[News] Justin Forsett Gets Ravens Run Game In Gear

48 posts in this topic

Every offense thrives when they are able to run.

Yes, 2013's oline was a lot worse, i was just using that as an example of what will happen when you try to force the run when there's nothing there.  But until last night our tackles have looked terrible.

ok, u can say the same thing about the passing game too, if u force the pass when there's nothing there, it won't work, like last night game 1st drive, what i'm saying is there has to b balance and usually when ratio is tilted towards the run game (more runs vs passes), we win games.

Hopefully Monroe's return can help the run game even more. We need teams to respect the run, since our O-line has been allowing way too much pressure on passing plays. You saw how much the Steelers respected the run when Joe successfully ran a classic play-action bootleg, tossing a completion to Waller (I think?) in the middle of the field near the end of the game.

We have 3 very good tight ends that need to be utilized more. I really think this offense is 1 WR away from being lethal. I'd like to see Camp get more touches! He's not the biggest of guys but he's shifty and very good in open spaces. With good playcalling and Protection for Joe there is no reason why this offense can't be one of the best in the league.

I know the run sets up the pass most times, but I don't know how the Steelers couldn't key on the run and force us to pass? That was what Cincy. did and we couldn't pass our way back into the game or pass effectively to back them off the line so as to set up the running game. I don't know how the steelers botched that up. All they had to do is stuff the line of scrimmage, I would think, especially with SSS and Campanaro out of the game.

To Purple nd Black... I think Joe is not playing at that very consistent level we all think he is. Don't get me wrong, I love Flacco and don't want any other QB, but he can play better, that is all I'm saying. Also, we need to call more passes, certainly longer passes, deep shots (15 - 20 yards) a few times more each game because Flacco has a great arm and I feel we need to use him like most of the other good teams use their QB. I'd rather lose with him having a bad game throwing than lose because the play caller never used him at all. In other words, I feel we should put the game on Joe's shoulders a bit more, instead of restraining him and thinking we can always run for close to 200 yards to squeak out wins, especially vs. good teams that aren't afraid to pass the ball.

@Ravenstime I agree. I also feel as if all the pieces aren't quite in place around Joe as well. 8 years now and he has never had a legit #1 receiver. I'd love to see what Joe could do with A.J Green or Julio Jones. Yes we all know Joe can play better because we've all seen it before.

Brady doesn't have A.J.Green or Julio Jones either, yet he manages to get the ball to his receivers. Joe is what he is, a flawed quarterback who can be great one play and absolutely stink the place out on the next one. He has been like this his entire career here, except in the playoffs. There he was truly a top rank quarterback. So far, he has played poorly in both the Denver game and the Cincinnati game, and his miscues almost cost us the Pittsburgh game. Oakland was on the defense. 37 points to Oakland? Good grief. We have one truly elite player. That is Tucker. If you doubt it, just ask the Steelers.

Steelers don't have the talent in the secondary that the Bengals and the Broncos have. Ravens need to bring in another WR. They can't afford to just hope guys stay healthy.

yes we are grateful for the win but if the steelers had a descent kicker than we are 0-4. fake fg was an awful call. never leave points behind. 10 days to heal up and hopefully sign a deep threat receiver that will help open up the offense and give it more of a balance. i was impressed with the defense but pees must play the cb's closer to the line and not give the receivers 10 yards of cushion. pass rush must be more consistent.

JF runs well and odds are we win.    Man, he looked great. I was impressed with newly acquired Will Davis and Aiken.  CAmp had a great red zone score.  I hope he's Aok  .

Some of the things I noticed about the Ravens. One When they pass rush they don't jump up or stick their hands up to deflect a pass much. Two, Only Yanda will run down field to continue blocking. Only a few guys (Yanda and tight-ends was helping their running back off the ground in the 4th and OT. Three this team looks a lot like 2013. Joe getting sacked and not very big holes to run thru.

Forsett got the running game in gear, but when is Flacco going to get into gear? He needs to give his paycheck to Justin Tucker.

Joe is strange. Its like he only getting paid enough for 5 good throws per game  the rest are "close enough" throws and one great throw during cruch time.Strange guy.

It's glad that we go the win, but I am nowhere near content with our overall play. 1-they didn't have their starting QB, and certain Ravens coaches need to thank Scobee for saving their job(s) another week. Management needs to go and get a wide receiver or 2 with some ***speed*** to compliment Flacco's deep ball and spread the field. It's not rocket science, these receivers run routs as if their in quick sand and can never get open which leads to Joe Cool getting his helmet knocked sideways every play. #ComeOnOzzie

Damn it Mink!

Yes, Forsett and O-line had one game where they could run the ball. But considering they have been league's last for 3 weeks, you can't say "running game is now in gear" after 1 successful game. Even if we can run the ball well for the next 2 games, we would still be 3-3 in succesful running game category. This game and success at run game might as well have been a fluke. We need to see constant success after make such statements.
