[News] Ravens Defense Shows How To Finish Game

41 posts in this topic

If the Ravens make a comeback this season it will be the defense that makes it possible. I'm still kind of disappointed that we let Bell get 100 yards, first time in over 2 years. But the 4th quarter defense was outstanding. Glad Vick was in there instead of Ben. Glad Scobee was in there instead of Suisham. Real glad we have Tucker...he's money, despite his misses against Cincy and Denver.

Ozzie better get busy........................starting with Reggie Wayne. Call SF and see if we can get Torrey and Anquan back. Give them Arthur Brown, Marlon Brown, Dennis Pitta and a couple draft choices.

I thought Aiken proved he is a solid #3 receiver. Smith is a great #1/#2. But now Campanaro is hurt and Brown needs to be cut. Waller made a great catch with the game on the line so maybe he can build on that. I love his potential.

Flacco needs to step up. He almost cost us the game. Two turnovers is usually enough to lose most games the way the Ravens play. He better get his act together.

Despite the bad outcome I loved the fake field goal attempt. They got lucky to stop that play, it looked good for a 20-30 yard gain. That was great coaching, going all out to gain an edge and take control of the game in hostile territory. Harbaugh has balls and shows great faith in his players.

Hope this turns our season around. Beating Cleveland and SF will get us to 3-3 and then we can set our sights higher.

Our defense played better but they also weren't challenged deep. Flacco needs to cut down on his turnovers because he is putting our defense in bad positions. This is the second game where he had waller one on one with a smaller db an he didn't give him a chance to make a jump ball play. Will Davis looks like a baller. Our defense will improve as the season goes on but pees needs to call better games. I also like to see more creativity from trestman as a play caller, sometimes I think cam Cameron is back on the sidelines calling the same boring plays.

That was a good showing by the defense.. nice 4th a short stops to keep us in the game..

still some concerns going forward but hopefully this is the confidence builder that they needed so badly..

another thing.. did Babin get any snaps?.. I can't remember if he did..

No issue with the cushion on Brown, he will beat you deep if you press him to many times, i can live with his production in the game....I just loved how we got back to gang tackling and playing fast on D....

Now if we can only get 10 more teams hand as games with ribbons in a silver platter like last night's game, we have a shot at reaching the playoffs. Playoffs??? I'm talking about Playoffs?? Playoffs...

The D played with heart, but boy, we still have issues. If we play backups all season like last night, we could win the SB. But we 're not. We're playing guys like Brady, Rivers, etc. It's going to be a long season until the FO decides to truly do something about our secondary.

I think Harbs told Pees," I don;t care how young our D is, play like Ravens....and they did, and it showed, they played fearless....

So what if they took our streak of not allowing a 100 rusher? We took Antonio Browns 39 game streak of at least 5 receptions and 50 yds. We had pride in ours, they had pride in theirs. Move on and start again.

Oh and all this Jazz about an ugly win handed to us on a platter... this game woulda been over in regulation with no 100 yard rushing and a td for Bell had the refs not been blind to a blatant holding/block in the back/face mask call which happened right in front of the ball carrier on that rushing TD where Bell reversed field.

Kendrick Lewis had the play sniffed out, was in position to make the tackle, and their FB/TE piggybacked on him and tackled him from behind right in front of Laveon Bell.

Ravens cans can't be blind to that huge no call when Phil Simms repeatedly pointed it out and Rich Eisen again mentioned it at half time when Michael Irvin and Marshall Faulk were praising Bell for making a play.

If you all haven't watched the WIRED segment from the locker room after the game last night I encourage you to see it. Seeing the admiration, love and respect the players and Harbaugh have for Coach Brooks brought a tear to my eye. Let's go!!!

How about Justin going for 150 yards....Now that's how the run game works, KO was in total beast mode last night, and Zuttah had his best game of year....

A win is a win in this league. At the end if we come out on top and we get away healthy, I'll take it! Harbs made some gutsy calls. The fake field goal was a terrific call. Picking up the pace on key drives kept Pitts on their heels. I hope that Flacco never tries another quarterback sneak as long as he is a Raven. I have seen enough of his pathetic attempts to last me a lifetime (6-6, 245lbs & loose yd = ridiculous). But you have to admire Joe's poise in the pocket when it counted most. I love his cannon. When he remembers to set himself properly he's as good as it gets. Flacco would be a top tier QB if he could be at his best consistently, he has all the physical tools. The young guns (WRs) showed some promise. They definitely offer considerable talent to build on. Man it felt good to fine that running game (who let the dogs out?). Boy it made such a difference. Justin is M O N E Y. Kudos to the D. The D line and linebackers were superb, Mr. Hill played brilliantly. But the DBs are not ready for NFL caliber receivers. O line showed flashes of dominance but Joe has to do a better job of reading blitzes and line overloads. Mike Mitchell please remember karma is not necessarily a good or bad thing you just reap what you sow. Get well Steve and the rest. Let's keep this this winning streak going. Go Ravens!

It's the Steelers . . you don't care how you win. But this is exactly true:

The Defense did what they had to to get the win. 4 Sacks on an Elusive QB were huge. Zadarius Smith could be the spark we need up Front. I give these guys alot of credit, they hung in there and got us the win. Most of all, They didn't allow Joe's turnovers to cost us the game. And, we didn't have silly penalties which is a great sign. Smith was a big pick up too, nice to see him contribute. Keep the momentum moving forward.

Will Davis

"Dolphins traded up to select Utah State CB Will Davis with the No. 93 overall pick, sending pick Nos. 109, 146 and 224 to Green Bay.

Davis (5-foot-11 1/4, 186) ranked second nationally in pass breakups (17) as a senior, picking off five and recording 4.5 tackles for loss. He ran 4.53 at the Combine with an explosive 10-foot-7 broad jump, also repping 226 pounds 16 times. Davis is small with short arms (31 1/2"), so he may be best suited to nickel back once he fully develops. The Fins are dangerously needy at cornerback, so they're doubling down with Davis after drafting Jamar Taylor."

We need this guy to really step up.

J.Smith, B.Williams and C.J.Mosley are all really good players but Will Hill is the best player on our defense and you know what they say "Where theres a Will Hill theres a way" or something like that... GO RAVENS

Yes but at the expense of pass pro. It was not good. Perhaps we can put it all together for the next game.

I could be wrong but it look like a few of those runs were from Gary Kubiak zone running offense(which worked great last year)

Will Davis look good. Could we have a new Cory Graham?

I hope so.  I loved Corey Graham.  I hated that he wanted to go home to Buffalo.
