[News] Who's Playing, Who's Not At Steelers

112 posts in this topic

Ravens r more than a little lucky to go up against Vick instead of Rothlisberger. But more impressive than the Steeler offense are the young players on defense. While the Ravens have outstanding Brandon Williams and high expectations for Jerrnigan and Davis the Steelers quietly amassed a ton, literally perhaps of defenders including Shazier (15 tackles etc against 49rs) who will miss the Thursday night game, Tuitt, Dupree and old man, Hayward, all of twenty six. It's impressive how they've reloaded instead of going after short term aging players. If Joe is able to find his receivers and hopefully the OL can reopen those hitherto closed seams in the defense Justin can have a good day. I hope Joe doesn't feel the pressure of having to show his "leadership chops" as Garrett described it the other day. The video wasn't really impressive. Just keep the ball in purple jersey control Joe and forget the heroics.

Good draft picks and finding others players you can stack. Lately Ozzie has lost it.

and those picks and players play for free and cost nothing?

there aint 1 team that manages to strike on every pick they have and how many teams where crowned champions of FA and actually went on and archieve any thing?

Michael Vick 1st play from scrimmage will be a long ball to AB! Gotta let Joe "OPEN IT UP" or he becomes too predictable! Plus it will get Marlon and Kamar goin! LETS GO!

reginaldcoleman.... the sqeelers missed on a ton of picks also.... Jarvis Jones was a 1st rounder who cannot find his way onto the field, sean spence cannot stay healthy. they have drafted people like Dre Archer who hasnt seen the field and Tuitt has been inconsistent at best. Shamarko Thomas has not lived up to expectations, Deshon Goslson has seen the field... the even brought in poor FA's like Mike Mitchell. I will take the FA Safties that we brought in (WIll Hill and KLEWIS) any day over Mitchell... Heck they went out this season and traded for TBoykin to address their CB situation and he hasnt even been active yet. TBH... I am way more confident in Ozzie and Co to go out and address a need then what sqeeler fans should be. Dont be enamored with the sqeelers... if they played our schedule starting out... I think they would be 0-3 also. Shazier looks good against finese teams but struggles to stay healthy and on the field. He has missed more games then EMonroe. When the sqeelers lose tonight they will have a ton of excuses (no Ben, no Shazier) etc. Just like the did last year when they said they lost bc they didnt have LBell. (we didnt have Ray Rice last year we didnt cry) we dont have Suggs and Monroe etc... we arent making excuses. Pittsburgh has regressed under Mike Tomlin and they seem more worried about selling tickets and merchandise then winning at this point. They have a flashy offense but they are anything but a complete team! It will be a good win for us tonight!

There's no predicting how the rest of the season goes but based on our last 3 games, this season is going to be very frustrating. The Perriman thing is similar to the Kindle fiasco but BR.com seems to think that drawing cute super hero cartoons of him, will help us win games. Babin on the sideline doesn't make much sense either, Isn't this guy a veteran? Is HE hurt too or did we just get him in here to boost jersey sales??

Ozzie and company are up to something, I just can't figure out what it is.

We had several, self inflicted issues last season by picking up so many players coming off injuries. This season, Joe seems to have taken a couple steps backward and we STILL don't have anyone who can catch the ball past 10yds and especially don't have anyone who can cover anyone past 10yds.

The excuse now is, poor technique, REALLY? These guys need to be taught something that they've been doing for decades and at the very least, had a couple months to work it out in training camp and pre season? How long does it take for a top paid player to figure out how to play football? It's either poor drafting or poor coaching. Either way, it's not getting fixed this year. I just hope we can beat Cleveland and don't go 0-16. It's possible. There's no team on our schedule that we can say, "that's a win", even with the lowly Browns.

I say it's a lack of talent and that can't be fixed without replacing some guys. I don;t want to see any new players this year (With the exception of Perriman when he finally gets over his lingering knee issue). Play the guys we have, stick to your guns and beat that horse till it drops. We're probably not going to win the SB this year but I sure want to see more heart and determination from our players, regardless of what the score is.

As far as Joe "Opening it up", that's a bit scary to see every time he lobs a jump ball.

I think I'd be happier with a bunch of 6-9yd (accurate) pass plays. Our O line breaks down too often and Joe is getting happy feet again.

Ahhh, feels bad being a basement dweller. I miss picking on my Squeelers buddies.

Hey! If we run the table, starting tonight against the Steelers, then we will have a first round bye! Then maybe we can all start having our happy thoughts again! Go Ravens!

Are there any medical professionals in here? Maybe someone could share some light if it's normal for a person with concussion not be able to play for 3 weeks? We have had the strangest injuries this season, and regular injuries lasting forever. What's up with that? Medical personnel of this team has changed or what??

Luke Kuechly has missed the last two weeks with a concussion, and likely won't play this week either.

There is no standard amount of recovery time for a concussion. There are players who got a concussion and were put on IR, ending their season.

Without medical proof, I'd say the more prone the player is to concussions (how many they've accumulated over their career), the more difficult it gets to come back from them.

Why are people asking about Babin?  This article is based on who's not playing b/c of injuries.

Babin was a healthy scratch the past 2 game b/c he hasn't learned the defense.  I suspect once the coaches feel confident that Babin knows the defensive schemes, he'll play.  There's also the aspect of S/T. If Babin is activated, but he's a special teams liability, that means someone that contributes on ST will likely have to sit out.

Silver lining... if we lose tonight, there will literally be no reason for Babin to ever play, so we won't have to hear about him anymore.

Why aren't we discussing some of the other players who are healthy inactives? Are fans just now learning that all the guys who aren't active on gameday aren't necessarily injured?

Costs Steve money. Do the math one pro bowl caliber player in seven years. How many picks in a year? 10? Maybe he has  run his course. I say again SEVEN YEARS

As much as Ravens nation negs anyone that doesn't scream "In O we Trust", the facts are the facts. Is it really the coaches fault or is it a lack of talent provided. This team fight, plays hard, keeps , games close but the final moments of games are usually determine by players who can make plays. Ravens don't have enough of them to close the deal.

Sorry I have to disagree with you there, this team has a lot of talent more than most teams in fact. There is a reason why the Ravens were preseason favorites to make the playoffs and have a legit shot at going to the Super Bowl, Peter King even ranked them #1. The Ravens have talent and anybody saying Ozzie has 'lost it ' really isn't paying attention and repeating rhetoric they hear from the radio or some people on this board.

I thought like a decade ago fans realized that pro bowl designations don't actually mean anything...

from 2008 - 2015

webb 2nd team all pro.

mosley pro bowl and 2nd team all pro

osemele 2nd team all pro.

ray rice pro bowl + all pro

jimmy is pro bowl caliber.

brandon williams is pro bowl caliber.

flacco declined pro bowl last season.

grubbs and leron mcclain both made pro bowls for us in the past 7 years although they got drafted in 2007.

free agents he signed past 7 years that made pro bowl with us:

billy cundiff

justin tucker

vonta leach

jacoby jones

dumervill

justin forsett.

brendan ayanbadeyo

id say steve smith is well on his way is he keeps this up.

its pretty clear he added plenty of players to the roster in the past 7 years that went to the pro bowl or where even selected to be an all pro which btw is much harder to do.

roster he assembled in the past 7 years made the play offs 6 times.

has no losing season.

made it to the divisional round 3 times.

made it to afc championship 2 times

1 SB victory.

hard to argue he lost it tbh.

pats are the only team who has a better track record for the past 7 years.

Perriman out indefinitely after knee surgery performed by Dr. Andrews.

Another great pick by Ozzie.
