[News] Report: Breshad Perriman Out Indefinitely After Knee Surgery

159 posts in this topic

treversteadman.... the main point is that the running game is non existent because the opponents are stacking the box with 8. And the reason they can get away with it is because the R's have NO WR's that require double coverage. None! They definitely do need a stretch the field receiver although it should be done in the draft and not give away any draft picks. No matter the passing yards stat the fact remains they're 0-3.

I think if Waller was given half a chance it would help this whole Perriman disaster out. Marlon Brown and Aiken are not the answer, it's so freaking clear. Start Campanaro opposite Steve Smith and Waller as your 3rd WR. There, I just fixed the WR corps. It's really that simple. Perriman is no bust, the book is yet to be written and even though the introduction has sucked I believe we have a few good chapters forthcoming. Besides all that, Go Ravens !!!

I said it last month that he is a bust, he has a knee injury and I am sure they knew that while drsfting him. drafted him anyways and still didn't play. we could of drafted sooo many players such as the wr that green bar has. and maybe we should get Daniel brown or even butler if he is available and use waller I mean he is 6'6 put his big a** to work.

Had arthroscopic on my knee back when I was in my mid twenties. Small tear. Out for abouts 2 months. Never had a problem since.

Hmmmmmm. We've all had arthroscopic and make it to the diner table and work just fine. Then again running a 4.2 40, catching pro passes, blocking at the pro level, breaking away from the line, etc. is something else again. Perriman has a up hill battle  to say the least. Tough break....we all hope he makes it.

Not surprised. Another waste of money and YES, Perriman is a bust! You go out on a limb to get a 1st rounder and he never see's the field, that's a bust. Injury or not, he's not on the field and can't produce, that's a bust. Next year is next year.

I also agree with another poster about Canty. I would guess he's thinking it's a good time in his career to relax and get a paycheck then go home.

For me, it's not that we're losing, it's HOW we're going about it. We've shot ourselves in the foot too many times over the last couple seasons and it is going to haunt us in dead money for years! Just think who will be on our team next year with Yanda getting up there in age as well as a few others and it's a bit sad to think who will be left.

I think the thing that ticks me off the most about all of this is, every other team that is doing well, can attribute at least some of it to us and who they stole from us in coaches. We train them and they drain them! Well we fixed that and the joke is on them this year! We don't have anyone, anyone wants! HA!

I feel so bad for this kid. I am quite sure he didn't get hurt on purpose. I am also sure that the Ravens did not have a crystal ball during the draft to forsee the future of this injury. We'll just have to do the best we can. One game at a time. Go Ravens.

the kid is not a bust yet well we are in the same boat as the Bears with Kevin White he doesn't to play this year either I wish they would've did surgery sooner that's all its nothing we can do this year but perhaps Ozzie and the crew will get a mid-level WR in free agency and draft a one too because so far Aiken and Brown are not holding there own and Campy is a slot WR like Smitty good luck Flacco

i feel for breshad he clearly wanted to contribute and play. a silver lining is he is going to know the playbook when he eventually does get back on the field. with his age and athleticism i'm bummed he wont play but hes certainly not a bust

It's pretty [crap]ty a 1st round pick goes down on day one of camp.... Fast forward two months later, and that rookie is STILL hurt... And NOW, need surgery. What a freaking joke... Likely could have gotten surgery day one of the injury and had been back intime for week one.... Nope, surgery after the first month of the season and likely out for the remainder of the year...It pisses me off that we've wasted a roster spot this season for a rookie WR with a gimp knee!

Have you seen some of the depth on our team? We can even find a respectable #2 WR, and we're seriously worried about wasting a roster spot at this point?

Ozzie needs to get a WR with speed ASAP. One that can take the top off a defense. Maybe the 49'ers would consider a trade for Torrey, something like Arther Brown for Torrey and throw in a mid to late round pick if they want it.

In the meantime, we need to send Brown and Waller deep almost every play. With their size they can make the defenses respect the deep ball and get them out of 8 in the box which is killing our run game. Smith can get open underneath as well as MAxx to give Joe an outlet.

But we are in a tough spot of having to throw deep first to open up the run. Plus the offensive line has to play better. Play action is useless when you can't run the ball.

But we have faced 2 of the best defenses in the AFC so it is understandable to have only limited offensive success. Truth be told, we have had the lead in all 3 games late in the 3rd or in the 4th quarter. The defense was very good at times but inexplicably folded when the game was on the line. Daryl Smith and Upshaw dropping easy interceptions probably cost ud the games against Denver and Cincy. The b.s. call against Will Hill nullifying his interception against Oakland cost us that game.

This team has the ability to go on a run a get back in the picture. But it MUST start tonight against Pittsburgh. They are missing Ben, Pouncey, Suisham and Shazier. If we can't win this game then we might go 0-16.

Does this mean IR finally? Give Waller a real chance.

How has Waller's status changed when the guy who just had surgery hasn't played at all yet?

well, damn. This must suck for perriman. His rook season is on halt and may be over depending on the surgery performed. That has to be tough. Hopefully he can make a full recovery and come back stronger than ever.

Why is everyone calling for Waller, the guy looked like he had bricks on his feet in the preseason, no explosiveness at all, which is what we need and what we don't have in Aiken, and Brown.

Also the Giants lost Victor Cruz after he returned to practice just to re aggravate an injury on his leg i think. And you guys are too harsh on Marlon Brown. That guy performs, but its hard to perform when your QB doesn't even look your way. He was wide open on the play when Flacco threw the long bomb incomplete pass to Maxx at the end of the Cinci game.

You guys who are criticizing Marlon Brown are wrong smh. That guy makes plays and doesn't showboat. He also is very disciplined. Some of you on here just get amnesia.

if as you say all 3 are the same, 2 of the 3 have had chances to perform and they've failed. Why not give the other one, Waller, a shot. He certainly can't do worse and if he does so what? The Ravens aren't getting anywhere with the other 2 anyway. At least Waller could get some experience and perhaps develop. I think the young man has talent and could produce on the field.

If i were the ravens, i wouldn't let this perriman injury dissuade me from addressing the wr position in next yr's draft. I'd even use a high pick again. I wouldn't use a first rounder (This team needs another elite defensive talent) but would definitely use a 2nd or 3rd. Seemingly every yr, there's a r-cobb/ty-hilton/e-sanders available in those rounds. It's time to dive in and get a technician w/ really good athleticism there. The ravens got their HWS (height/weight/speed) prospects in last year's draft. Flacco needs a young route runner who can flourish while he still has a big arm. If the ravens decide to neglect the WR position in next yr's draft because of this injury to BP, i'll be highly disappointed. Aiken and brown are not the answer now and will not be the answer next season. They are backups, plain and simple.

Does this team have needs at other positions? Yes. However, i believe the WR position will be the biggest need of this team next season, bar none w/ corner being 2nd. This offense is steve smith or bust. Steve's retiring after the season. Hopefully the FO realizes that, drafts a 2nd/3rd round technician and then signs a vet wr who flacco can click w/ from a confidence standpoint. The rest of the picks can be used on defense if need be.
