[News] 5 Things To Watch At Steelers

29 posts in this topic

Honestly, I think having PIT looking to "pound the rock" over and over plays into our hands. OAK had a game plan that appeared to be - they can't rush the passer, they can't cover, so why not throw the football?

The only reason we didn't stop the OAK run game is because they set us up so completely by shredding us through the air. If a team says, we're going to run ... try to stop it, then I think we can do a good job of stopping it. That's about the only thing this defense has done a good job at.

I realize that Bell is awesome and that PIT may be reluctant to unleash Vick, but I don't mind if they take that approach. Of course, it won't matter of we stop the run on 1st & 2nd down and give up 3rd & 8 over and over again.

gets pretty annoying reading about all the good and elite receivers on every team in the AFC North EXCEPT ours.

The drop off in talent between us and the other three teams at that position is and continues to be depressing. even the Browns had Josh Gordon.

We need to get out quick, score quick and don't let them catch up. The best way to beat teams is to force them to be one dimensional by putting them in a spot to catch up. Bell has never done well against us and Vick wants to throw the ball deep so getting a quick lead and shutting down Bell initially will make it easier to focus on Brown and the passing game. Williams will get a chance to prove he was worth moving up for in the draft and as far as I am concerned, this is make or break for Aiken, M Brown and M Campanaro. We cant keep going wishing and hoping and waiting for these guys to produce. It has been years now with just a very few flashes of what a pro receiver should look like. To me this tells me whether they are capable of making it in the NFL or we need to go out via trade and get another eceiver. If the Ravens are just writing off this season in hopes of a high draft pick then fine, but we aren't out of this, even if we lose tonight and it will be interesting to see if the FO just accepts mediocrity or whether they go out and get someone before Steve Smith Sr. ends up burnt out and injured and we have no one.

They're not a line em up pound the rock offense anymore. They use multiple formations create one on one match ups and make adjustments at the line. I dont expect things to change other than less audibles.

What'll be interesting especially is whether Flacco can show how clutch he's been in the past to win games in Q4 and keeping solid cool.

THIS FO doesn't accept mediocrity and look to rebuild next year. That is why Ravens are a constant playoff contender. Until off season, nothing matters but the closest game. That is why I have such respect. We are still in the run for playoffs.

Please no leaning on Aiken and Brown. I've had enough of these articles about these two guys being relied upon.

I'll be more than happy with SSS, Campanaro, Williams, Boyle, Kyle as our receiving targets.

dont expect much different in this game. Scoring is probabaly going to be back and forth. The keys are score touchdowns not field goals, hold them to field goals. Control the clock, dont let them get us off the field quick. Play hard play tough and win the turover ratio!

There are weapons on this team...Trestman has got to work the game plan accordingly. If players dont make plays then sit them down! Next man up...Waller needs some more game time, Joe did not get him the ball well both passes. Marlon and Aiken have both dropped more than one, this is not acceptable. Camp needs to get the ball more, Juice needs to get the ball more, Both ROokies need to get the ball more, this will open up the running game. Lets go Ravens!

Vick will go for the long ball on the very 1st play then rush Bell when least expected then back in the air sorta like what the Ravens should be doing! Put them away they are honoring jerome bettis and it will be alot of electricity in the air! Let's get the rubber gloves out and handle that electricity the rite way and shut it off! LETS GO

The thing to watch will be rising star Brandon Williams vs their backup Center. He already demolished Bodine last week. Hope the Steelers don't plan on running up the middle.

hurtful, yet very true.  We are the only team within the division that can't draft any talented pass catchers outside the numbers.

All I know is if Vick comes in and beats us on 1 day of 1st team practice and we go 0-4 after having Superbowl aspirations this will without a doubt be the low point of Ravens football and fandom for me. Not to mention the Perriman news today. I say if we lose tonight just tank - no way were going to go 10-2 the rest of the year with this team so why not at least get a good 1st rd pick - that maybe will actually see the field. Get us a good RB and S in FA with that $ we have and go WR, CB, CB or S in the draft.

We are snake-bitten at drafting WR's. Heck, even A. Boldin didn't have a long tenure here. And Sr. is retiring after 2 years here. Go figure. There's nothing we can do to run the ball, either, because teams know if they shut the run down, we don't have a chance, so that's what they do. I tell you, our wide receivers, TE's too, really need to straighten up and fly right. We need every receiver out there on the field to get open and catch and stretch the field. I hope Trestman let's Flacco loose more and takes 15 to 20 yard shots every so often, we need that to back them off and thus give us some chance to run. We can do it tonight in Pitt.

Big challenge tonight - even with Big Ben out. Hope for some turnovers with Vick playing...BUT he can still make plays, especially against a weak Ravens defense. We need the young tight ends to step up, and I think they will. They come to play. The O line really needs to step up. Our secondary? Maybe the new guy will help, but I think they are what they are - lacking skills and talent. We need a pass rush to help the weak secondary. If we don't get these things, we're looking at 0-4.
