[News] Time To Shine For Ravens Rookie Tight Ends

42 posts in this topic

Disappointed about Gillmore not playing but Williams and Boyle can get the job done. Our TE's are going to be an important part of the offensive formula for success. Good luck guys and play lights out. You both will rise to the occasion.

I'm hoping Trestman pulls out all the stops on the Pittsburgh game. Leaving nothing on the shelf! Our tight ends can help us soften up their secondary. These guys have looked impressive so far. Get them the ball more... We need to play fast, physical and pissed off in Pittsburgh!

They just have to catch the ball, run block – do the simple things,Flacco said.

It's that simple - CATCH THE BALL BROWN AND AIKEN!!!!

I am a huge Ravens fan but I'm not excited about the team anymore THIS year. These guys have promise but their impact will be future years realistically. We just don't have the play makers this year and this team seems to lack the angry, sense of urgency it needs...except Smith Sr.

The TEs can be the answer in the redzone! Put one at WR quick pass and he will muscle his way in, jump ball muscle it away from smaller defender! Gronk style!

If only we could say the same about his wide receivers.

True....but you do need to give Ozzie some credit for this year's WR pick...........Perriman did come with the hype. But, sadly was injured. That is not Ozzies doing.

You could probably tell by re-watching the tape and meticulously monitoring for separation, but the full story on targets/receptions is that:

SSS has been targeted 40 times and caught 25.

Crocket 13 and caught 10.

Aiken 11/6,

Brown 11/6,

Maxx 11/5,

Campy 4/3,

Boyle 2/2 and

Waller 2/0.

For RBs it's:

14 targets of Forsett to 12 receptions,

LT 4/4,

Buck 2/2, and

juice 8/7.

That's 40 targets of SSS compared to 54 for the rest of the WRs combined. On the one hand you could say they aren't getting separation. But on the other hand you could say they aren't being targeted, so we can't tell whether they're getting separation.

Also, why is Juice never mentioned with the TEs? He's clearly a reliable target.

Man it's a shame Crockett probably won't be playing. His style is petfect for a game like this against our rival at Pittsburgh. He would have punished that defense.

Waller really needs to step it up. Im wondering if Steve Smiths character in the locker room has our other WR's minds off track.

You know they said in Carolina that he was a "locker room distraction". Regardless he is one heck of a player!! Just saying tho

TEs is the least of my worries. I think Boyle and Williams will do a fine job. They both are not afraid to do what it takes in the NFL. The exciting part is that they are only rookies and will only get better as time goes on. We are set with our 3 TEs in the future.

I like what I have seen from both these guys. They just need to build on their experience and Maxx needs to bulk up a little.

I am sure Maxx will be more bulked up by next year. Gilmore is bigger and stronger than last year. The NFL has better conditioning programs than college level.

Waller should be getting some more looks as well. 2 targets in a game will not help out a rookie trying to grow and get an advantage on the depth chart. I say Camp should probably start as #2 but I think Waller could be a deep threat himself if given the opportunity, maybe not through just his sneaky speed but his overall size as well.

No way SSS is anything but a great influence in the locker room. The Ravens are fortunate to have a strong presence like SSS to help his teammates get their heads on straight and fight their way back mentally. No better teammate than SSS to tell it like it is, no better player to emulate in guts and perseverance than SSS. SSS is a blessing in that locker room and the team really needs his leadership, especially now. I totally trust SSS to have the maturity and professionalism to know what to say, how to say it, who to say it to and know what the situation calls for. Whether SSS needs to offer the right words to encourage a teammate or get in their face and call them out, nobody is more respected or capable of helping this team crawl out of this hell,(as Harbs would describe it). Harbs is probably the person most appreciative of SSS's positive locker room presence right now. Edited by salamander
