Perriman injury updates

545 posts in this topic

This one was dated Tuesday.......  I don't know that there were the details as to "what" was done yesterday.  Just that he was having surgery.

Yeah I thought there was no surgery done but just a scope. I'm reading updates today saying he got surgery and that differs in contrast to what Harbs said yesterday that they just decided to take a look inside. This whole fiasco has been confusing honestly lol

I heard his leg fell off. In front of Harbaugh. He's denied he knows what a leg is and is said to be focusing on Cleveland.

So... out indefinitely... how long is that? lol

It really depends on how he's feeling and the progress he makes. Out indefinitely doesn't mean he's out for the season. For all we know he could be feeling much better and close to 100% all of the sudden and next week play against Cleveland. The Medical staff just doesn't know. I really feel like it has a lot of do with the slow healing rather then the severity of the injury. Since it's healing really slowly they just don't know when he'll be back since it's such an unusual process for a PCL injury.

No one here can tell how long he'll be out, it could be 2 weeks, or 7 weeks.

Comments are "Sooner rather than later"...  I think that the thought was much longer before we knew what they actually did in there.

I just don't understand why they have kept a veil of mystery over the Perriman injury .

It's not fair to him if you think about it ,

I know ... all it has done is turn a lot of fans against him. I really don't think if Kevin White is on our team (where an injury is clearly stated as what it is and a reasonable time frame provided) you have nearly as many people crying bust as we have now. Not that there wouldn't be some, just not as many.

Yeah - I'm sure some will say it doesn't matter what fans think ... especially when so many can tend to get irrational, but still it is giving the world (fans, media, everyone) the impression that he's soft, rather than he's genuinely dealing with a serious injury and that is indeed not fair.

The secrecy is a bit strange. If they hem and haw about SSS, for example, that would make sense because it could be a strategy to keep other teams on their toes, but no one is going to prepare for a guy who hasn't played a down.

I can't think of any strategic advantage in hiding Breshad's prognosis so I had been thinking that maybe they were truly baffled (the scope would seem to suggest that they really don't know). But, on the other hand, Harb's odd denial makes it hard to think they don't have something up their sleeves.

It's really not fair to him. Granted I'm sure Harbs and the medical staff never really had a problem like this but it's turning people on him, calling him injury prone and a bust. Perriman is a great guy and it sucks this has to happen to him. I really think they should be more upfront instead of being mum about it. Hopefully those stem cells boost his recovery time. Lots of people are saying he had surgery when he really just had his knee scoped.

Just saw that Harbaugh said Perriman also had a stem cell injection in addition to the knee scope. I've heard nothing but good things about stem cell therapy for athletes, to me this is great news for Perriman long term. For those unfamiliar, stem cell therapy is what Peyton Manning had done to his surgically fused neck and he had amazing results. Since then it's been highly popularized among athletes in a broad range of sports because of the massive amount of success stories it's yielded.

It sucks that Perriman probably won't play until the very end of the season, if at all... but the re-aggrevation might be a blessing in disguise. To me that knee was a liability even if his return went smoothly and it's probably better long term that he had the knee scoped and got the stem cell injection. I think the stem cell therapy is huge and is going to give him so much confidence in the durability of that knee when he returns.

Everyone keep using the word "secrecy"

Is it possible that the coaches, staff and doctors simply do not know what really going on?

I've been saying that for awhile. That's why it's better to not tell us what's going on with Perriman.

It might not be ALL good. Peyton said after the surgery he lost feeling in his fingertips.

Peyton was dealing with a Kneck injury, was in his mid 30s, and has played better without the feeling in his fingertips than with it.

I don't believe stem cell treatment is the reason he lost sensation in his fingertips. It's more like a result of the neck injury itself since the nerves in his neck would affect those in his fingertips, whereas a knee injury isn't typically known for its nerve damage effects. I don't even recall ever hearing someone having decreased sensations in their fingertips as a result of a knee injury lol.

It was his neck which directly affects your nervous system, there's a reason why serious neck/back can affect your ability to move/walk. Either way Peyton wouldn't still be playing football without the stem cell therapy. There isn't even any evidence that the loss of feeling was due to the stem cell therapy and not just the initial neck injury which is far more likely.

Just watched Harbaugh's press conference. There were more clarifications on what has been going on with the guy. Week 3 against the Bengals when he got hurt, he didn't necessarily re-injure his PCL, rather he just had a strain which kept him out for the following practices and the game. He did NOT have surgery but rather a scope and injected some stem cells which hopefully boost a recovery, but I don't think it'll help him immediately. Once he begins running with the first team that's when he'll return.

@JamisonHensley

"Ravens coach John Harbaugh reiterated Breshad Perriman doesn't have a new injury. Been dealing with strained PCL since first day of camp."

He'd be injured trying to pass our physical...

He'd get a concussion from just reading some of the opinions on this forum.

It really sucks that everyone's turned on him like this. It's not his fault, injuries are a part of Football. I'm just as eager to see him play as anyone else on this board, but all you can do is just be patient and wait. Yelling at him and saying obscene thing to him on social media won't speed up his recovery process, it just makes the entire fan-base look rude as hell. Does anyone else want to know who else is more frustrated than the fan base, medical staff, players, or Harbaugh? Perriman. I can't imagine how the guy is feeling right now.

They're talking about Welker who should get nowhere near a football field...ever again!

I enjoy football a lot, and as someone who enjoys it I would not like to see Welker on the field. Health reasons
