[News] The Breakdown: Eisenberg's Five Thoughts At Steelers

69 posts in this topic

Every time Campanaro gets some playing time, he shows big playmaking ability and makes plays. It's a shame he keeps getting injured, but when he's available, there's no excuse for Trestman to keep him on the sidelines. He has shown the burst and acceleration to get separation and make plays with the ball in his hands. I just don't get why he hasn't seen more playing time this year, especially with our other receivers struggling so much to get separation.

I like what I've seen from the new corner will Davis. I'm not sure what harbaugh was thinking on that fake fg, we should've takin the three points. Campanaro should be our slot wr for the rest of the yr, not sure why he isn't playing all the time. It would be nice to see waller get more playing time. I still think we need to add a wr.

I am so glad the Ravens won! It was gratifying to hear the silence in Heinz Stadium after Tucker kicked that final field goal. However, and I sincerely hope I'm wrong about this, but let's face it--the Ravens are in trouble. This was a game in which Tomlin made bad decisions and in which several Steeler drives failed because of mistakes or badly thrown passes by Michael Vick. If Roethlisberger had been the QB--and he will be the next time the two teams play--the game would have never made it to overtime. Bottom line: The Ravens will have to play better than they are right now to finish 8-8.

True, but if we weren't without our top 2 or 3 receivers, and our top 2 TEs, we probably could have won that game convincingly before OT. We were just as short handed as they were.

THAT was a good game to watch! Both our rookie TEs looked very good, making catches in traffic when we needed them to. Campanaro also looks terrific and seems to make good decisions so I want to see more of him. He didn't get seriously injured, did he? Just bashed up I hope. Jimmy Smith was clutch, both in passing and in run plays and Webb looked good too, despite the touchdown. He looked like Spider Man there :D Seems being called Buck goes a long way - especially in the first half I saw Daryl Smith all over the place at the right time and with key tackles and Buck Allen giving a piggy back ride for a couple of yards was really neat! Key standout for me though was Za'Darius Smith with his two sacks and fantastic speed, where he can keep up with Vick and at one point managed to get Le'Veon Bell down where I thought he was already in the open and likely to score - after all, he is a speedster. But ZSmith was there. Damn, I am happy today!

I think it's exactly his propensity for injuries that keeps him off the field for a lot of the time. Otherwise it's hard to explain, because when he lines up inside the white lines he looks like a highlight reel. He's smart, making good decisions, he has good hands and he's tough to bring down. What is the status on him now that he walked off field late in the game?

Bell did not easily snap the 100 yard rusher streak. He needed OT to get it done. So, add the words "in regulation" and, the streak is still alive.

I would love to wake up in the morning and see Ravens traded undisclosed draft pick to the Chicago Bears for Ashon Jeffery.. We really need someone to take the heat off Flacco and stretch the field..

Being injury prone is no excuse for not using Campanaro more. After all, we put him out there to return punts. He should be on the field with Smith, Sr. as often as possible. I know that gives us two under-sized receivers on the field but those two have the most "want to." Design plays specifically for him. We all know he is not fast but he has incredible burst and football IQ.

5 thoughts: 1. We did our best to make a back up QB on a short week of prep... look like a HOF QB. at one point he was 11 of 13 and we couldnt stop the pass (once again). We started to finally bring pressure and recorded 3 sacks in a row. Next series...we brought pressure and forced a 3 and out and then we stopped bringing pressure. I still dont get it? Just when I though that Pees was figuring it out -he reverts to his passive ways? 2. I am glad that we got "no names" involved. These draft picks (Boyle, WIlliams, etc) are not no names they are solid draft picks that just need more opportunity and I am glad they showed that they are capable when given the chance. 3. Forsett picked the right night to regain form. I really think if we can keep the run game going... we will be much harder to stop moving forward. 4. Still think a JBabin will help bring a nastiness to the team that we need to promote. We are athletic and we play hard but dont see to have that nastiness that we have become known for in the past. 5. With SSS and Camp injured (and I dont know the extent) and Perriman having surgery yesterday... we are going to need to bring in a WR... Joe needs more help then what he had lastnight! (Bonus... Monroe needs to get his butt back on the field)!

Bottom line, we won. Positives were getting the run game going and finally seeing Aiken get some catches. But the same weaknesses showed as in our losses. I can't call the pass defense a positive (except for Davis) since Vick is dogmeat. We have to make a couple trades. I know it is not our M. O. but we need a legit #1 WR. I can't see SSS carrying us for a long season and the injuries are mounting. I would love to get Jeffery and what ever happened to the converted CB that ran good routes, got open and caught everything in preseason garbage time (can't remember his name)? But again, we won!

1. I wouldn't be asking to get guys that didn't play at all back, because the Steelers can ask for them same thing. Two completely healthy teams = we probably lose that game by a couple of TDs.

2. Losing Steve and Campanaro mid-game hurt, but its not like our passing game was dominating anyway.

RavensBaltimore.... They whine if they had Ben.... we were without SUggs, SSS (for part of the game), Perriman, Gilmore, Camp, Monroe, Canty, heck Pitta, Urban etc... nobody hears us whinning! Just like last season in the playoffs when we beat them. THey all cried if they had LBell... We lost Ray Rice and Jimmy Smith and we still beat them. Typical sqeelers looking for excuses!

The Ravens don't win pretty, but at least this time, they won, when they needed it desperately. I just hope Steve Smith and Campanaro aren't out for the next game due to their injuries. otherwise, it'll be sooo tough.

Camp is a great player except he got knocked out of the game again last night and was getting MRI's and X-Rays after the game. He will probably miss another 2 or 3 games. I love him but can we afford to have a roster spot for a guy that does great in one game but misses 3. I am absolutely torn about what I think about Camp and his durability.

We need to stop worrying about what ifs. The bottom line is we have a lot of holes because of injuries and we need to try to fill them. If we continue with just who we have, our season is looking grim, especially with SSS and camp injuries. We got Babin, who I hope helps the pass rush and Davis, who looks like a stud nickel. Just gotta continue adding, especially at WR and possibly Oline.

Heart attack time folks. Don't know if I can do this for another 12 games lol!!

Lol, I'd like to have one wrapped up in the 3rd quarter for once.

The four throw and out at the end of the fourth quarter when Aiken had the ball Jarred loose, they should have called thessafety for hit to a defenseless receiver. If you go back and look he hit Aiken in the head with his shoulder and Aiken looked possibly concussed. That was a serious problem on that blown call. Yes that wrestling tackle from behind by the neck on the Bell not called was terrible and should have never allowed the TD but Aiken had the ball and both the ref and the concussion spotter missed that one. That is unacceptable.

In the National Football League, I'm just not so sure that's possible....  Unless you're putting up a 50-burger on a team.  then how does that feel...  ehhhh...  I like the squeakers a little better.  Games like last night???  That's Ravens Football.  You know, we never do it the easy way.
