Trade Steve Smith away to a real SB contender

153 posts in this topic

I can understand being optimistic on him but the reality is that he hasn't played a down yet with the Ravens and even if he comes here next year and crushes it, it is clear from what we have seen that we need more there once SSS goes or we have the same problem as this year, only difference is Perriman takes SSS's role.

Maybe by then we've spent time developing Waller, Aiken or Brown....  I'm an underdog kinda person...  I like Aiken.  I think the guy fights for every pass and every yard.  Brown in the slot has struggled.  But I also think Waller has a crap ton of potential.

T Smith was heavily critized for his efforts on the field. It was because we all wanted him the #1 so bad. We needed him to be the guy and he just wasn't. He was good, very good for us. But that play and plays like that is what has and will always seperate him from receivers like Steve Smith.....Steve was brought in to be #2 maybe #3.....but on will alone he became 1 and look at him now. T Smith put his head down and gave up on the ball without trying. That was a sorry effort....I hated to see him go and the fact that he went for what appears to be a couple million more was upsetting.

Yeah that is true, at least we have Engram to develop these guys. I feel like this offense would be so much better though if we got a legit #2, keeps some pressure off SSS and puts the guys further down in better matchups. Really would make quite an impact for us, especially if they were a deep threat.

Aiken shows promise actually, he showed flashes of our old #81,by seasons end he may be legit. Seriously just needs to fine tune those routes, because he's not shaking anyone right now. I wish we could have teamed perriman with Sss, but it just wasn't meant to be. But this offense will have a game or 2 this year where they really show their hidden potential like a Tampa Bay game (o line just needs to continue to gel)

Let It be known that Pees, Harbaugh and Ozzie are responsible for Steves final year being a disappointment.

I think if we lose the next two, which I expect ,we should trade Smith Sr. for a decent draft pick .

It would only be fair. There are very few players on this team that play like a Raven but he is one of them ,

Give him a chance to go out on top!

Does anyone really think we would get anything worthwhile for him?  Especially considering he has a broken back?   ^_^

He doesn't deserve to go out like this. I'd be happy to see him go to a real contender

I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see him on the Packers or Cardinals. The Patriots or Steelers, eh, not so much.

Yeah I know it won't either. Would be fun though and would give me more reason to root for that team. Guy came here to get a ring and to put it frankly, we failed him. Maybe we win a couple more games with SSS but I'd much rather see him get a ring as oppossed to putting it all out there for this mess.

sadly he is one of my favorite ravens on the team, since he is one of about 5 or 6 that actually play like they want to win, but he needs a chance to go out on top. to be the organization that ruins his last season is sad

I'm not going to lie. This thought went through my head, but only if we were eliminated from playoff contention. There is plenty season left. Around this time last year, people said Brady was finished and he proved them wrong. He showed them that he still had many more ways to cheat up his sleeves...

But look at the facts, the season is over. If we're 6-0, 5-1, 4-2, 3-3, or even 2-3, we have a chance. Not at 1-5. There is no such thing as an 11 game winning streak. These aren't the 2000 Ravens. Losing to the Raiders was questionable. Losing to the Bengals didn't help. Losing to the Browns salvaged all hope completely. Steve Smith deserves better. You know it and I know it.

I was against this before, but I wouldn't get mad if we were to actually do it. Steve played his butt off against the 49ers. He deserves better.

Honestly, if im Oz and John, i bring him into my office and ask him what he wants to do.  But honestly, i really think he would chose to stay, i dont see him jumping ship, i dont think thats his character

This is the stupidest idea, and most desperate idea I have heard.  Do you guys really think he's here for only that reason? And he's not going to draw what you would need. He will be instrumental in the development of guys like Givens, Perriman, Brown, Campanaro, etc. etc. etc.

Trade him to carolina. Let him retire there.

Makes the most sense to me.

steve smith and cam newton don't get along. steve smith is a team cancer that undermined cam newton.

he ain't going back to carolina unless it's a 1day contract to retire.

Steve smith wouldn't ditch his team mid season. He'd be loyal to the Ravens if we were 1-15. Just the type of guy he is, he will go down fighting. I'd leave it up to him but don't see it Happening. I'd also ask him to stay the final year on his contract and tell him he can take off as much time as he needs whenever he wants. He's earned it.

I irony of using the word stupidest to insult always makes me laugh.

I like how you threw Camp in there, sadly i dont think he ever amounts to anything due to health

Developing who?

Marlon brown is done developing

Aiken is done

Butler on the practice squad is done

Camp is glass

Givens is what he is

This team has no WR and even if they did couldn't develop them , your optimism is reeking if purple shaded glasses

Givens is the only WR that caught more than one pass yesterday....  I like the kid.  Purple shaded glasses, maybe, but my entire point is that I'm looking forward...  maybe not this year...  but I refuse to throw in the towel.

Targeted twice...  caught two....

I was counting the WR's... That was my statement (not counting SSS),  not Forsett, Juice or Gillmore, or Williams.

(and I forgot the other one Aiken caught, because he dropped how many?)

Go back to the list that RedLobster put up there that I quoted..
