Could the Ravens be considering a trade for (insert WR here)?

578 posts in this topic

I don't think it's going to happen of course, but there's no harm in at least making the call and seeing what it would take.  We could use just about any proven commodity at the position right now.

I just know it's not Jeffery. Upsetting sure, but it's not him. If it is. I will happily eat my words with a side of fries.

I don't think so either. Q may not be happy, but the niners might be way too stubborn to let him go.

Something tells me we're stuck tbh. Ray Rice's deal man

Cap presents an issue unless we get some extensions done.  Not just for this "deal" but for pretty much all of them at this point.  Brian McFarland has us at about $1.5M left.

Unless we extend a guy like Yanda or Tucker to free up some cap.

Yep.  Those are pretty much the 2 options.  I don't see another contract that can really be touched at this point.

well then it is probably some underachiever again. Those are usually cheap

The Dolphins make the most sense to me as a trade partner.  They're clearly circling the drain, and I imagine they want to start getting Parker some more reps.  Jennings, Stills, and Matthews might all be available, and I'd obviously much rather have the last 2 there.

Although I'm not a huge fan, I would think someone like Jeremy Kerley could be in play as well.  He's pretty much relegated to the slot, and has performed decently there in the past.

That would suck for Stills lol... I'd take Matthews

I would love to see Anquan smitty and a speedster on the field. I would absolutely love it. My two favorite receivers of last generation.

I'd take Stills, but for what it's worth, I was actually reading a few weeks ago a lot of speculation that Kerley was on the trade block because Chan Gailey saw no use for him in his offense. May have been during the preseason. I don't know, it'd be a decent trade.

Kerley has never been a bad player, but he's never been anything special either.  It makes sense that he'd be available.  Marshall, Decker, and Smith are all clearly ahead, and even Owusu and Enunwa are playing above him.  As you said, Gailey just doesn't have a role for him in that offense.  My biggest issue with Kerley is his hands.  He's been known to drop quite a few.  I also feel like he's one of those cheap additions that we'd be looking for, though.  $2M base salary, but doable with some movement.

I would gladly take anquan back. His fire combined with Steves would be the jolt this team needed. One way or another we need another PLAYMAKER.

Boldin doesn't have much left, rather not get him.

Even if we do get him he'll be a free agent after this season. Whats to lose?

Boldin was one of the "Monday Practice Mutineers" so they likely won't attempt a trade, even though he would fit the bill.  Instant Rapport won't matter.

Disagree his tank is empty. 1000 yard seasons in 2013 and 2014, but this year not so much.  Kaepernick has been truly horrible.

The Cap issue would definitely be an issue too.  The Niners gave him his 6 million in 2013. "Sportrac" has him with a 5.5 million base salary for this year.

Too bad, such a tragic story.

I'd laugh if we got him back for a 7th.

I love Q... I really do. But the fan backlash would be way too much for me..."We shouldn't have gotten rid of him in the first place" I understand he's not happy in SF. But man. Not him.

Something tells me, we're looking for someone tallish. That's something Trestman digs

Whether they trade for another wr or not, now that Steve is sidelined for awhile, increased reps for others will hopefully result in dramatic improvement in chemistry with Joe. At the least, questions will be clearly answered quickly about the rest of them.

Trade Webb for a reciever that way we can afford who we trade for.

Webb is still on the right side of 30 and , sadly , would be the #1 on some teams.

Given the contract of Webb, injury history, and that no he wouldn't be the #1 corner on any team, this seems unrealistic.

You MIGHT end up with another Chris Givens type WR in this kind of trade...

All the Corners for the chiefs died , Grimes for the Phins got hurt. The bears can't cover much , The raiders top Corner is D.J Hayden , I don't even know the guys starting for the Niners at corner Etc.

Webb is a former top corner who is currently healthy and can manage , not shutdown , but somewhat manage top target.

I don't think our secondary is that good that we can survive trading one of our starting corners.  Will Davis played well but we still need Webb this season.  He is healthy and playing competently for us right now, now need to unload him

But you just picked a bunch of teams who basically have no playoff hopes... why on Earth would they want to take on a high cost corner? How do they benefit from that long-term?

I'm trying to figure out when fans decided that the NFL has turned into the MLB trade deadline, where bad teams sell off all their players and the good teams all buy them. We've already exceeded by trade expectations for the season by giving up a 7th rounder for Givens.

I mean the Bears traded two largely unproductive players and all of the sudden we decide that any team that is going nowhere is just going to trade us whatever we want?

And this ignores the biggest elephant in the room, which is that WE ARE 1-3. We are just as likely to be "sellers" as we are to be "buyers", even though the whole seller and buyer thing doesn't really work in the NFL.

That is exactly what will happen, Fuller and Jeffrey for a 7th

I find most on here hilarious with their positions when it comes to potential trades and the value they put on certain players in those trade scenarios. "Webb is a bum and always injured"...next breath "but hes a #1 CB and on the right side of 30". Ha!

Peter King said Andre Roberts could be a possibility. Makes sense. Another somewhat productive slot guy. Going off of memory, I believe he has some returner experience as well.

I have been trying to make the same point.

They just don't understand how it works.

Of course Ozzie is going to make some calls, due diligence. But that's about it.

Would Anquan Boldin suddenly turn this offense back around? Probably not. I think everyone forgets how dude would disappear for 2 or 3 games at a time, then have a monster half in a game, then disappear again. Now he's old..er

eh, I think a lot of his "disappearing" had to do with a torn meniscus.  Returning after surgery in 2012 he was THE beast and helped get us through the tournament.  I'd take him in a heart beat, but it ain't gonna happen.

The problem for me is I think the fan reaction is that they still for some reason see us as legitimate contenders, which I don't. I haven't seen anything in four weeks to indicate we are a legitimate playoff threat in this league. That could change, but so  far, I haven't seen it.

As such, I can't see any way adding a veteran as other than a one year rental with the sole purpose of just filling a roster spot does to make this team better. I mean if we lost to Pittsburgh, we're realistically probably having a different conversation, and we'd be in full blown young talent evaluation mode.

For me, just beating Pittsburgh in a game where we didn't play that well isn't sufficient to all of the sudden makes us trade buyers and trying to salvage something that I personally don't think is salvageable.
