[News] Byrne Identity: What To Think?

It was a big win last night. We can't afford to have a let down against the Browns, so lets start a winning streak we can talk about for a very long time and use to wash the bitter taste of the first three games out of our mouths.

Even if we do go 5-11, at least we'll come out of the season with some good speeches to remember. ;) BTW, as for the kicking team, it was not lost on me last night how well Cox, Koch and Tucker work together. Tucker makes great kicks in part because he gets a great snap and a great hold/spin. Watching Pitt on the two failed attempts, I noticed that at least once the holder didn't quite get the laces to the front. Did that make a difference? You'd have to think so.

I just chuckle every time I read or hear: "yeah, but we played teams that are 8-1!" Do you realize how stupid of a remark that is? Ummm....if we had won those games, they'd be 5-4!! Stupidest "logic" you can find. It's akin to saying...."yeah, we lost to the Yankees in a three game series, but, they are 3-0!!" Dumb and dumber.

Well, take away the victories against us, the teams that beat us are a combined 5-1, which is still good. And, more to the point, the only L was when two of those teams played each other. In other words, this trio has a perfect record after 3 weeks. And the Ravens had a chance in each of those 3 games.

I'm not saying the Ravens are perfect right now, there are a lot of things that need to be improved (everything, really pass rush, secondary, O-line, too many penalties...), and frankly i'm not sure all of this can be fixed. But it's a long season - we are a young team right now and everybody knew before the start that the schedule was front loaded. I'm not sure it's possible to overcome such a bad start to the season, but i'm pretty sure that if one team can do it, it's the Ravens, and that resiliency is one of the things i love most about this organisation.

i honestly think we should atleast consider reaching out to the Bears about Alshon, after this game being down potentially 1 starting WR and having the other banged up... we havent been good at drafting WR's at all, the ones we have drafted we allowed to walk cause they didnt pan out so far. this including the most recent one in torrey smith. So if we could strike a long term deal with Alshon like we did when we traded for Boldin then why not offer up a 2 and a 4 or something. We are going to have the most comp picks this year anyways.... i just dont see the harm in getting a known and able receiver for picks since we cant draft one to save our lives...

No one is saying that the Ravens are "throwing in the towel". What we are saying is that each of these games that they tossed away were winnable. Poor schemes, poor execution. lack of talent, all contributed to losing games that should have been in the win column. Anyone who tninks Flacco is "elite" and in the class of Brady or Rogers is a fool. Flacco cost us the Denver game and the Cincinnati game. The defense was accountable for Oakland. 37 points? To Oakland? Good grief. While Flacco gave Pittsburgh two scores, one on an absolutely dumb throw into the hands of a Pittsburgh defender, then running the ball, carrying it in one hand, and, of course losing it. You want elite? We have one. His name is Tucker. Without him, we lose. Just ask the Steelers.

To La Conforta's point ... I get the desire for having a high draft pick ... I mean, if you aren't making the playoffs, what's the point of a decent record that has you drafting 16th ... why not just tank and draft 4th?

I just don't see it that way. If your roster is bad enough that the best you can do is post up a 5-11 record - then that's what you are and that's where you draft. But if you are good enough to post up an 8-8 or 9-7 record and not make the playoffs ... that too is what you are and so that is where you draft.

I believe this team is better than a 5-11 record and to hit that record means to some measure they are giving up on the field. That to me is damaging beyond what a higher pick can repair. Playing under your talent is never OK, no matter what it brings you in the draft.

Joe really needs some weapons. Outside of Steve Smith and Gillmore he really lacks the confidence of throwing to these other guys although Aiken did have a solid game. We also have 2 other very good tight ends in Williams and Boyle who I want to see utilized more. Joe is our QB and I stand by my QB. Win lose or draw I'll be behind my boys. GO RAVENS

I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't. Now ... whether or not they'll be able to strike a deal is another matter. I think CHI will want a lot and I don't think we're going to be willing to cough up too much to make a deal .. but I have to think this is a team that explores their options.

We should be able to win a game ugly and still be proud of the accomplishment. All these so called fans and so called experts want to paint the Ravens as losers and finished. I say hogwash. We will most likely have a few more stinker games but I could care less. Give me a win (no matter how we do it) and I will be happy. We will also lose a few more in all probability but that goes with the territory. This team and this city has hearts of lions. Now that I have had my rah rah moment on to the next game.

There Is a reason why Tucker always says "we made the kick" he knows and acknowledges that it is three people who have to get everything just right.

There must be some NFC team that would love to have someone like Timmy Jernigan, in exchange for a (cap appropriate) front line WR. B. Williams is a beast and Carl Davis looks like the real deal.

Has anyone seen anythi g from the Bears where they've said they're even interested in dealing Forte of Alshon? I haven't. What I saw was reporter speculation after the Bears dealt some mediocre veterans near the end of their careers after a loss.

There's zero evidence that the Bears are open to trading their top playmaker who is still on his rookie contract.

In fact I think all this talk about Alshon is bologne.

No offense, Byrne, but we still have a long way to go... Definitely enjoy this win and ride it as long as you can before we lose the next one...

Had Big Ben played yesterday, we surely would've lost with the talent we currently have. With that said, it was a good win, but we're also 1-3 right now, and the whole we dug is still huge and one we might not be able to get out of.

There's still a tremendous amount of doubt regarding players/ coaches- we'll see how this plays out.

Nice Spin Kevin.

Lets clarify a couple things. Its the Prevent Zone that sucks. Not sure Webb can cover in Man or Zone anymore.

The not taking 3 points on the road when you are down by 6 and are 0-3, Good way to get fired for being STUPID.

It was the Squeelers that won it for us with their bone head play calling, and lack of execution in putting that game away. That being said, they deserved to lose, they had it won.

The good news, Our Defense actually made 2 critical stops in a row, albeit, those were on bonehead play calls, but I Will Take it!

I liked the fight in our Rookies. I definately want to see more of that. I want to see more 2 Tight End sets, with 10-15 yard crossing routes, and curls, on 3rd downs, and WR's working back towards the ball knowing a blitz is coming.

I Never want to see everybody go deep, and get Joe killed again.

Webb should not be opposite Jimmy anymore. He is not effective at all, and is a major liability. There has to be a better option at cb, forget about the money, swallow your pride, we need wins.

I liked the fight in Forsett, I saw improved run blocking, not sure whats up with K.O. though.

Love the Tuck Money Man.

Would like to see us scheme up more corner blitzes with Webb if he has to be out there.

So I saw on NFL Network, the running ticker at the bottom saying Breshad Perriman (knee) is out indefinitely... What exactly does that mean ? Are they leaving him active roster in hopes he can come back instead of IR because it would end his season? (cuz we used the designated to return tag)

i dont know who is available out there but we really could use a deep threat wr. we have a bus full of possession wrs, one of them is a as fragile as a china doll, and the other is our mvp whos 36 and be fatigued or injured by week 10 if he is still carrying the team on his back. Now they either they put Waller on the fast track, jack his reps and tune his pro skills or we need to acquire a nomad, anyone with speed that can just spread the field and provide a threat to defenses. The ball doesnt really have to go there a lot, but the D does have to cover him leaving some open spaces underneath and assist us in drawing favorable defensive match ups instead of everyone being blanketed. Is anyone out there because it doesn't seem like our No#1 Draft Pick Perriman is coming back this anytime remotely soon and without this key element to our offense for everything to work right, rushing & passing...whats the plan here? if none, we have a long and ugly offensive season ahead of us and a lot of 3rd and Longs.

And what did you all think of Will Hill last night and Will Davis I think those guys did pretty good and both came up with some big plays for the Ravens. I hope we can get Flacco some confidence with Aiken and Brown cuz we cant just throw to 2 targets we need to spread the ball more. and we dont really have any other threats
