It's hard for any offense to be 50/50 balanced. Typically the better offenses in terms of balance operate around 60/40. That's where the Ravens are right now during the first half of games. The problem is the Ravens have had double digit holes to dig out of, Flacco is passing much in up tempo situations in the 2nd half.

I think we can do 50/50.  If you look closely the past 2 games, the way Forsett runs yac, he has the different style.  I don't exactly know how to explain it, but you have to look at the replays.   I think 50/50 is doable.  It would help Joe stay more confident and our oline look better if we can keep the defense off joe.

What's your definition of a lot? Trestman has called at least 3-4 screen passes in every game, not including the Broncos game. I can only remember 1 screen to Juice in that game. Most of the screens have gone to TEs and WRs though.

At least one went to Aiken for -1 yard

Just terrible execution by Wagner. He was feeling his foot in that game because he was so late to get out into space. The block that was supposed to be never got there.

I expected forsett to be used more in the passing game before the injuries, now he definitely should be as trestman is known to have rbs catch a lot of passes. He caught 0 last week but I don't think that happens too often from here on out, the three weeks prior he caught 4 a game. I think he ends up getting more passes and ends up with about 70 receptions

I typically get on here and post my thoughts earlier as to the matchup but being on the road for work all week + family in town visiting has limited my time online.

Hope for a great game, no injuries for either team and good freaking god even if the Browns lose can their defense try to show up for a game? They have been pitiful so far this season.

It's weird, through the years of watching I think we do the least amount of screen plays in the league. We like doing 3 yard routes on 3rd and 15 instead.

That always gets me. Third and "X" they need 7 yards and throw a 6 yard pass. They need 6 and throw a 4. Why bother? Fourth and 3 or 4th and 10 is still a punt and loss of the ball.

On the flip side, when we are third and 2 and we throw a bomb 35 yards down the field for an incomplete pass and I want to bust my TV screen. How many times has that happened this season.....too many for me!

It'll be interesting to see how many people around here would give Brown props for having a big game tomorrow and how many would just write it off as him only having success because the Ravens forced him the ball against a banged up Browns team.

I think most offenses would love to see a 50/50 balance to keep defenses off balance. However when you rarely see it because of 2min offense and up tempo offense which is needed in today's NFL. Typically the balance comes with a lead. If the Ravens can get up on teams then they'll be able to run the ball more to close out games. But it's highly doubtful you'll see them balanced in terms of numbers consistently.

Many speak about how balanced the Ravens were under Kubiak but in most games they passed to a ratio of 2:1 over the first 3 quarters and run 2:1 in the 4th quarter with Flacco only attempting 2-5 passes with a lead.

I forgot that one. The offense is getting better and better at blocking and executing the screen. They had a huge one set up for Boyle against the Steelers but it was just off by a split second or two.

I guess I just expected to see more "traditional" screens to the RBs forsett and buck. Like you said pretty much all of them have went to the tight ends and receivers. I was under the impression that catching passes was one of bucks strengths, and with forsetts shiftiness I don't understand why we wouldn't utllize it. trestman says every game has its own storyline and we've been playing from behind quite a bit which I understand but I still think it would help get some drives going. Honestly I tend to hate when we run screens. I truly believe we are the worst in the league at executing them and have been for some time lol

That is true too. It is very frustrating. Do the coaches not realize that on third down the ONLY thing you want to do is make that conversion?

I agree they've been bad but I don't think they've focused on the screens as much as a offense in years past. You gotta practice and get timing on screens no different then any other plays. I think they are focused on that area of the offense this year. That TE screen where the 2 WRs block and the TE runs an simply out has been really successful this year and it puts a lot of stress on defenses. I definitely thought Camp was gonna start seeing more screens so we'll see if Givens and or Ross get those opportunities.

Not the coaches it's Flacco's call to take those shots instead of the high percentage plays. Maybe not in years past but he has control of Trestman's offense.

For example Aiken's TD, he wasn't the first read on that play originally. However Flacco read press coverage and favored that matchup. Typically when you see the Ravens take shots on 3rd downs it's because Flacco favors the matchup and the coaches trust his decision making

@Ravens: Today's Inactives vs. Browns:

WR Perriman

RB Taliaferro

CB Melvin

G/C Jensen

TE Gillmore

WR Smith Sr.

DE Canty

#CLEvsBAL

Was Taliaferro benched over Allen. Could have sworn he was a full at practice.

Yeah, I find the fact that Taliaferro is inactive shocking. He was full in practice and was listed as probable. If we're going to run the ball the way we all think we're going to run the ball, I thought we'd want all 3 active today.

10 days rest means we probably get back

Monroe(thank god)

SSR(thank god)

Crockett(thank god)

Babin should be more up to speed

When the going gets tough where he does not have the upper hand you can expect Monroe to tap out again. This is his M.O. He got his money so why should he care.  If you want to argue just look at his past here.
