[News] Late For Work 9/30: Don't Get Hopes Up For Alshon Jeffery, Matt Forte Trades

135 posts in this topic

ESPN, CBS and the Baltimore Sun noted that Perriman was hobbled during pregame. Thousands of fans were present when he pulled up on routes in pregame. He hasn’t practiced all week after slowly being reintegrated into practice last week.

So when our coach is asked about his re-injury, what do you think the answer is going to be?

Harbs: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

When the question is rephrased and asked again differently?

Harbs: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

This has become comical.

SMH.

Maybe the proper question to ask is “why are you being so weird about this, coach?”

Flacco needs to deliver late? Are you joking, Bedard? I'll be the first to admit that he hasn't looked great, and has made some questionable throws... But, he's also lead multiple comebacks in the same game this year. Do you expect him to win each game multiple times??

Defense needs to deliver late. Get it right.

flacco knows how to win late but here are the 4 problems that causing that issue this season 1) we do not have WR that is speedy since Peeriman is injured 2) are o line cannot block for the running game or passing game 3) dumb penalty on both side of the ball 4) defense blowing the lead late in the 4th

I mean, in his defense, it really doesn't benefit the Ravens for anybody outside of the organization to know anything about the injury.

Ok, if it's not Jeffrey's then IT NEEDS TO BE SOMEBODY ELSE. 3 games in and our #1 pick is sidelined again and our eldest WR is 36 years old and can't keep doing it. FO needs to right this ship immediately or start planning for next year!!

Or, mostly, the guys that are out there just simply need to play better. The ship can be righted without the FO's help...

No need for anything drastic, we could easily be 2-1 if the Defense was able to make the leads stand..Allow the youngsters to continue to get better.....

Got to agree with ya; defense has given up leads in every game.  They gave up 2 14 point leads against NE last year and that's continued into this season.

Defense playing poorly late in games.  Offense playing TERRIBLE early in games.  Spotting Cinci a 14-0 lead at half falls on the offense as well.  Who gave the Bungles the extremely short field by throwing a boneheaded pass to the flats that was picked by pacman Jones?  Yeah, must have been the defense...

There is not a player on the Ravens with more credibility than SSS to express frustration with any lax attitude that contributes to a losing outcome. SSS is absolutely right to be pissed at any player who is satisfied enough to just be on the team or fails to step up their game with at least maximum effort, both of which are the personal responsibilities of every single player to take upon themselves. Attitude is the 1 thing in each player's total control. I hope SSS continues to be verbal because every player can readily see 1000% effort out of a playmaker a decade older than most of them. SSS's non-verbal effort on each and every play can back up his every word. I hope SSS raises some hell in the locker room because he has their respect and has shown by example what effort and heart means, and what can be accomplished with the right mindset. Out of all the legit problems to fix, a change in attitude is the most individually controllable problem than can and must be addressed head on right now. Tell it like it is SSS, your teammates need to hear and heed your message.

Steve Smith Sr is on his last year at 36 years old. Trading for Alshon(25) would give us a young valuable, big bodied receiver. Him and Breshad would be a dangerous Wr duo. However, it just depends on the asking price.

Personally with all the turnover we have had over the last few years, i'm impressed we can still compete at a high level, again we haven't been blown out we have young core players, and new players on the team...It takes more than pre-season games for a team to gel, and be on the same page....In the long run we will be a very good team...Although as frustrating to watch us lose games, we have to look at the big picture....And people bashing Oz for his draft picks are insane, Perrmian was the best WR all through OTA's, and mini camp, injuries happen and isn't Oz's fault....And when you have such a small cap number to work in year in and year out, he has a heck of a track record finding players at the price we can afford...Give this team some time to gel....

We need to figure out what the deal is with these really slow starts on offense. 38 total yards in the first half at Denver. 0 points in the first half at home versus Cincy.

The difference I note is one of fear. Because Oakland lost several starters in the secondary we felt more comfortable opening it up early. With the others it seems like we get bogged down in our commitment to stay balanced early. But 'balance' thus far has meant 'incredibly predictable.'

If we pass of first and don't connect, you can guarantee it'll be a run on 2nd. If we run on 1st, the line isn't getting push and we'll gain a couple of yards only to run again on 2nd so we don't get stuck in the dreaded 3rd and long.

Imagine a day where as Ravens fans we can watch a game and not be terrified of failure on offense, and instead be excited in anticipation of success.

Maybe.  Then again, maybe they have already started to think: "This isn't our year.  I'm going to do a 'credible' but uninspired job, try not to get hurt, and hope maybe next year is better."  Or, "I am going to do just enough to keep my job, rake in millions, and then retire and open a restaurant."  Who knows?  One thing is for sure:  having SSS in their faces isn't going to make them play worse!

The fact that the front office and John Harbaugh are silent when it comes to Perriman's injury is inexcusable. The media has really let them slide on this and the fact that no information has been released is completely unprofessional. Having followed the Ravens for a long time, it's not that unusual for John to dance around injury questions but this is getting ridiculous. In fairness, some insight into the nature of the injury will not get our first round draft pick on the field any sooner but fans are really interested in the details rather than the ambiguity we've been getting. John's "I have no idea what you're talking about" in yesterday's presser was downright disrespectful. He needs to stop pretending that reporters are being nosy and understand that the reason these questions are being asked is because the people are sincerely interested in supporting their team and want its players to be healthy and successful.

I hope we drop the game in pittsburgh. I'm not a bad fan I'm just realistic. This team is decent but not super bowl worthy. We have a good base(Harabaugh flacco, Mosely, Yanda, J Smith) so a down year like this wont destroy us. id rather be picking in the 5-10 range for the draft then 12-18 range for going 8-8.

I hope this team comes together tomorrow. They need to do it for the fans. If I was harbaugh I'd just show them some clips of Ray Lewis to get their blood pumpin. Remind them what the uniform stands for.

Negative, Im tired of watching us lose. Tired of seeing our defense get embarrassed and laughed at. And the offense inconsistencies, let alone cant even run the ball smh.

We, absolutely, should be doing Everything we can to acquire Alshon Jeffery in a trade with the Bears. Everything possible! And I, for one, don't believe for One minute that Harbs doesn't know more than he's saying about Perriman's injury. That just Has to be total baloney. Perriman is this team's 1st rd draft choice and plays a position that is Critical for us to have improvement from. He has unlimited potential, and Harbs expects us to believe that he knows nothing!?! Baloney! If he Truly is not Continually trying to learn Everything he can about Perriman's injury and situation, then he is NOT doing his job. He can't honestly believe that we will swallow what he's saying. I guarantee you he's asking and if he, astonishly, isn't, then Shame on him. What's Really going on Harbs?

Why can't anyone get to the bottom of the strange case of Breshad Perriman? The coach knows nothing. The media knows nothing and won't attempt to interview number 18 about his status or outlook. His team mates know nothing. Does he really exist or is he a fantasy hologram that shows up on occasion on the practice field? Who is this Raven who is faster than a speeding bullet, who promises to fight the Raven way, who will take his team over the top in victory and glory for all?

One good thing is the Flacco elite debate has stopped. It was getting annoying. Fans were upset not be under the radar but wanted Joe to be recognized as elite. Well we are definitely under the radar now. I think the elite question has been answered/

You want elite qb look at A Rodgers and how they operate. Cheatriots have less talent then we do but their offense is always rolling. Trestman, was a mistake. We don't even run zone stretch .

Our secondary is still weak. Ground game is non existant. Pass rush has been subdued. Flacco throwing too many pics, and the freaking untimely penalties. If we lose this Thursday our season is basically over. FO and coaching staff better figure out who they really need going forward.

None of that Jacoby crap. Cut him, then sign him, then cut him and have all this dead money.

Can we please stop calling CIN the Bungles? They have owned us for the past 3 years winning 5 of the last 6 games. We lost the right to mock them. They will be mocking us soon if we don't straighten this team out.

I don't see why we don't get Jeffries. The situation to me is perfect. So what if he is here for one year. We will have Perriman for sure for next year and this gives him time to get used to play without having the pressure of being the "man". We would only have to pay under 1 mil to get him for this year and if we cant sign him next year, that's ok. Maybe we have learned our lesson and maybe we do sign him since Smith is gone next year. Listen, we cant draft a receiver, we cant develop a receiver, we need to go get one. Jeffries is coming off an injury but is now ready to go. We need help NOW. Ozzie needs to jump on this. We have the space, we have the need and it would be nice to have him next year, and we can if we spend the bucks, but if not, then that's ok too, we need him NOW.

Shockingly, I agree.

The offense put up 17 points against Cincinnati... all in the second half. Not unbelievably awful, but certainly not impressive.

In actuality, as bad as the defense played (and they were bad), they were actually quite good in the first half and basically gave up a "net" of 18 points in the game, considering they scored a TD for us also.
