[News] Late For Work 10/2: Ravens Breathe Second Life Into Season

131 posts in this topic

I was nervous the whole 2nd half...but way to grind it out. I must say the play off the game was Kendrick Lewis tripping up Le'Veon Bell on his longest run in OT, after he broke that tackle by CJ mosely and sprinted up the sideline I just knew he was gone. But Lewis brought him down and they ended up failing on 4th down. This game should serve as a blueprint for dean pees, when u bring pressure good things happen, when u dont you give up plays and put ur defense in some messed up situations. We have a real shot at 3-3 these next 2 weeks with CLE and SF up next. if we can go into the bye week 5-3, or at worst 4-4, the back half of our schedule seems more favorable with all of those home games. Maybe SSS and Camp injuries are blessings in disguise, because now waller will get 1st team work and he and Joe can practice those jump balls, and back shoulders, because this guy is 6'6 and runs a 4.4 Joe has to take advantage of this matchup nightmare. Also, u can neg me for this but i believe if SSS was still in the game, we woulda lost becuase Joe would have tried to force the ball to him. but rest easy for these 10-11 days...see yall on the 11th!!!

Steve Smith is fast becoming the crutch that Joe Flacco leans on too much, like he used to with Pitta.  I don't think that is a good thing at all considering he isn't building chemistry with the other receivers that will actually be around next year.

1: Camp is a monster in the slot like I've been saying since last year

2:I watched Will Davis all game and he was playing like a first round pic so I have to call him a steal!

I don't know why my beloved Raven Nation doesn't like Will Hill that much. Will Hill is Cool, Man. He's no Ed but he's better than Will Demps. Demps was Cool so Real Deal Will Hill is cooler. He's a Football Player

If Marlon is as bad as you guys think he is... why was it Kamar's snaps affected to let Camp get on the field... I watched the CSN Raven post game show... and they were begging for Trestman to find a way to get Marlon involved... no one is talking about how he beat Pacman off the line on the final play but Flacco decided to throw it to Maxx over the middle... I am not ready to cast judgement on this young man until he's given plays in the game plan..

He dropped two easy balls which would have both been first downs, with no defender near him. People are saying he is bad because he consistently drops balls.

Defense was solid for sure. My favorite part was seeing two great defensive stops by Will Davis. I wonder if he will be a steal like Corey Graham was for us a couple years ago. He looked very good and sharp and always timed his jumps to defend the ball right. I remember Webb missing the ball earlier in the game as it soared behind him with a mistimed jump. Our safeties have been solid too Keenan Lewis hasn't had great plays so far but he isn't giving up big ones either so I am okay with that. Already looks like an upgrade over Darian Stewart.

I think our CBs are playing too far off. Almost every play they were lining up 10 or more yards back. QBs  will eat that all game long.

People need to stop saying our WRs can't get open. Including that has-been Phil Simms. Last night when Joe was sacked, I believe for the third time, that numnuts said no one was open and I believe one WR was open on the left side of the field down the sideline when he showed video to prove, but it didn't, his point. What we as fans can't see during the game is the whole field. When you look at the coach's tape you see people open. Not all the time but most of the time.

The problem in my humble opinion is a lack of rapport and timing. Joe and the "rest" of the WRs need to develop those. Too many years have gone by in which the pass plays have homed in on one WR-- enough of that crap spread the dang ball around.

It's not the first time this season that flags have stayed in the pockets of the officials when they should have been thrown in our favour. In fact, it must be about the 10th time and it's getting silly; especially as they get thrown against us at nearly every opportunity.

There was also the late hit called on us a few plays later. The replay clearly showed our guy getting run into from behind which caused him to fall onto the pile.

I love me some Will Hill.  In the Ravens secondary Will is the highlight.  Webb has been weak, Smith has been up and down and Lewis....is that dude even playing?  This Will Davis guy from Miami looks pretty interesting.

People continue to try and somehow rip Flacco when it was Flacco who stood in the pocket, knowing he was gonna get hit, and delivered a 20 yard pass to Aiken, which set up the game tying field goal. Without that pass, your hero Tucker wouldn't have gotten that chance.

Just went back to show my wife the BIGHEADSPORTS vine tweet, showing our guy getting held but wasn't flagged, and it's gone. NFL pulled it for copywrite issue......or they didn't want everyone to see how inept their officials are!

When people start throwing around words like "elite" to describe football players, Justin Tucker, not Joe Flacco, should be in the sentence. Flacco almost made the Ravens 0-4. His awful interception and then his ridiculous fumble both gave the Steelers points. A truly "elite" quarterback takes care of the ball. If the Ravens don't lock up Tucker, they are dumber than a rock. While Flacco stumbles, Tucker excels in his craft. No one, that is NO ONE, is more important to the Ravens than Tucker. If the Ravens could only draft wide receivers and defensive backs of the same calibur as this guy, we would be a lock for the Division.

Not every bad play is a sign that the player is bad, you know.  Aaron Rodgers had a bad fumble this past Monday as well.  When you're running for your life, sometimes you fumble, it's not like some unheard of thing that good QBs never fumble.  It was Flacco's first lost fumble in over 20 games, if I recall what I read correctly.  And it was unlucky, to boot, that ball 9 times out of 10 just goes out of bounds, it was miraculous for the Steelers that they were able to recover that in-bounds.  The INT was in no way "awful".  If that was an awful INT then EVERY INT is an "awful INT", but if that's the case then why even call it "awful"?  It was just an INT.  That was a really smart defensive scheme on that play, they disguised the blitz on one side, making it look like it was coming to one side then actually dropping back and blitzing from the other side, then they covered the #2 making it look like the #1 was open, and then jump the route.  That was a look that was never seen on film before, they couldn't have anticipated it.  Just a great defensive play.  Sometimes that's what it comes down to.

tucker is awesome and clutch but man i hope his agent does not ask for a new salary that is ridiculous and will hurt us in signing players we need to fill holes next season. his agent will ask that he is the highest paid kicker in the league but i hope tucker is more than fair with what he truly wants.

Brandon Williams is a beast and Carl Davis is coming on....now I like Jernigan, but if he could be traded for a high quality WR (Alshon Jeffries? if he would extend), it might make sense. Our present guys don't get separation, Campanaro can't stay healthy and Perriman isn't coming back any time soon.

The refs were bad enough when they knew the rules. As it is, players certainly don't know from week to week what penalties will be called. Players, fans and refs alike don't know what constitutes a reception anymore, and Head of Officiating Dean Blandino admitted he has no idea what a catch is. The league is "prepping" refs before games and a lot of the calls are so confusing it makes you wonder if they aren't being instructed what to call, when to call it, and who to call it on. When those types of things are predetermined then your sport isn't much different than WWF entertainment.

tresman.... scobee scrubee or scroby doo (lol steven a smith) just save your @$$....

your plays are becoming predictable

camp saved your @$$ with an incredible run on the jet sweep play because i know the steelers were waiting for it

the routes you call are taking to long to develop

need more play action bootlegs

one thing is being conservative and its another being predictable, and your offense tresman is very predictable

im blaming this 0-3 start record on tresman than anything or anyone else...

luckily we ran in to a steeler team without ben because we would have been blown out if he was there...

steelers todd haley didnt adjust to well to mike vick and i think led us to win the game

nice to see some consistent push from the Dline but it still worrys me.

get waller some more reps and flacco put the ball in a better spot where he can go up and get it

i will admit that aiken came to life a little bit in the 2nd half and made some plays. marlon brown in his 3rd season had 2 measly receptions and has basically taken up a roster spot and camponaro will probably be out several weeks because he is built out of napkins. sss is awesome but he is 36 and it has been proven these past 2 games that his body cannot handle a full game of reps. he needs to have breathers during the game which is fine. he was brought here to help stabalize the receiving corps not to be the #1 guy here. the fo needs to try free agents out this week or make a trade for a quality wr.

Great win by the Ravens.

Heroes of the game were both Justins.

Camp injured again? For real? No.... hope he gets better bc we'll need him next week with SSS possibly being out

Daryl Smith (way under appreciated) and Will Hill seemed to have big hits and big games

First time I've seen our team really have that fire and emotion this year- that was awesome and I hope they can carry through

Still think we'll need better corners and wrs to compete with the Broncos, Pats of the world- hopefully, im proven wrong.

Overall, great win, solid effort by all players

the difference between people who know what theyre talking about, and people like you, is that just because a WR isnt blanketed doesnt mean he is open.

i also heard these same moans and groans last week about marlon brown being open, even though he was actually triple covered with no throwing lane and the time it took the ball to travel would almost guarantee one of those 3 defenders intercepts it.

on that sack, and i know which one you are talking about, there was nobody open, i believe it was darren waller who appeared to break open, but when you replay it you see that flacco was already on his way down and the db let up, which is the only reason he even appeared to be open for a second.

The picture of Joe with his chinstrap across his face reminds me of Jim Cary in the movie Liar Liar, when he flies thru the air and lands in the baggage at the airport.

I don't care what it costs to resign Justin Tucker. Pay it! He's our MVP. We cannot lose him. PERIOD! Never was it more evident than last night's game.

And it's not only receptions. On that touchdown run by Leveon Bell when he changed direction from going left to go across  the field around the right side, #44 I believe it was, on the left side of the offensive line grabbed our defender with both arms from behind him and literally pulled him down onto the ground. That was so obviously a holding call that there was just No excuse for missing it and not calling it. These refs leave a lot to be desired. No consistency.

On Joe's interception Marlon was side open down the left side line.  The ball was thrown to the left to SSS in the flats.  The reason Brown was open is that his defender released him and went to sit on the SSS route.  Sure enough like chickens coming home to roost the ball went to SSS and was consequently intercepted.  Why didn't Marlon get the ball?  He was in the same area as SSS. Why wasn't he seen?  There is a lot going on between the QB and WRs and the play calling and all of that needs to be sorted out.  Go to this link.

Is it always Marlon's fault that he only has two "measly" catches?

Lucky win for the Ravens. There were so many times when a victory seemed impossible, let alone probable, but we ended up with a W! That is all that matters and thank you God for giving us Tucker Automatic! Now, it is up to Ozzie and Moriarty to figure out a way to keep him a Raven for life.
