Perriman injury updates

I wonder what things might have been like if Pitta and Perriman were on the field; if SSS didn't have to do it everything all by himself.

Our defense would still get torched...

Wow. I seem to recall a certain defensive draft pick that went on IR his first season and everyone was all "oh get better man! Can't wait for him to play next season!" (wish I could remember who that was - Urban? I think.)

But we can't give this young man 3 games. Or even 7 if it takes that. Seriously.

Whenever he is ready - get him on the field. Done season or not - want him to have that experience.

Yup.  That is exactly what happened with Urban.  Even going on IRDR this season, many were still saying "at least we'll have him back and fresh for the playoff run" (that seems unlikely).  Meanwhile, Perriman is a bust for 3 games.  Fans are fickle and as inconsistent as this team right now

Probably has a lot to do with the fact that he was being looked at as an answer at a position of weakness, while Urban is a guy that we could use, but could also do without due to what we already have at DL.  The 1st round tag also makes people rush to assumptions.

He wasn't a first round pick.

Urban was a 5th round pick and played a position we didn't need. Therefore he wasn't needed. Perriman is a first round pick and is very needed. Edited by Cillmatic

I was really hopeful that he would be ready for the Steelers, but the Browns would be good, too

He hurt himself again. Hes not playing the steelers game people.

Yeah a lot of people are making assumptions.

Nothing else we can do. The guy is like Big Foot or the Lochness monster.

Yeah if we took Urban in the first round and had a significant hole at DE, you would see the same thing you are seeing now. Kinda like if an UDFA gets injured, no one is calling them out on it.

I don't think you have much to lose keeping Perriman on the active roster, even if it means he won't return until after the Bye.

I mean, do you really think whoever takes his roster spot if he goes on IR is really going to make a difference? Like, if they replaced Perriman with Butler, would it have been the difference between a W and a L in any of these games? I doubt it. I'd like to give Perriman even a few weeks of real game experience at the end of the season, even if it's in just a few meaningless games before the season ends.

Its almost inevitable.  You can see it from a mile away.  Perriman is going to be a major bust if he doesn't play after the bye.

Its almost October folks.  What is wrong with this kid?  You have guys with MCL that comes back by now @ preseason injury!

Yeah a lot of people are making assumptions.

And to assume is to.....

People. Calm down. You can rarely call a person a bust after three freaking games

Anywho, I get the frustration. Consistent success. Even the year we missed the playoffs was not a losing season. A down year is usually inevitable when you're going through a transitional period with younger players. Which we have a lot of. I''m not surprised tbh. Growth hurts lol.

But life goes on. If you're spending all day worrying about this. Don't, tis not worth it.

As for Perriman. I think he's gonna be great. He had concentration drop issues, but was a far superior prospect to Torrey and just as fast. He has a route tree in place, just not great at running them yet. I think Engram is a good WR coach. He was good at Pittsburgh and helped developed Tyler Boyd for a season.

But the doom and gloom is getting old. Yes. To the negative people. You were right. But why are you proud of it? Don't say you aren't. Otherwise you wouldn't be rubbing it in our faces. Perriman is already a bust? C'mon man. At least let him play first, which he eventually will. We won't give up on him after one season. We're having a down year cause we have a young team. Get over it. Harbaugh is going nowhere, neither is Trestman, good chance Pees sticks around till the seaosn ends.

Perriman is not a bust. You cannot detirmine if a player will be a bust after their first season unless they're horribly bad. Like Elam. It took Jimmy Smith three years to properly develop, and now he has to come back from injury. It took Osemele three years to become a good guard(though it appears he's playing hurt... Never helps). It took Crockett two years to become a viable recieving threat. It took Flacco two years to start looking like more than a game manager. It took Dennis Pitta three years to win the full time starting TE job. It took Brandon Williams a year to develop.

Rookies don't always have to have an immediate impact. I'm fine with waiting. It may be a "Win now" league. But we're building for the future. We had that good core of Lewis, Reed, Suggs, and Ngata. When we got Flacco and Rice we started winning games. When we traded for Q and developed Torrey and Pitta we won it all.. Now our core consists of Mosley, Williams, Hill, and Jimmy(who even with his down week, will probably rebound eventually. He was still awesome week one). We're gonna need a little more defensivley. Another corner, pass rusher, and maybe ILB(I think Davis, and Jernigan are very good pieces for the near future).

Offensivley we have a younger core than ever(I don't consider Forsett part of it). We have Flacco, who's a proven SB winner. But now we have Crockett Gillmore, Maxx Williams(who will eventually become useful. I stand by my statement that he was the safest pick in the draft), and Perriman looks to be like an important part of this. We need a good RB(cause face it. Justin is the product of a good oline), and another capable WR. Cause Perriman at worst is a deep threat.

We're young. We've built from the middle out. Which was very smart. But now we need the skill. But in no way, do I think Perriman is a bust. WAYYY too early to tell. He could be, but I doubt it.

I'm already done with perriman. Made of glass. So every bump and minor strain is 3 months?

Make no mistake..ozzie and co wish they could do a re-run of that draft.
