[News] Justin Forsett Gets Ravens Run Game In Gear

48 posts in this topic

Say what you will............but Joe Flacco got pounded and Trestman had no answer for the short side blitz, Maybe Juan Castillo had no answer but the run game clicked some and we won. That said if Trestman is a genius I must be Enstein. Someone must find either a line that can block for 6 to 8 seconds or a reciever that can get open in 2 seconds. Play calling has tp protect Joe,our tight ends are either terrible or we have no plays for them. Pittsburgh struggled at the corners but the Trestman ballet zone Castillo coached line couldn't give our offense a chance to hit a pass till late. We won but Alshon Jeffery looks worth a 4th round pick with Smith,Campanaro ailing,Perriman a bust and new life in our season. Joe needs help!.

staying committed to the run win u games, that's baltimore's recipe for success, if we did that last 3 games we would be 4-0, but our problem is our coaches try to be cute with personnel we have and lose games. last night we saw the good ol'Ravens running the ball down the squeeler's throat.

just run it!!!!

@Colorado RavensFan: No question the fumble was terrible. But the 10 players surrounding him in the second half after Smith came out was worse than the offenses that Cleveland and Carolina field each week. Flacco was out there with rookies- as many as FOUR at a time just at the skill positions- and second/third-year undrafted free agent unproven players who can't get separation. Also the worst left tackle in the league getting blitzed time after time. The throw to Aiken on 3rd and 10 with a DB coming at his blindside at 100 mph was unreal.

Last night it looked like we ran a lot of Kubiak old plays and it worked well. I hope we continue to run a zone running scheme, our offense is built for it

Though the line gave up 5 sacks... It was one of their best showings... they picked up the blitz extremely well and for the most part created highways for the backs to run through.. we just gotta figure out how to stop shooting ourselves in the foot and we will be alright... to many times we turn the ball over and give the opposing team life... before the pick we were doing whatever we wanted... we were already in Steeler territory when it happened.. with momentum on our side... that game should have been a wire to wire win... the play calling was suspect at times.. but it is what it is... would like to see some more screen plays.. bootlegs.. something to keep defenses from the constant blitzing...

Forsett played a lot better in this game than he did in the past 3. I think those losses finally got to our guys heads. Also I criticized Kamar Aiken since pre-season. But he did make some huge plays for us last night, so I sincerely appreciate his effort and hopes he keeps it up.

Well trying the force the run, when its not working will kill your offense.  We saw it a lot in 2013 and we have seen a lot of it in the first half of games.  I don't think Trestman wants to stop running the ball but when you need to make a comeback and your running back is only averaging 3 yds a carry you need to throw it.

In many ways they definitely looked better, but the defense was in Flacco's face way too much

It was good to see Trestman finally use playaction at the end of the game but am I the only one wondering why Flacco isn't throwing more passes to Forsett. Do they not trust him as a receiver?   For years throwing to the running back was a huge part of the Ravens offense and it is supposed to be a staple of Trestman's offense.  Yet, we are seeing it used.  Even after they were playing without Gillmore, Smith and Camp, and the offense needed playmakers.

Yes Joe has made a couple bad turnovers but he always gives us a chance to win at the end like many times before our receivers let us down.

B4 I forget... A big shout out to the newest member of the secondary... Will Davis... he competed his tail off out there... was in good position and made plays...had two pass break ups... keep up the good work...

It's funny that when the O-Line opens up holes, the RB is said to have a good game and when the O-Line opens up nothing, we get on the RB for having a bad game. Live and die by the play of the O-line.... and D-Line

Forsett is our every down back that needs to be fed (20 touches a game). Taliaferro, and should only be used in short yardage, and Allen should give Forsett a breather from time to time. Forsett has the best vision, patience, and ability to make guys miss. Stop playing running back roulette and let him get into a rhythm. Same with our O-Line, they need to get into a rhythm and in the 2nd half is when we can wear teams out.

I was glad to see the running game get going, it was much needed. Because we opened up with the passing game and it was getting us no where. We went to the screen game and Camp turned into a touchdown, on nice run in. Justin Forsett reminded us and other people he still has it. I hope this is able to continue, I figured we gave ourselves a huge boost by winning this game.

Now with that win we lost some guys. Camp being carted to the locker room, after what like a very promising game. Then something happens and he's being carted out.I don't know how serious his injury is, but it can't be good.  Steve Smith Sr. goes out and doesn't return to the game. If you didn't see it, he took a shot on the Steelers sideline, which left him on his back for a few seconds. He gets up and trots back to the field and falls down. I don't know how serious that is either, but 10 days should do our entire some good, by giving them some much needed rest.

In the end, this game was won on heart, other guys stepping up like Kamar Aiken, Justin Forsett, the offensive line, and Justin Tucker. Everything wasn't on Joe Flacco. The steelers were all over Joe and he hung in there like a champ. We played all the way to the end and then some, 4 quarters just wasn't enough. Although it wasn't pretty, this game was one hell of a dog fight, and we came out on top. Now lets get this rest in and go a win streak. Lets Go Ravens, Ball so hard.

Was great watching those holes open up and Forsett taking off like the wind. Hope this is the start of Forsett piling up yards again. Good to see both offensive line and Forsett is back to usual like last year. Good job guys.

1-3? We are the Baltimore Ravens and I never thought we would get here. But, man am I glad we aren't 0-4 like I was certain we were going to be for the majority of the game last night. All's well that ends well but we got to keep going and stacking wins till we are like 5-3 and then continue winning till we get to a respectable 10-6! I think the most we can afford to lose are 3 games till the final regular season game to have a sniff at the playoff picture.

we never had a good OLine back in 2013. we're a run 1st team, our offense thrives when we run the ball effectively.

Every offense thrives when they are able to run.

Yes, 2013's oline was a lot worse, i was just using that as an example of what will happen when you try to force the run when there's nothing there.  But until last night our tackles have looked terrible.

agreed, u have to be committed to the run game, that's our bread and butter, don't try to be cute with the passing game we just dont have the personnel for the passing game yet.
