I've never heard of a concussion making somebody miss 3 1/2 games. Then again, I've also never seen an injury treated as strangely as Perrimans...what's the deal Ravens medical staff?

Many players have missed weeks/months b/c of a single concussion.  He's not the 1st.  Plus independent doctors/specialists have to give Monroe approval before he can play.

In fairness, concussions are different for everyone. I have heard of players retiring because of concussions that scared them regarding long term effects or compounded effects.

kubiaks running game is avg. 2.8 yards per carry i believe so he is having issues as well. our problem is with no deep threat or other receivers stepping up defenses are stacking playing an extra man in the box and aside from sss the other receivers are not getting open quickly enough to take advantage. good luck tonight ravens and hope we pull it out

Harrison usually has a field day against the Ravens. Hurst is in for a rough night unless he gets some help, chip blocking, double teaming, or sliding pocket protection, something otherwise it'll be turnstile Hurst and Flacco will get lit up. Ravens and injuries are baffling. Nothing more to say about Perriman, not even Sherlock Holmes could solve that mystery. Monroe seems to be a part time player. He's a big disappoint if not because he's sitting out it's his mediocre play when he does start. Hopefully Vick will be as bad as some predict and the Ravens end the losing streak.

Ask Luke Kuechly... he will be missing his 3rd game this Sunday.

Also, there are players who suffered concussions already this seen that have been placed on IR.

Like any offensive "gimmick" scheme in the NFL; ie, wildcat, read-option, etc, if you give any good defensive coordinator a year to study it, they will find a way to shut it down.  I think we're seeing the same thing with the Zone Blocking scheme. Defensive coordinators are finding a way to attack the ZBS and neutralizing the run game.

I have been wondering what's going on w/Wagner. Last year, I believe, he was rated as the best RT in football. What changed w/him? Hurst, I understand. I think Hurst will need some help if he's going to be out there. I guess we have no better options at this time. "We're just not executing" is no real explanation. Coaching? Effort? Preparation? The opposition stacking the box more? I feel it's the latter, more than anything. C'mon, coaches. Move the pocket, etc. and quit being so darned predictable. Mix it up and do different things to make them respect the pass. If we don't, expect more of the same results.

On the practice field they originally diagnosed it as a bruised knee, but how many times have the doctors on the field  got it wrong and the next day reported that its worse than they originally thought.

Perriman sprained his knee, and it takes 6-8 weeks for that to heal. 8 weeks after the injury he returned to the practice field.  A few days later during practice he re aggravated it.  What is strange about that?

In sports, this same scenario has probably played out thousands of times, but people are acting like its a big deal.

Please please please do NOT act like you're going in for an easy win with Roethlisberger out! Underestimating competition is exactly the thing to break a back. Expect that it's the toughest game you will ever play. Work yourselves up. Get the adrenaline running!

As to Crabtree, Perriman and others - it's so easy to judge and "I would have done it differently!" in hindsight. Fact is, we never know what happens and every single one of us is wining it, hoping for the best. Some people are better prepared, like Ozzie for example, improving the odds of getting lucky, but when it comes down to it, some things you just cannot predict.

I hope these players are ready to play "Steeler/Ravens rivalry" tough for all 60 minutes tonight. No let up. No room for doubt. No mental lapses/mistakes. Omit knucklehead penalties. Tonight can be the night to point the season in a positive direction. Let's get it done.

I would agree, except when you have a real threat w/your passing game. If the opposition has guys that can cover, especially w/man coverage, they just come at you and also stack the box. Makes for a long day, regardless of what blocking scheme you implement. All you have to do is take a quick look up at NE. See anyone slowing them down? Maybe a bit, but they quickly adjust and they, of course, have the coaching and personnel to make you pay for stacking the box. We don't.

About those PFF grades: Jimmy Smith grades out as the number 8 corner? Amari Cooper and AJ didn't get the memo. Jimmy is also the number four most targeted corner with a minus 1.5 coverage. Too bad they didn't give Ronald Darby a look or reconsider Marcus Peters. Both had positive grades while being even more highly targeted. Needless to say the team effort and the opponent play a role in the overall grade. Then there's Pernell McPhee on the PFF at number seven among edge defenders, Boldin number 7 among WRs. Fortunately Ben ranks second and we'll miss him.

Proof that PFF doesn't tell the entire story.  Boldin has 112  yds and 12 catches in three games.  This guy is supposed to be their number one receiver and have is averaging less than 40yds a game.  I haven't watched the past two games but against Minnesota he looked like he didn't even want to be on the field.

i don't understand the deal with wagner. He was one of the best right tackles last year (#2 i believe) and now he suddenly sucks? What the heck is going on?

I am wondering if there are lingering effects from his injury. I mean, if Harbaugh is going to act coy about Perriman pulling up in pain during pre-game warmups, and if he is going to "forget" he yelled at Gruden on the sidelines, then there is no way he would let opposing teams know that our right tackle is at 75%.  It may also be that he has faced some stiff competition early in the season and a season is 16 games long so statistically he will get better as we play lesser teams.   Of course, it is all speculation because NFL teams cover up their injuries better than politicians cover up their indiscretions.

This game will determine the rest of the season. A big win tonight will give us some confidence. We naturally are good at limiting the run game but we need to slow down AB somehow with double coverage and pressure vick into making some bad throws. Flacco and company will hopefully put up 20 plus so that we can close this game out

Sort of misleading, because we fans just assume that Jimmy was on Green all game. He wasn't. Specifically, we know the 80 yard TD Green had was coverage from Kendrick Lewis, not from Jimmy.

Without looking at the numbers, my guess would be that Jimmy himself probably accounted for roughly 100 yards or maybe less from Green.

Don't recall the coverage schemes for Amari, but I don't recall Jimmy chasing him around the field either, and I think they moved him around quite a bit.

I think this game will make or break our season. If we beat the Steelers tonight I think that momentum will carry over and help us take care of the Browns and 49ers, I doubt we will beat Arizona but then we have Chargers, Jags, Rams, browns and Dolphins so we can easily be 8-4 at this point, Then we have Seahawks, Chiefs, Steelers and Bengals to finish out the season, we need to win two of the last fours game and I think we're in the playoffs. GO RAVENS

I have confidence we can stuff their run game. People were pointing at Bell's injury as to why we beat the Steelers in the playoffs, but he never runs well against us.

We have a good run defense, I'm worried about containing Michael Vick when he decides to take off and run, pressuring him, and of course stopping Antonio Brown.

We gotta be able to give their QB no confidence with early interceptions and sacks, hope Jernigan and Carl Davis unleashes their full potential this game.

it'd be nice to finally be able to run the ball well, y'know.

Didn't make any difference if ben played or not the Ravens gonna "EAT REGARDLESS"! LET'S GO !

I'm all for rooting for my team but there is nothing that makes me think they are going to "EAT" the Steelers.  We can't sleep on Vick, he's still mobile, still has an arm and our secondary has proven they can't even cover rookies - and now they have to cover Antonio Brown.  This game is not going to be an easy win and unfortunately I honestly see us sitting at 0-4 after tonight.

Let the negs begin...

As I sit here reading everyone's comment's, I find myself already starting to take some deep breath's and blowing it out quite loudly. Something that I don't normally do until game time! It is my way to keep my head from popping off during a game, and keeping my blood pressure down. At this point, I have resided to the fact that anything can happen.....I just hope that whatever "it" is, it goes our way. I can't take breathing like this all day....is it game time yet??!! :th_thimpatient:
