So I guess it was true that The Ravens were running more man  than zone  before.

I'm not sure if we were running more man than zone, but we were definitely running more man than last season.

If there was a silver lining the past 4 weeks it would definitely be our young tight ends. We can create some serious mismatches with Boyle and Gillmore if used properly. I say we go back to the ground game next week and use those tight ends play smart ball no turnovers 2-3.

A boy version? How about a half pint punk version. Well Ben is a bit of a punk too so....but Manzeil is what, 3 feet tall. He should be a jockey not a QB.

Hate Manziel because he's a druggie punk not because he's short. Ed Reed was 5'10, Steve Smith is 5'10. Forsett is probably 5'6

I agree and it makes absolutely no sense at all.

He wasnt being compared to Reed, Smith or an RB he was being compared to a QB, Pig Ben. Much as I dislike Ben, he is well over 6 foot and has to have 50 pounds on Manzeil. And he is tough as rusty nails, and has some serious skill at the position. Manzeil isn't good enough to be a has been. Besides, Manzeil just plays small.

Should be a comfortable win, I see us at 3-3 after beating CLE/SF setting up a MNF clash with Arizona.

Season turn around...ENGAGED

I was thinking that, until this latest round of terrible news on the injury front.

I'm not sure I will be expecting many comfortable wins ... too many challenges and some of these "bad" teams aren't necessarily patsies. I think more ugliness (in both wins and losses) is to be expected.

the raiders arent a dud team.

i would almost put money on it that the raiders finish with a better record than us.

I think the fact that the Bengals dismantled them gave people the sense that we should do the same.

Not sure I'd make that bet, but agree the Raiders aren't really a pushover.

I thought the Pittsburgh game would be a comfortable win too...it might have been the most uncomfortable Win I've ever watched lol

After the 4and out at the 2 minute warning in the 4th qtr I went to sleep..found out we won the next morning haha

It perplexes me that the NFL/TV stations haven't caught on to the fact that they should play all of our division rivals games when we're playing at a different time.  I would watch all of them.

Up to the actual networks (CBS mostly). They have one "game of the week" that most national markets show, so generally you would see that one if you're hometown team isn't playing in that window.

Its difficult in the Baltimore area, because I'm sure you get Redskins games guaranteed there weekly as well. So you'll only really get to see one game at one of the time slots on one of the networks. Given that either Vikings/Broncos or more likely Packers/49ers are the big games in the late window, you won't get a 1pm CBS game, and there's only one 4pm CBS game, which is the Browns.

Generally I don't really care what games the networks show. I'm not interested in watching a Browns/Raiders game just because they are a division team. I'd rather watch a better game, such as like Jets/Patriots or something similar.

Yep - I did sort of the same thing. I didn't realize they'd put time back on the clock and I also thought we'd only had 1 TO (I'm thinking now we had 2 ... I thought we blew a challenge - but forgot that on a TO it is an official review and not a challenge).

So, I had a few things to do before turning in, so I cut off the TV went about those tasks. I popped on the computer and saw the game was in OT, so I stopped what I was doing and caught the game from the point where we stopped the Vick rushing attempt on 4th down.

That was the first time in forever that I thought a game was officially over when it was not. Lesson (re)learned.

You know....win this game and you're 2-3....We were 2-3 during our 2008 season when we went to the AFC title game. I don't blame you if you're not optimistic tho, we actually had a defense that year.

in regards to wagners decline, theres another raven who seems to be declining, jimmy smith.

both had the lisfranc surgery. its no coincidence, that tends to be a tough surgery to recover from, it has to be really hard on wagner being such a massive man

I did the same thing.  After the incompletion, I turned off the TV and went to bed all pissed off.  Woke up to text messages from some friends who are Pittsburgh fans telling me the Ravens are lucky to have Tucker...

They had an offense too. Sure, they only excelled at running the ball, but they did have something offensively that they could count on.This team doesn't.

It's pretty hard to think of anything this team does consistently well (besides kicking). They obviously aren't strong in the passing game offensively or defensively. I would have said they're good at defending the run, but, naturally, Bell gave me pause on that.

However, the fact that they have managed to hang in every game despite, arguably, not being good at anything makes it seem possible that if they just tweak a few things they could really do something special.

On the other hand, if they struggled mightily before, what are things going to look like with a bunch of scrubs starting on offense? And if Jimmy Smith and Webb are inconsistent, what will it be like if those two injury-prone starters continue to the story of their careers (ie, go down yet again) and the Ravens are stuck with starting Arrington and ... someone?

Not only did we start 2-3 that season but we also lost 3 straight.  This is going to sound funny but we actually have a better passing attack right now than the 08 season (mainly because of starting a division 3 rookie QB to be fair.  If they continue zone blocking and not having them man up, we'll likely have a better run game also.  The defense won't be close to 2008 unfortunately.

This years defense doesn't even touch 2008.

Understandable, frustration kicks in sometimes. At least you were pleasantly surprised the next morning.

I think we continue to get our stuff together agains Cleveland.

That said this team seems to always play us well. Very well. I know the past two or three at least have been nail biters.

Ravens by 6.

He deserves a lot of criticism, but how he handles an offense in crunch time is not one of them. He still doesn't have freedom to call his own plays in this offense, and he is staring at a slow coaching staff most of those times you are referring to. I think there are far more things for him to work on and us to worry about than his two-minute drill, where he has excelled throughout his career. I agree this wasn't his best game for that, but I wouldn't be too worried about that, yet.

Flacco has complete freedom in this offense at the LOS. He often checks out of called runs and has the ability to change the play based on the defense he sees. It may not be as over the top as guys like Peyton and Brees but he's allowed to do a lot with this offense.

Now his comfort level with the offense and weapons around him is a different story but Trestman runs the offense through Flacco and allows Flacco to run the offense.

All that is fine, but he still waits for a call to come in from the sidelines before he lines everyone up, which is what we were discussing.

Even when calls come from the sidelines in 2 min or tempo Flacco is given more then one play and has the freedom to quickly get the offense to the line and run another if he chooses. He isn't handcuffed any more then any other QB not named Manning in that situation.

Again in my humble opinion it comes back to a comfort level. Going up tempo and calling plays at the line usually requires the entire offense to be on the same page and right now everyone isn't there. Huddling, even if it's quick, allows everyone to get on page assignment wise.
