Perriman injury updates

545 posts in this topic

Yeah I catch your drift, but my comment was addressing the basic sentiment that Perriman is one of the bigger receivers Joe ever had to throw to. Perriman is what 6'-1" max. Flacco had many receivers bigger than that over the course of his career and as it stands right now, we don't know if Perriman will be better than any of them. I'm hoping he is, but at this point no one KNOWS that.

He's at least 6'2" and about 220lbs. He's easilly one of the bigger wideouts we've had with Flacco

i was comparing perrimans ability to waller and marlons abilities.

waller and marlon so far havent shown much of a skillset. marlon has been good at turning upfield and lowering his shoulder after the catch and that is about the extent of his skillset, meanwhile waller has shown nothing at all. THEY are the 2 i was referring to lumbering around just being tall.

basically... you just seem to have tuned out everything prior to my post and read it way out of context lol

Maybe a little.  I Sometimes suffer from a slight case of ADHD...  I think perspective and emotion are hard to read sometimes...  I just know there are people that actually do believe the guy hasn't been doing anything.

yeah lol when i said "perrimans ability to play wr rather than lumber around being tall" was referring to marlon brown and darren waller just lumbering around being tall, not perriman.

I recall Marlon Brown making a game saving "jump and catch" at the back of the end zone his rookie season two years ago. I think his production may have to do with what he is being asked to do (how he is being used). Since that catch I do not recall seeing him targeted while the team was in the red zone.

Well I'm concerned about talk about some knee issues earlier in his football career .

nah, he had a disease that is fairly common, and it goes away after adolescence, it wasnt a recurring injury or anything.

to put it simply, his bones grow faster than his knee ligaments when he hits his adolescent growth spurts, and it hurts and swells, once he is done growing in his late teens/early 20s, the condition goes away.

I hope you are right but I'm beginning to wonder if there's more to it then that.

Would love to see him come back against the Steelers....Anyone know how he looks? Also thread title should be updated. :)

i mean there could secretly be more to his osgood schlatters than is being reported, but medicince supports that OS is grown out of by adulthood. his father had it as well and he played a decent length career with no issues in his knees at all.

i think most of us just underrated how serious a bone bruise can be. an extremely fast player, with long limbs and a relatively large frame, simply cannot return to play with an injury like that, and the pcl strain doesnt make it any easier.

No update really on how his status is. I'd prob. say he'll be questionable against Pitt. I doubt he'll have much reps nor will he start. If we plays, I anticipate him being a decoy similarly to how Torrey was used against Miami last year. I'm confident he'll debut Week 5.

I grew up with it, as did my wife and father lol. It only really hurts as a teenager. At 24 I don't even remember that I had it half the time. And the bump is gone. Edited by CalvinSmoke

I have Osgood Schlatter's. The bump is still there (I'm 26), but it's not bothersome at all unless I hit it against something. It did bother me a lot when I was in high school though when I did track.

maybe he has that bump and thats what happened. just a bit more pain.

but yeah everything i have read and heard about this disease makes it sound like a complete non-issue

Anyway, hope to see Perriman soon, he has some proving to do too. Not sure if he will be ready by the Steeler's game but perhaps the one after.

I neither think nor indicated that Marlon should have Perriman's or SSS position (your perception). I recognize his current role in the offense as a #3 wr and acknowledged his skill as a blocker. I came late to the conversation but recall words you used like "lumbering" when referring to Brown. I'd also note that he responded fairly well when "force fed" his rookie season. I believe his drop off is directly proportional to his reduced targets and I don't see him messing up out there more than an other wrs. Players can only make plays when given the opportunity. It's also up to the coordinator, his game plan/play calling, and QB to involve more wrs to a higher degree.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing changes made in the lineup as the season matures.

Breshad Perriman, who has already been declared out for week, doing sprints up and down the field in pregame. Hope he's worked on his hands while he was out.

He better know the playbook cover to cover.

Please provide sources when posting.

@TDavenport_NFL: Perriman is understandably not planting his foot in the ground with a lot of force as he cuts. It is still a good sign that he is running.

While it's good that he is able to sprint, he is still a couple weeks away if he is favoring his knee while running routes.

And...

Perriman just pulled up lame in end zone trying to get a deep ball.

WR coach Bobby Engram going to see Perriman who is bent over behind the end zone. Now he's walking with a more obvious limp.

Perriman hasn't sought out any members of the medical staff after that play. He's still on the field catching passes during warmups.

Breshad Perriman came up gimpy trying to track a deep ball during warmups. He's stay on the field but hasn't run any more routes.

this looks like one of those..' he was always injured'' picks

We'll see but its not looking good.

I think the team might be rushing him back because he was MIA until we lost in Oakland and then he was suddenly back at practice.

I'd be a fan if we could actually see something.

He's looking like the offense's version of Webb at this point. I was already skeptical because of his hands, but at this point he won't even see the field this year.
