I don't think the Browns game is a gimme at all.  We are gonna have to earn it.  They played San Diego very tough. They stopped their run.

We better be prepared to be challenged and overcome.

I really hope we can get the lead on them. I don't want their defense feeding off being ahead. I agree with someone I quoted, that you can't draft as highly as they have drafted over the years and not begin to acquire a team that can really play.

We have to take it to them, like they are Pittsburgh.  We can't afford a soft effort. We need to build on our successes vs Pittsburgh and not commit more turnovers than they do.

yeah, I know.  But watching them yesterday, they looked like a team different than any brownies team that I've seen.

We sure could use Jamal about right now!   lol

Yeah the Browns are like the Bengals. You can't continue to add top talent through the draft and not be good enough to win games. At some point those guys will put it all together. I've liked what I've seen from the Browns for a few years now. They just need a solid QB. Josh Gordon was a potential stud and they built a classic AFC North defense. Their management sucks tho. I definitely down expect them to lay down. I think it'll be a game similar this past game vs the Steelers more then the Bengals divisional game. Probably more a game that features the run game heavily for both sides and lots of FGs.

well, i hate to sound like sami here, but i dont know if we win sunday...

i gotta say im not feeling good about our chances. i think the browns are gonna take a early lead on us and we play catch up all day and shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties, bad playcalling, and trying to force plays because our secondary will be giving up 10 play drives like its nothing.

You need to snap out of that funk you're in. Browns are crap. They played a close one vs SD who don't look anything like last year's team. We got this one, convincingly.

I have no confidence in us beating the Browns after seeing how they played against the Chargers. Our run game needs to show up if we wanna win. I'm hoping for a big game from Aiken and Forsett.

We would have lost to the Steelers if they had a decent kicker and that's with Forsett rushing for 150 yards.

Forsett 125 yards, Aiken 87 yards, Joe sacked 1 time.

Just don't turn the ball over the ravens would be 3-1 4-0 without turnovers. And maybe they will use williams and split him wide he could be a tough matchup for a safety especially if gillmore plays.

In the most serious way I can possible ask the question, how in the hell do you see us scoring 35 points?

11fgs by Justin Tucker and a safety

Forsett will score twice. Tali scores once. Gilmore once. Juice once.

Tucker kicks a few field goals. Heck we may even get a pick 6 from will hill or Davis.

47-17

was really just talkin stuff -but is 47 points really that inconceivable? Against the 31st rushing defense ? Against the Browns ? No we haven't been playing our best but eventually were gonna catch fire and that Pitt game mighta been just what we needed to bolster the confidence.

I think what's laughable is half the board jumping ship and losing complete faith in their team 4 games in. Since when is beating the Browns and putting up 40+ Laughable? Is it that unrealistic? I certainly don't think so but hey.

This is the Ravens we're talking about.

I think we can definitely win, but any turnovers and that will be that. We need a run heavy game plan, utilize the TEs and just a handful of plays from our WR corps....whoever is out there. Despite us dominating them in the W/L stats the scores are usually one score difference and a few times came down to stopping them on the last play. If the Ravens sleepwalk they will be in serious trouble.

Im so excited for this game. I know i sound crazy but I'm serious. I'm the type of person that when others see doom and gloom i see tremendous opportunity and that's exactly what i see with this game for the Ravens. Being uncomfortable is the best way to stretch your potential and grow. Both Flacco and Trestman have been getting away with riding SSR hard and other guys have suffered in their development in this offense. Now I'm not saying they have been wrong for featuring SSR, not not having him will force Trestman and Joe to sharpen up and really start to callbplays designed to get these young guys involved more.

The oline simplified the ZBS against the Steelers and it worked great. Let's see if it's a permanent adjustment. I'd expect the Brown to attack this oline until Flacco shows he can move the ball in the passing game. Because of that i expect Trestman to come out and run a uptempo spread offense and focus on attacking with the TEs.

On defense i love the energy the defense played with and even though Bell rushed for a lot of yards, i'd definitely be happy with the same type of performance vs the Brown. What concerns me about the team so far this year is that the offense hasn't gotten a half time lead yet. With the way the defense seems to be operating they need to be able to play with a lead and make a couple key stops per game. They aren't gonna shut offenses down like defenses of old. But I'd love to see them play with an early lead. In every game thus far the defense have made key stops but it just wasn't enough in the first 3 games.

I think the Ravens have a huge opportunity this week. If they can play well in this game, it may allow SSR to rest another week against a poor 49ers team and come back against AZ. But the team has to play well enough to instill that confidence in the coaches not to rush SSR back. Play well at home and then go out west with opportunity to get above 500 coming back home before the bye. But obviously it's one game at a time and this game should be seen as a huge opportunity by the players.

Nah, if you don't have any semblance of balance, it's not going to end well. Of course we should run a lot vs their bad run defense but we'll use our WRs as well. Aiken will do better than lot of people think.

Hence the handful of plays by WRs. If they waste snaps on the inevitable drops and missed throws they will be in just as much trouble.

Handful vs heavy run does not strike me as too balanced.

the browns are not as bad as you seem to think they are. and i havent jumped ship, i just find it very hard to have faith in this team when our roster seems to regress every week with one major injury after another. that win against pittsburgh was not encouraging in the slightest. michael vick with no speed is essentially useless, so we faced a team with a god awful defense, a backup qb, missing their biggest defensive playmaker, and a 3rd string kicker, and we only won because said 3rd string kicker missed 2 field goals, and in the process we managed to look far worse than the team we beat and lost what seemed to be the only 2 productive receivers we had.

i also havent exactly gained faith in our run game, as abysmal as they had been so far im not prepared to expect dominance because of 1 good showing.

its not jumping ship and being fairweather, its being realistic, this team just doesnt have the horses right now. it has the core, it has the foundation, it will be a contender again and very shortly, but right now we just arent there.

The point is the WRs aren't going to get it done. Everyone keeps holding their breath for Aiken to do something. He's scored one TD with tons of opportunity to do more. Keep waiting I guess. A handful of plays from the WRs will suffice. They need to go run heavy.

Honestly I don't know  :P just a random prediction. Let's say Forsett goes off, and the defense gets a lot of turnovers... I hope.

Why do you keep refering to SSS as SSR? Retired?

Gilmore and Canty are said to have similar injuries. Concerns me since Canty has been out for a while. Hopefully Gilmore youth abd toughness helps his recovery.

Yes, its that inconceivable. You're going to need probably at least two defensive TDs to get to that point, and our defense isn't playing well enough to bank on that.

Here's some interesting information for those who laughably still think the Browns are terrible:

1. Ravens haven't scored more than 40 against the Browns since 2000.

2. Ravens haven't scored more than 30 against the Browns since 2009 (11 straight meetings under 30 points).

3. In the last 10 meetings, while the Ravens have won 9 of those 10, the Ravens averaged just 21.1 PPG. Cleveland has averaged 14.3 PPG during those games.

Possible we score 47? I guess. Realistic? God no.

What's laughable to me is people acting like its a foregone conclusion the offense is going to "catch fire" or explode. I've always been more of a "show me" kind of guy. You want me to project you to score 40+? Cool, how about you actually do it at least once before I start pulling guesses out of thin air.

I expect this game to look very similar to the Bengals/Steelers games, both in points scored and in the overall struggle on both sides of the ball.

Our boy Za'Darius Smith is up for Pepsi Rookie of the Week!

And Justin Tucker for Comeback Player of the Week.

Justin Forsett is up for player of the week as well!

Nice to see some Ravens players on that list.

Me too, 2 Sacks is a great start as a McPhee replacement, hopefully he can build on that.

Most definitely. Carl Davis and Za'darius Smith will surely be a key piece for this defense. I like the work of what we did in the draft, I think it'll show a couple seasons from now.

Davis, ZDS, BW, Jernigan, and Mosley. Our front 7 has some nice young pieces to build upon.

I don't think the Browns are that bad, I'm well aware that this will be no gimme. I just think that this Ravens team will finally start clicking this week on BOTH sides of the ball. I think SSS being out could be a blessing in disguise- it will allow us to open things up and spread the ball around a lot more. 3 or 4 of joes interceptions have all came when he was basically trying to force feed the ball to Steve. I think the tight ends will see a lot of action. The running game finally got going last week and I think it will carry into this week. Obviously the Browns are dead last in run defense and we will capitalize on that. We will ground and pound, control the clock. And on top of that, if givins is active it will give us the deep threat that we have been missing so far this season. They will at least have to respect it if we take a shot or 2, which will in turn open things up even more for the run game. On top of that, the game is at home. The defense played well last week, granted it was against Vick, but I think that victory gave us some much needed confidence. I also think your underestimating the steelers defense. Thy aren't as bad as many seem to think.. Their d line is pretty stout, and we still had success. I think we will run all over the Browns all day long. Sooner or later were gonna have one of those distinctive victories where we do well in all 3 phases and just punish our opponent. I just happen to think it will be this week @ home vs the Browns. I could easily be dead wrong, But In my opinion I don't see why it's so far out of the realm of possibilities.

Possible we score 47? I guess. Realistic? God no.

first time for everything isn't it? Eventually were gonna have one of those games that we do well in all 3 phases and dominate. I just happen to think it will be this one. I'm not the kind of guy who waits for something to be obvious, I actually call it before it happens. Anybody can notice a trend and jump on the bandwagon and say yep this will happen again because it happened this way on this this and this day. In not just pulling a prediction out of thin air, there's several reasons behind it. Our running game just came off a strong performance, and we're going up against the run defense that's ranked dead last. Those are the details I pay attention to. History also shows that when we run the ball well it opens up the passing game and also keeps the defense fresh.

I'm not gonna wait until we play well and then call it , I'm gonna call it beforehand. we are getting better and eventually were gonna put it all together on both sides of the ball. I happen to think that time is now, and to me that is not that inconceivable. We may not score 40 some points but I could definitely see us dominate both sides of the ball and play very well. The Pittsburgh victory won't pretty but you'd be surprised how much one game can improve a teams confidence.
