Perriman injury updates

What really needs to happen is we need to put Darren Waller out there at WR2. Sure he's raw, but he's got some intangibles that I think could help spark this offense, instead of relying on SSS to do EVERYTHING for the passing game.

got nothing to loose at this point.

he should be a great run blocker.

might get some outside runs going as well.

Exactly, might as well see what we got in the young guys that normally never see the field under Harbaugh...

At least throw Waller some decent passes. Put Camp at #2. Use 4-5 WR sets for quick hitters on first and second down. The entire league knows the Ravens bunch formations and been stuffing them before they can develop.

The thing that's REALLY annoying is how nobody is claiming to know anything. Ben goes down and we get a hard 4-6 weeks. But Perriman is still apparently unknown. I feel like the FO absolutely does know something (something bad) and is trying to sweep it under the rug for appearances. At this point I don't expect to see Perriman on the field this year at all.

I cant see this being the case.  Roster spots are to valuable so if we was hurt that badly and they knew it, they would have put him on IR.  At this point Perriman must be a slow healer and sometimes guys are like that.  I would expect to see him play vs. Cleveland or San Francisco, but that is pure speculation

Right. I think they've explained what the injury is. It just seems to be healing a lot slower than doctors anticipated. Nothing can happen until the injury is healed properly. Coaches and doctors are probably just as confused as we are and can't to anything but wait. I'm not sure why everyone thinks there is a big secret being kept behind doors. He was practicing last week to test it out. Football may not be as much of a soap opera as we think all the time.

Ben Roethlisberger was diagnosed with the same thing wasn't he? McLain sprain and bone bruise. Apparently 4-6 weeks

How long Ben will be out is unknown at this time.  Just b/c they said 4-6 weeks doesn't mean it can't be longer.   You know that everyone doesn't heal the same even if they have the same injury.

I have asked this before.

How is it any of our business, the health and condition of the players?

Out of curiousity, you do realize QBs and WRs don't put the same type of stress on their legs.  Rivers played in the playoffs a few years back on an MCL sprain if I recall.  But he didn't have to make cuts, hard plants on comebacks, etc.

You guys really need to get over this.  He'll be back when he's healthy

It's funny how harbaugh can even deny knowing about Perriman having a minor setback. I mean why else would he start practicing and then not be practicing the following week? Pretty much speaks for itself. I get harbaugh can't reveal everything but damn there's a point where your just insulting people's intelligence.

Yeah don't understand that mind game other than to push the point that he's tired of talking about Perriman lol

Even though Perriman's raw, he played in a Pro Style offense at UCF, pro style sets are rare in NCAA. Just because he's raw doesn't mean he won't have an impact. I'm sure being in a pro style offense will help him getting acclimated to the playbook and this offense.

I get why people are antsy. The reality is we've begged years for a true #1 WR early, Ozzie gives it to us, and he doesn't see the field. There's so much hype around the first pick and rightly so. I liked Perriman before we picked him, and I'll even admit I was surprised we selected him with that pick. I honestly thought he was more of a second round guy and I know others know that as well regarding my opinion.

With that said, you have to give a guy a chance. Is it frustrating? I can't imagine anyone who isn't frustrated, from Ozzie to Harbaugh to Trestman to Joe and probably even Steve Smith, the rest of the offense, defense, special teams and Bobby Engram.

I doubt these guys train so hard only to be injured intentionally or to simply chill on the sideline and collect game day checks. We're mad because we're losing and I think the team's probably sick of it as well. We (the Ravens, not the fans) are probably more frustrated than anyone because this is their job. I am sure Harbaugh is tired of it, of him being hurt and of the incessant questions he gets on it.

If Perriman is a bust due to injury, nobody could foresee that. But then again, while I realize we've been snake bit before when someone fell down stairs and also turned out to be a wasted pick, this isn't a Sergio Kindle situation. This isn't the man's head.

I think Perriman has a PCL sprain rather than MCL... or so we're told. ;)

Bet money that Ben plays again before Perriman.

Tebow will play again before Perriman returns.

NFL insiders were tweeting that Newsome was on the horn to Chicago re: Alshon Jeffry, so I'm guessing the Perriman news about to come out is not good.

where do you hear that news on perriman is coming out soon?

and for the record, ozzie is gonna kick the tires on any option, he probably makes calls all year long just to inquire, he loves testing waters just to know if he could potentially find a good deal one day. that is not exactly news

Just to be clear I have heard Nothing to suggest a bad report is about to come out.  The NFL insiders merely relayed Newsome's interest in Jeffry.  If Perriman were about to play, I don't think Newsome would be shopping for what is likely going to be an expensive acquisition. Sending top draft picks away is not Newsome's style.

Whats the highest pick Newsome has sent off, anyone know....and how recently?

I read them online. I believe it was at NFL.com, but I can't seem to relocate them.

There's a post by Sarah Ellison at Baltimoreravens.com that discusses Perriman pulling up lame Sunday. But that's the only reference at Ravens.com pertaining to the speculation that I can find.

i believe a 4th for monroe, maybe it was a 5th.

thats still beside the point, if ozzie was really taking a genuine interest in jeffery, he wouldnt be doing it because perriman will be hurt all year, ozzie doesnt get in win-now panic mode where he ships off draft picks for a player who can possibly help an already derailed season.. if ozzie is inquiring about alshon jeffery and is willing to trade a high pick, he is doing it so he can sign him to an extension and we can have a strong duo for the next 4-5 years.

ozzie has always been a guy who inquires about players, he does it all the time, it is verrrrrrrrry rare that ozzie calling and inquiring about a top shelf player ever comes to pass, i think boldin and monroe may have been the only time that has happened, and both times the team was actively shopping them around.

If Ozzie inquired about Jeffrey it has nothing to do with whether or not Perriman is healthy, going to play, etc. Ozzie will look for ways to make the team better.

Even if Perriman was absolutely tearing it up rn Ozzie would try to get Jeffery. Why? He wants to make the freaking team better. Jeffery/Steve/Perriman suddenly becomes a devastating trio. Wth Crockett and Maxx over the middle is easily the best WR Corp we would WR have.

I want Perriman to get healthy. But I think we're pressing hard for Jeffery because of Trestman. The offense has done nothing but improve and adding a stud would benefit us big time.

I agree it would be outside of his modus operandi.

Obviously, if you are going to sign a player of Jeffery's talent and "trade cost" you are not going to do that based on one year.  The story I read indicated it would be a la the Monroe deal....that is no deal unless a term commitment could be also signed.

You want to add further concern to the equation?  I believe I've got a firm grasp on Jeffery's talent level. It's high, but...........He's been out almost all year!

He won't come cheap and Oz won't pay, but don't be surprised if Perriman is down for the count.
