The um Good, Bad and really Bad vs Steelers--vent away, vent away all

594 posts in this topic

Good = Will Davis, Will Hill, Jimmy Smith, Brandon Williams, Aiken, Flacco's key throw to Aiken to put the Ravens near FG range, O-line's run blocking, Harbs' time management towards the very end

Bad = Marlon Brown, O-line's pass blocking

Ugly = Flacco's knee fumble, no push on short yardage situations, spotty offensive playcalling, Ravens giving me heartburn

Flacco won.........but it wasn't his best day by far.

I gotta tell you, I don't think he sees the rush...........nor reads a defense especially well..........I like him, but we have to run the ball for him to be effective. .......hes nowhere near the best that lead their teams by taking the team upon their own shoulders.

In his defense, Joe was getting pressured every pass play or sacked . We don't have any speed at receiver so there is nobody getting open .

Most important improvement I thought was the run blocking which has been non existent in the first three games. And I'm glad we have Harbaugh and not Tomlin as our coach. I'm sure some will second guess the fake field goal but I'm glad we have an aggressive coach that coaches to win. Campanaro I wonder if he would have solidified a starter role on that drive he went down yet again. I'm not sure why Webb is continually brought up to be cut replaced etc... He's not the playmaker he once was but he really hasn't played too badly in any game and has been far from our biggest liability.

I'll take a W.

I'm sending Tomlin a bushel of Crabs caught in the Inner Harbor thanking him for the win !!

Should send it to Scobee lol

True, but there's always room for improvement, we still gotta ways to go. This was the 1st step in any possibility of a come back and sometimes you need a little luck to get the ball rolling.

Also sometimes wins over Pit are beautiful, graceful and impressive like that one opening game in 2011. :D

ha, indeed, I still reminisce over that beat down ...my point was, we have looked worse and won against them when both teams were nearly at full strength... and didn't we go on to win a SB last time we lost to their backup qb? Ironically, that score was 23-20 as well

I'm mad for some reason at Marshal Faulk for saying that Forsett and the oline won the game. He also said Flacco sucked.

How about the 5 sacks?

Fun fact, this is the first game so far that we never led in the second half. We found our secret to success!

Flacco still has to deal with horrid tackle. , and our already Terrible WR corp getting injured.

Joe held onto the ball when nobody was open and he took those hits when he didn't need to. He was trying to make a play.

Can't see the haters

5 sacks for 21 yds and pressures on a lot of plays. No, they were not amazing.

Almost all coverage sacks. Good ~4s pocket until the linemen couldn't hold on for much longer. Terrible route running and/or play design basically all night. Run blocking was outstanding - huge holes for Forsett and crew

The only way this team could win a game is by playing against a backup and the worst kicker in the league. Meh. We don't win this game 9 times out of 10.

With the two worst tackles in the league, wide recievers named Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown, and some guy named Waller, without Crocket Gillmore (oh and BTW without a Dennis Pitta), another TE named Boyle I never heard of........IN PITTSBURGH.......should I go on?

Stop acting like we rolled into Pittsburgh with the 2012 Ravens and just laid down.  I'm getting tired of reading posts like this.   We're fielding almost a complete practice squad offense outside of Flacco and Forsett, and despite 2 turnovers (one because everyone in the world knows Flacco can only really trust Smith) that offense STILL put the team in winning position when it mattered.

I'm not at all complaining about this win.   They did what they had to do.   Flacco overcame his struggles and forced these young receivers to step up and make some needed clutch catches; isn't that what great QB's are supposed to do?   And unlike the Steelers, the Ravens weren't scared to put Tucker on the field on crappy turf to win the game.

Take the win.

@richeisen: If you played fantasy against Antonio Brown tonight, it was your lucky day. His NFL record streak of 5+ rec/50+ yard rec games snapped at 35

Know Codizzle is gonna love that one

What did he say? I'll have to see tomorrow morning

Essentially "I screwed up with my turnovers, Justin Tucker is the best kicker in the league, mad props to the defense for keeping us in the game." Blamed himself, gave credit.

Two years ago we couldn't block for the run or the pass. Last year we dominated at both. This year we seem to only handle one well each game.

I said that maybe it was a good thing we didn't lead since we couldn't blow the lead. Lol.

Kendrick Lewis still isn't good btw and I'm starting to really sour on Upshaw.

I think Webb influenced Jimmy too much

Heck of a lot more class than Jimmy's "What could you have done to win the game?" Jimmy: "Scored more points". After Denver. He's lucky Joe & SSS have more class than to call his butt out Week 2 and Week3.

We don't have any speed at receiver so there is nobody getting open .

Or anyone that can run decent routes outside of SSS. Mason was slow as dirt, but he was money on those come back routes.

On the flip side, every wide out that plays against this Ravens D seems to be wide open...

Man you seem to be on a mission lol

Bad game for him. Once again not much help and a tough environment but made a few great throws

Still, Flacco used the word "probably" before describing Tuck as the best kicker in the league. As the folks on ESPN would say, "C'mon, man!"
