You're not wrong. There are other guys I'd prefer to him, but if we took Stanley at 6 I'd be thrilled.

I think he's a n upgrade right now over monroe with a ton more upside. It seems almost irresponsible to have to keep renting and make shifting our left tackle position if we could land a player that could stick for ten years.

If we go with Monroe, we are looking at almost an entire overhaul on offensive line in 2017.

Ron Stanley will be a better pro than roided up Tunsil. Ron Stanley has upside, intelligence, athleticism , balance and underrated strength. Just ask Leonard Williams. and if ravens get Ron Dtanley get the better of this draft!! Ron Stanley will be exciting to see after a year in ravens strength training regimen with Urschel Wagner and Jensen. He jumps up his intensity for elite competition as Leonard Williams found. And Will be motivated to get stronger and in top playing shape to confront the games elite edge rushers. Especially  now that he is through with school football training will be his new classes. Will challenge for best left tackle and ravens will get the better of this draft with Ron Stanley being better than Tunsil.Ron Stanley playing at a stronger leaner 316-320 lbs will be very dominant with guys like Yanda Jensens fire breathing style rubbing off on Ron Stanley.

Totally!! In my opinion  Will be the better pro. Tunsil being juiced up is not going to get any stronger a run blocker. Ron Stanley is far stronger than he looks and will get stronger and more  athletic than he already is when he hits an NFL strength and training program. I finally watched some of his games and was impressed. He plays with pride and really stood his game up when he dominated Leonard Williams.  So now that he has graduated I believe he will stand up to the challenges of facing elite edge rushers and look to get better. I do believe  He will want to get stronger and in better shape for the challenges  in front of him. He clearly cranked the intensity and agression up some notches for his duel with Williams. He is stronger than he looks to go with his gifted athleticism  balance length and intelligence. And he definitely overpowered Williams and frustrated him and moved him off the ball. He was motivated and showed stronger blocking than Tunsil has. And Ron Stanley will get stronger and more explosive in an nfl training program now that he is graduated he can focus on it. And he will cuz he shows he plays with pride in the Leonard Williams  duel. he Played with agression. And Yanda and Jensen will rub off on him and he will breathe more fire in his play. Ron Stanley at a stronger leaner agressive 315-320 lbs will be a real force in the nfl!! His commitment to classes and degree  is not a bad thing. He is intelligent and put effort  into his degree and education. He is committed  to football now and has room in his schedule for an intense training program. Tunsil may play a little nastier but Ronnie Stanley plays with more natural strength  And anchor. Ron Stanley is going to he the superior player. And ravens will get the better tackle and player at a later draft position.

I don't disagree with you. I am just surprised. I'm not sure where all this Ronnie Stanley hate came from around here. I think it's partially due to the fact that we actually seem to have a shot at him. Fans seem to over-analyze and think prospects whom they believe their teams have a chance to get and deify players their teams likely won't get. I watched a lot of Ronnie Stanley and I saw some games where he went one-on-one against Shaq Lawson against Clemson. A lot of people here seem to like Shaq Lawson but I am not a fan; however, ironically some of those same people who like Lawson and think he'll be a good player and would consider him at #6 don't like Stanley at the same pick. Guess what? Stanley dominated Lawson when he played him.

I always hear that Stanley isn't a good run blocker, but I see him get downfield and block and make impact plays in the run game. He doesn't consistently throw guys to the ground, but neither does Laremy Tunsil. I also hear that Stanley isn't strong enough, but he stood up Shaq Lawson quite a few times and held him in place on other tries. He neutralizes Lawson's spin move on a nice recovery as well. I don't know if I agree with you that Stanley is better than Tunsil, but I do think he could be. I'm not sure about these rumors saying that Stanley doesn't love football, either. I'd really like to know from where they came. I think if we were picking 32 we would be praying to have a chance to get Stanley.

Just my two cents.

If anybody thinks he takes no pride in football just watch him push Williams around. He has strength to do that and ravens fire breathing linemates will rub off on him. And he will get stronger in an nfl program. 12-16 lbs of muscle on Ron Stanley to go with his natural strength  athleticism  balance and intelligence  And he will be a monster in the nfl.

I think a lot of people get too caught up in thinking Stanley isn't a good run blocker because he doesn't have this big mean streak.  Could he use some work in the run game?  Sure, but a mean streak does not automatically equal a good run blocker, and I think that's where a lot people are getting caught up on him.  I still like Tunsil better, but by no means does that put Stanley down.  He's a damn good player in his own right.  I feel like it's almost a crime now to like multiple guys at the same position.

That is so true. A player can be nasty  but not have strength  And athleticism to impose his will. Tunsil looks better now while all raided up but Stanley has upside once he hits an nil strength program and has far better upside than Tunsil.

What I noticed about Stanley when I compared him against Tunsil is there isn't a world of difference between them. The biggest difference is just that Tunsil plays straight-up nasty at times with guys and Stanley doesn't do that at this time. That's really the biggest difference. I love the nastiness, personally, so that's why I have Tunsil higher than Stanley; however, that doesn't preclude that Stanley is not that good. As I said, Stanley did very well against Shaq Lawson, so if you're one of those people talking him up and talking down about Stanley (not you, btw) then you should really watch that Clemson game when Stanley played Lawson. You will see Stanley win his match-up and stand Lawson up and control him and essentially neutralize that sweet spin move he has.

I saw Stanley get to the second level quite a bit as well and he demonstrated nice downfield blocking. I really see no issue with him as a run blocker, but that's just me. I've now caught up and watched all Notre Dame games for 2015 and half of those from 2014. Some know this, but my friend is a very big (alumni) Notre Dame fan and he records the games and I spent some time last week catching up on Stanley's tape.

This is the first time I heard anything about Tunsil being roided up. Where did you hear this?

What I do like about Stanley is his lower body. It's much, uh, bigger compared to Tunsil, lol. Tunsil has a huge upper body, though, but man Stanley has a nice lower-half. That lower-half is a key area for OL.

I'll just respond to the middle here since the top echoes my sentiments.  When I watched Stanley, I agree that he's a good run blocker.  I think my biggest issue with him (if you even want to call it that) is that there are times where I want to see that nastiness and it's not there.  Again though, that's not necessarily a bad thing.  He's a damn good player.  I loved Greg Robinson a couple of years ago but Tunsil and Stanley are both well above my liking for Robinson at this point.

I feel like were at the point where a lot of guys are getting spurned because they aren't the preference.  I'll admit Stanley isn't exactly my preference, but I would still be ecstatic if we got him.  I think a lot of people are just putting others down so the guy that they want seems like the "no brainer" option.

I agree. I think so as well. I think Stanley, Tunsil, and even Conklin to a lesser extent are all excellent OL prospects that may become great OTs in the NFL. Conklin needs more work than either of the top two, but he has a lot of potential and I liked how he actually played against good competition. But this isn't about him, lol. Anyway, I digress--Stanley doesn't show the nastiness you want and he isn't out there smacking people in the mouth but he does get it done and that's what you want a LT to do. I still think he'd be a Hell of a pick and I wouldn't be mad if we took him. He reminds me a bit of Monroe, yes, but then again, he also reminds me a bit of Lane Johnson, and he turned out to be a very good football player. I actually think he is better than Lane Johnson.

Ironically enough, Johnson was the third OT taken in that draft but turned out to be one of the best and certainly better than the two taken before him.

Awesome you noticed Ronnie Stanley's lower half. His legsvand hipsvare stocky and flexible. He is naturally very strong with a big frame. When that dude hits an nfl strength  And conditioning  routine He is going to be awesome!! Tunsils upper body is more developed than lower cuz that is a characteristic of the juice. Tunsil and Nkemdiche are juiced up. Ron Stanley has far more upside. And is naturally bigger and stronger. Ron Stanley may not always playbnasty yet but he raises the intensity and agression several notches for elite competition. Just ask Leonard Williams!! So Ronnie Stanley takes football competition with pride. And he is intelligent athletic and plays with balance. He wasvavreal college student and put effort in his major. He now give football training and the gym his full attention. And his upper body will catch up to his lower body. And He will learn to play breathing fire from Yanda and Jensen. He can handle edge speed fine but when he gets acclimated with a good nfl routine he Will become even more athletic and explosive as his upper body catches up with his lower body and gets more muscular leaner and balanced to throw in with his mix of athleticism  strength intelligence and length. He is going to be a monster for the ravens!! He could very well become the best left tackle in the game. His big stocky legsvand hips moving that flexible smooth and explosive is a very rare blend!! He plays with pride evidence of his aggression against Leonard Williams and will hit the weight room to prepare for his battles with elite nfl edge rushers he will be confronted with. Wouldn't it be so totally cool to trade back couple spots pick up an extra round2 then draft Ronnie Stanley and get  Jaylen  Smith in round2??!! You guys thinking what I'm thinking here. Maybe best left tackle and linebacker in the game in one draft. Again!! Jaylan if He returns to form could be most explosive lb in the nfl . And an early round2 steal!! then trade up for Spence. And Jihad or Chris Jones or best dtackle  in round3 and Sean Davis  And Demarcus Robinson round4.  That could be like bootlegging talent!! Ravens could end up with 4 pro bowlers in one draft.i really like Ron Stanley. Getting he and then jaylan or even Deion Jones round2 would be awesome.  I would like Demarcus Robinson as well. He is really a cool humble guy and works very hard now. And a round1 talent. He is going to be a steal for some team. Ravens could get much better.

Case in point is our pro-bowl Guard who should have had a contract extension last year now gone. What do you think we realistically get for him next year as a comp? (4th rounder is my bet) Sounds like a losing proposition for a 2nd rounder turned pro-bowler. Now looking for another early pick to replace a pro-bowler.

What highly drafted player would've been worth the money we would've given them? Wouldn't have paid guys like Kruger, Oher, Torrey Smith half the money they got. Also we had to choose between Yanda and Osemele. I'd still take

Yanda over Osemele every day. Even then Osemele had no interest in signing a contract extension and knew he was going to hit the open market.

He also gives half-butt effort in the second level blocking aspect of the game too often for me to feel comfortable.

Ozzie's inability to retain highly drafted players is not his fault. When a team wins ALL the players want a raise and he can't pay them all. That being said I am glad for the way Steve Bisciotti is handling things. Trying new things while keeping the basics the same, continuity. I feel confident in this organization going forward for a long time as long as Bisciotti owns it.

And that's the big area where I wanted to see that nastiness and it's just not there.

I don't think Stanley is the pick regardless, for what it's worth.  I'd guess we'd go defense in some capacity first.

I think Stanley is a strong trade back candidate. If he could hit the weight room hard, I don't see any reason (other than a lack of nastiness and consistent effort) that he couldn't be a top 5 LT, if not the best LT, in a few years.

But I'm in agreement that I'd see defense before anything else.

He is really a cool humble guy and works very hard now. And a round1 talent. He is going to be a steal for some team. Ravens could get much better.

For what it is worth, this is one of the best post I've read on these boards in some time. As well as the other recent ones from Winchester regarding Stanley today.  Good info, well stated and well thought out.  Makes me wonder why Tunsil is so much highly rated over Stanley when perhaps it might be the other way around. I know Winchester has taken heat at times for some of his past posts, but I really enjoyed this.

That is very true.  This is a condition of what the league is.  A player coming off their rookie contract or ERFA especially.  Honestly, a player rarely gets a chance at two large paydays in a career.  They get one.  If they are a lower round draft pick and haven't received a large signing bonus, they are going to look for the payday.  I am sure most would like to begin and end a career with a winning organization, such as the Ravens.  But if we have a stable of great talent, you are going to lose them because the market value of the player (depending on position) is going to drive their worth.

Having young talent, and ERFA's locked down that have good talent is a great business move.  If you can keep that trend rolling, you can keep the shelves stocked for less $$$ and afford to pay the key players market value.  The rest you may have to part with because of the numbers game.  As long as Oz can keep coming up with high output players at value pricing for 1-4 years of their careers and then let others shell out the green when payday rolls around......the formula can continue to work.  Yanda and Osemele are a good example.

Do you have a source for the steroid allegation against Tunsil? I'm guessing this is why you have changed your opinion from Tunsil to Stanley.

Im pretty sure shaq lawson dominated stanley. He bull rushed him all game and stanley could do nothing about it. Against lsu i saw him get thrown down twice in a row when the play was over and yet he did nothing about it. Couldn't stand up for himself

He seems lacksidasical at times and seems to have a hard time keeping his balance. Against boston college he got bull rushed and ended up on his butt at one point.

Im not saying stanleys a bad prospect. I just see him more of a boom or bust type player. Has all the intangibles to be a great left tackle but i see him get pushed around a bit too much on tape and it worries me about his floor

Not even close. Ron Stanley stopped his bullrush and spin move like he was a girl. As far as retaliation when he was thrown after a play. What is the point when he is dominating  the guy during play. No cheap shot is going to even the score!! He already won. It is like when you date a pretty girl and some dude that likes her or a guy she dumped attempts to do childish things to get at you. Why retaliate, you won

Lawson did get the better of Stanley even though Stanley did play better in the fourth quarter. Stanley does have good potential especially if he would spend more time in the weight room. His reported lack of work ethic will make it hard for Stanley to live up to his potential.

That's his other red flag besides lack of ideal core strength. He flashes but he hasn't put it together.
