighty dollar - he got a great deal with the 49ers.

Givens might just hang out on the inactive list for a week or two... or he could be our starting returner with some spots on offense. All depends on Steve's health coupled with how comfortable the coaches feel with putting him out there. He was traded for to play, no doubt.

I'm hoping that 9 days is enough to get acclimated. Heck all we need him to do is run a few deep packages to make them respect the long ball- and the Kick returning is pretty self explanatory.

Torrey got an $8M signing bonus on top of his $750K.  His hit is $6.4M next year; and the next year, and the next year and the final year is even more, I believe.  I just don't see them keeping him and paying that kind of money out to him over the next 4 years....  Sorry, I just don't see it.

You see, this is where I'm thinking he will excel with us.  The talk at the beginning of the season was all about him. Givens was the most productive receiver of the offseason.  They just didn't seem to use him to his strengths.  Taking the top off, running past corners, and playing the deep ball.  He can do that here, and won't have a guy like Tavon Austin to compete for his job.  He and Perriman could be quite the duo next season, if he's still around.

to add onto that, boldin was in his ear telling Torrey about how we got rid of him.

I think it'll be awesome if he is close to Torrey in production. He was a pretty good WR for us. I think he'd be a steal if be put up the numbers Smith did while here.

from what i read most rams fans are pretty pissed and think he will succeed since flacco can throw it deep to him.

there is that for whats its worth lol

didn't read the rest of the posts, but a youtube vid from 2012 suggests he could have the same skillset as a former pittsburgh steeler that i do'nt care for. i'm inclined to believe in his potential, but since i do'nt know his injury history, i wonder if he's slowed down or lost confidence while on the rams. i remember targeting him in fantasy in recent years but he's not on the radar for most football fans. hopefully we can chalk this up to his being on the rams.

i also saw him in an old interview.. hopefully he's found a chip on his shoulder that needs severe brushing

Mostly because Kaepernick has completely forgotten how to be a passing QB.  That game against GB was just heinous.  Torrey would be close to earning a 6mil cap hit somewhere that has a pure passing QB.  In SF right now though?  No chance.

I actually don't think Givens has really been injured in his career, hes played 15, 16, 14, and every game this year so far.  Going from Bradford to Foles the idea may be right that he just hasn't had a big armed quarterback to take advantage of his speed.  Something of a reverse effect with the Ravens early in Flacco's career where the Ravens had no wide receivers where Flacco could take advantage of his arm.  In any event, here's to hoping a fresh start brings a new fire to Given's game.

Kid is still green but has the speed to make the browns play deep this game, which should give our TE and bigger WRs some space underneath to work. Even a short pass with this kid given the right defense can go yard. I like the deal so far, hope it works out in the game.

What QB in the league is good in the regular season but bad in the playoffs? Besides manning on occasion I can't think of One.

Besides Dalton and Ryan who have already been mentioned I would add Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Philip Rivers and Matt Stafford.

I haven't looked at the numbers to be honest, so they may not support my opinion, but they haven't passed the eye test. I've seen noticeable dips in play from all 6 when the pressure is turned up in the playoffs.

Romo is another one who couldn't get it done for years. Now recently he's sort of got that monkey off his back, but it definitely took a while to rid himself of that stigma.

And Romo?  Still hasn't rid himself of that in my opinion.  He won "A" playoff game.  Not giving him the love at all yet.  He puts up a lot of those fancy stat numbers BECAUSE he has had those weapons, not because he's great.

Every quarterback has worse playoff numbers.. I think Joe is the ONLY QB that actually gets better in the postseason.

I like Givens and think he will excel here.

And it's a shame about SSS, hope he can get back soon, but I don't think it's a season ruiner. I think Joe actually played better when he went out of the Pitt game.

It forced him to actually go through his progressions and to trust other guys to make plays. With SSS on the field he's locked in on him way too much and forced way too many balls in there, a few of which have been picked off and turned games.

If he's out for say 2 games I think it'll do more good in the long run, forcing Joe to throw to other targets and build some chemistry/trust. Then throw him back in the mix and we'll be much better for it.

We can win these next 2 without him. Givens is going to be a play maker right away, and Aiken will build on his performance Thursday.

I feel it. This season is going to turn around, an we'll get healthy just in time to be the hottest team in the league going into the playoffs with SSS, Perriman, possibly Pitta, and Urban all coming back.

Agree with everything said.  Just hope if SSS does come back that Joe doesn't fall back into the same habits of locking unto him so much.

Come Sunday I wouldn't be surprised if Givens became Joe's #1 WR almost right away. It's not like he has much competition. Aiken is at best a low-end #3 and Marlon "6'5, but plays like he's 5'9 and routinely drops passes" Brown just sucks. Then you have a rookie 6th rounder. He's more talented than all of them just has to get adjusted to our offense.
