[News] Ravens Defense Shows How To Finish Game

41 posts in this topic

One thing that helped the Ravens win last night (besides the absence of Ben R) was that the team only committed 4 penalties (accepted) and that includes the one on Juice that was a bad call.

I love how the entire defense just bolted to the ball like hungry lions descending on a meal. That was awesome to watch. Mosley and D.Smith was flying all over the place, love it. The defensive line did great in closing the pocket on Vick most times. Finally, loved how we positioned the corners and safeties properly, nothing fancy, this time they held up and did a good job. I saw an all out effort. Well done boys, great job.

Finally, the Defense does it's job. Better late than never. I still think Pees needs to go. Trestman better tighten his game up too, his play calling was horrific. This is a bad year for Joe, just like 2013. Awful pass protection and no WR's. That means Joe has to force throws in order to make plays. Trestman has to adjust and call quick passes and more play action. Even with those flaws were still in games because we're a good team. But we will lose some heartbreaker if we don't adjust. If we can get to 4-4 by the bye well be in good shape. But that means beating Cleveland, San Francisco, and either Arizona or San Diego. I think we can do it.

WHEW! Awful game. No way Ravens should have pulled this one out but considering the "ugly" loses we have suffered, I will take an ugly win and be happy. Thought our rookies, Boyd, Waller and Z.Smith showed ALOT of potential.

Thought the D played well.  Still have issues with the soft coverage at times.  Davis looked like a fantastic addition and Webb played better in spots.  Jimmy had some nice plays but looks off...IDK.  He seems to allow way too much cushion too often.  Think the foot may be bothering him, or something is up.  There were some spots when it looked like we didn't want to get beat deep so we gave a 10 yard cushion and the receivers were just WIDE open.  Passing the ball in 7 to 12 yard increments is just as back breaking as giving up 80 in one shot (see last week's results).  D line is doing well, backers looking pretty good.  Wish Pees was more imaginative with his schemes and play calling.  Guess that's just wishful thinking.

It's the Steelers . . you don't care how you win. But this is exactly true: < Oh and all this Jazz about an ugly win handed to us on a platter... this game woulda been over in regulation with no 100 yard rushing and a td for Bell had the refs not been blind to a blatant holding/block in the back/face mask call which happened right in front of the ball carrier on that rushing TD where Bell reversed field. Kendrick Lewis had the play sniffed out, was in position to make the tackle, and their FB/TE piggybacked on him and tackled him from behind right in front of Laveon Bell. Ravens cans can't be blind to that huge no call when Phil Simms repeatedly pointed it out and Rich Eisen again mentioned it at half time when Michael Irvin and Marshall Faulk were praising Bell for making a play.>

Agreed.  Terrible missed call.  Then again, they missed Doom's facemask on Vick on a sack that ended a drive for Pitt as well.  Missed calls happen.  Drops by Antonio Brown in the end zone happen.  Interceptions and fumbles happen.  Missed FGs happen.  That's football and that's why we love it so much.  I don't care how we won.  We just won.  And now, on to Cleveland.  Let's keep it going, ugly or not!

Agreed, Pees needs to go.  Think the coverage was still way to soft in spots, and the pressure was just way too "vanilla".  Pitt was running overloads and stunts almost every play. Not us.  Glad we pulled out the win thanks to a lot of individual effort on the D's part.  Davis looks like a good addition in the D backfield.  On offense, man...I also agree.  What the heck, man, let's play to our stregnths and figure something out.  Just vanilla on both sides of the ball.  But we won.  And that's all that matters at the moment.

I like Davis too. Looks like a good addition. I think you're right with J.Smith, something may be up and hopefully that something eventually passes as the weeks goes on. A lot of positives to look forward to.

This game almost made my heart stop,so up and down i diidn't know how it would end. At times i thought we are gonna be 0-4 then it seemed like it wouldn't end because Pitt kept gambling and we would do the same. Crazy game but i'm happy we won with all that had happened with losing key players an all we kept fighting never stop fighting. Tucker is the man,i bet next time Harbs will take the pointS and not gamble on 4th down any time soon.

Lets not crank up the band for the defense yet. They finally showed up in one game out of four. This team is still in intensive care.
