Could the Ravens be considering a trade for (insert WR here)?

I think teams are probably trying to bust Him in the head knowing how desperate we are. Ozzies not gonna get bent over. He also may be waiting to see what happens Sunday, or other teams maybe waiting as well. A win for us and the season will still be looked at as salvageable, a loss for another 0-4 or 1-3 team like the bears or lions and they may be more willing to part ways with one of their receivers. Heck, maybe Aiken and brown come out and set the world on fire. ....long shot I know.

I actually think Aiken will look good this weekend. He's been getting open, Joe's just been locked in on SSS. Not a coincidence Aiken looked good when he went out.

If givens can look threatening deep early, I fully expect things to open up a bit and Aiken, the TEs and the run game to have a good day.

I have a gut feeling we run the ball on 1st and 2nd down for 8-9 yards. Then on 3rd and short we go play action deep to Givens for a big play.

Or even if not 3rd down bc Forsett rips a big run, results still the same.

My opinion he is the best WR on the jags. Remember production is all bout system and chemistry. Steve Smith and Chad Johnson were at the same community college. Both were outproduced by another obscure WR. Marqise's injuries are minor. No reason to believe they will linger. As far as talent he is a phenom!! Watch his games and practices. He has all the talent of amari Cooper. He needs some coaching on hand placement but he has lightning acceleration, top notch athleticism, ridiculous burst and flexibility in his routes and he will catch in traffic. I maintained Steffon diggs had legit talenttalent to be a great wr that would show with a proper offense and qb. I liked him better than perriman actually not that I dislike perriman. But In my humble opinion he has better functional route running speed and shiftiness. Marqise has very similar skillset to amari Cooper. He would not be the first WR talent to flourish with a change of scenery.

"All the talent of Amari cooper"... Get real man, he's nothing special.

What if Tate is Barry Church?

Ugh no. Why does this have to be in Ravens talk? I have the perfect gif for this!

So now we have to give up a first rounder for him? Damnit

As far as I'm concerned, if we give up a first for Barry Church we fleeced the Cowboys. Forget this Great Trade Robbery business, that would be the new most lopsided deal.

What you say makes sense, but how do you pay them was my point. What draft pick will the team be willing to give up? then how do they keep him financially, next year. Not sure I am totally up on team financial health but I don't believe it's going to happen unless another WR gets injured.

If the team cannot function without the addition of one player, they are already in deep, deep trouble.

Im not good with cap situations either, but i do know Rice and Ngata's money will be off the books and we will have the money to sign players next year.  Also, pretty sure Joe will restructure his contract but we do need to sign Yanda.

Its not that we are one player away from functioning, we have just taken a hit from so many ways: Suggs, SSR, Camp, Gilmoore, Monroe, BP....if one of those players gets hurt we are ok. but the best defensive player we have and the best offensive player we have (Dont count Joe)...a LT, it just adds up to be too much when we dont have the depth to make up for it.  Our WR group is a joke and i hope im wrong about Aiken and he goes off this weekend, but honestly i cant think of a worse Wr group in the league, even when we have SSR on the field.  Titans maybe?

sidenote- givens has more career yards than our entire WR corps not named SSR....

Man enough is enough we need to give up a high draft pick for a big-time wideout.

Best idea yet!! Every year WR is a weak position for the ravens. Drafting WRs has never been Ozzie's strength. Last year we were a complete WR away from another Superbowl grip. Same could be said for many other seasons as well. Every year it is some band aid at WR.Joe Cool has proven what he could accomplish with a legit unit of weapons. So why does oz continue to throw junkyard parts on a Ferrari?? Some very talented WRs were ignored in 2014. In 2014 Allen Robinson should have been the pick in rd2. Or this year oz should have traded up for amari Cooper or white and finally fix this WR issue. That is why I like Marqise Lee. He could be a long-term answer at WR while on his rookie contract and no real cap hit. Trading a #2 or multiple picks on a young stud WR is not mortgaging the future because a WR is needed anyways. I have doubts about perriman as a #1. I do not see 4.3 play speed nor any real wiggle, suddeness or craft to his routes. I would have liked for them to have double dipped at WR and drafted somebody like Diggs,Lockett, green, crowder, strong or anybody other than the straight linish slug Waller. My opinion Diggs had a skillset close to Cooper as does Marqise Lee. All around 4.45 guys but good functional play speed, flexible routes and athletic body control. Diggs was held back in college with injuries and qb play. I actually liked Diggs better than perriman. Not willing to pay currency or significant draft picks is why is reason WR is a need!! I do like Perriman but noway he should have been a round1 pick In my opinion. I am sure oz targeted some other players that were already drafted before the ravens were up because oz is unwilling to trade picks to move up. Trading a round7 pick for a teams #6 WR is not fixing the WR problem!! As for maxx Williams he is not an upgrade over Gilmore. In my opinion he does have skills for an Out of shape TE. At the combine he looked like a fat WR. I do think he could be one of the better TEs in the nfl if he adds some muscle and leans up. But Lockett or Gregory should have been the pick

If Ozzie held back from improving the team bc he was banking on a top 15 pick... I'd seriously question him contuing as our GM.

Were 1 game back from the WC with a team Ozzie assembled. If he doesn't think this team can compete then that means he consciously constructed a flawed team.

Sure we've suffered losses but every team does and most should be back in just a couple weeks. If he feels the team is beyond needing just a key addition here or there to fight for a playoff spot; then I don't want him leading this franchise.

Of course I don't want him throwing picks around, or giving up a 1st or 2nd. But if he can get value in return, especially a player like Tate for a 3rd... Where you feel pretty good that you'd be lucky to get a player of his calibre in the 3rd, and he'd be a part of the team for a few years going forward even if the wheels fall off; then absolutely you explore the option or I'd question your motives.

That's exactly what i was trying to say - just because we're not willing to mortgage the farm right now doesn't mean we're done trying to improve this year, or don't feel we can stilll be competitve.

I just get a little frustrated with the doom and gloomers saying our season is over after 4 hard-fought games

I like Tate & all, but do you think he is talented enough where he can line-up in both the X & Y WR positions simultaneously?

I was thinking HB and the X because he was a high school running back

Just out of curiousity... why can't Marquise Lee get on the field in Jacksonville, who isn't exactly known for its plethora of talented WRs?

Hint: I already know the answer, and the answer is why he likely shouldn't and won't be a Raven.

And second-guessing what should have happened in the past never does any good for the present or the future. Can't make this team any better that way.

While i agree we should go after a elite wr so we could be set for years, ill address some odd statements in your post

-we were not a wr away from a SB.  Our secondary was destroyed and we could stop the patriots from being down two touchdowns, twice.  A wr has nothing to about that

- No possible way.  To move down from 26 to a top 10, let alone a top 5 would cost us a insane amount, while i agree cooper would be amazing here, its not worth giving up 3 or 4 picks then be stuck with all those holes

-Max williams is still a kid, he needs time to develope, no TE comes in and just dominates.  patience is key

It took Gilmore a season to come on and Maxx is twice the reciever Gilmore was coming out of college.

But Maxx does need to get in shape.

When does Pitta get back?

you have ridiculous solutions to our problems, you overrate other teams players, underrate ours, and generally sound confused. marqise lee is about 1% as good as you claim he is, stefon diggs has an injury history and a tiny little frame and if he survives in the NFL then its a surprise(theres a reason he went so late). maxx williams is going to be a stud, dont worry, the kid is too natural a talent with his insane vice grip hands and dense body. and gregory? the dude was high as a kite AT THE DRAFT, youll see why we didnt pick him before his rookie contract is up, trust me on that, people were saying the same when justin blackmon and josh gordon were playing, look at them now.

Totally agree with most you said!! Maxx has serious skills but he bothered me when he seemed totally clueless he would have to get in better shape to be successful in the NFL. It was like culture shock to him. But did not they only find trace amounts in Gregory?? With all the problems at WR nobody seems to notice the defense's rush has been kind of weak. With Suggs and Dumervil on the wrong side of 30 I just think a young stud speed rusher to learn under Suggs and Dumervil should have been a priority. And I know I am off subject here guys but allow me to touch on this. With today's NFL throwing the ball around like never before I think a dominant edge rusher and an all around ferocious rush is the key to another Superbowl!! Not a decent edge rusher but a dominant edge rusher to set the table for the defensive charge after the qb. And they are very expensive and very tough to find. And in my opinion Gregory's potential reward far outweighed his risk. We are not talking a top10 pick here we were talking a late round2. They will not touch Gregory's talent for less than a $70million dollar contract or top15 draft pick. As for marqise Lee I like him because II know a jaguar fan that lives 20 mins outside Jacksonville. And every jaguar fan can see he has legit skills. The injuries are a concern yes. But his slow acclimation to the offense is more on Bortles. Jag fans who watch him practice rave about his upside!! He is so fast and sudden in his breaks that Bortles has trouble timing him. The fans there that watched practices are upset about the minor injuries but they are more frustrated at Bortles and coaching for not getting him in the offense. I like hurns a lot but jaguar fans know marqise clearly has more speed and upside. That is what is coming from jaguar fans. They know marqise is just as good as Robinson, a little different kind of WRs and they feel them 2 receivers could be dynamic together. Outside the injuries The frustration in jaguar city is at coaching and Bortles for not getting him into the offense because they see the upside. It was just an idea to try to trade for him. I really doubt they would trade him yet because of his upside.

Dense body?? Look at his combine pics. Especially running the 40. He looks like a WR carrying extra 20 lbs of flab. He has skills yes but he won't be a pro bowler til he gets in shape. Question is will he develop an NFL TEs body. Does he have the drive. In my mind he should have taken nutrition and training more seriously already. Not get to the NFL and get culture shocked at the muscularity, conditioning and athleticism of the pro players. He said himself he needs to cut out junk food and take training more seriously. He should have already been doing that!! Gronk entered the league already taking that stuff seriously!! I think maxx does have pro bowl potential but coming into the NFL fat and eating junk food and not spending enough time on the in the weight room and practice field is frustrating.

Deonte Thompson looked pretty sharp last night aside from the bonehead penalty. I've heard his name floated out there a couple times, and the Texans are 1-4 so they may be willing to part ways. Have no idea what his contract looks like or anything so he may not even be feasible, just a random thought.

a 2nd round pick is not worth a guy who will likely be facing season long suspensions at one point, i dont care if its a 1 year rental for jj watt, a 2nd round pick is precious currency. it doesnt matter how trace the amounts they found were, gregory has admitted to having a psychological dependance on a substance banned from the NFL, that in my opinion is a big enough red flag to pass on him until at least the 4th, he is like justin blackmon and ricky williams in the fact that he just mentally doesnt function properly over the long term without weed, some folks are just like that and i dont see a problem with it personally, but i dont want my team spending high currency on a guy who cant put down the dutchie because they will be missing playing time at some point and its wasted roster and cap space and a wasted pick. as for maxx, he was 20 when he was drafted, and a sophomore, its gonna be curve there, and yes he has a dense body, a basic comprehension of physics makes that apparent when you watch him play. he isnt very large, he isnt very fast, he doesnt run very low, but you still see defenders bouncing off of him violently, he makes boys out of men when he runs through tacklers, that means that dudes got some density in him and when his body gets on an NFL level he is going to be an absolute freak.

We had 2 14 point leads against the Pats. Offense wasnt the problem. It was the secondary,

Name an "elite" WR that's won a super bowl recently. Dez? D. Thomas? Calvin Johnson? Larry Fitz? Antonio Brown? Brandon Marshall? Julio Jones? No, no no no no no and no.

While not necessarily elite in all cases most recent Super Bowl champions have had a true number 1 receiver that the QB could depend on.

2014: Brady had Gronk

2012: Flacco had Boldin

2010: Rodgers had Greg Jennings

2009: Brees had an in his prime Colston

As for Fitz, he played a big role in getting his team to the dance and would have one if not for last minute heroics from Big Ben and Santonio Holmes (who had one of the best games of his life). Teams don't win champions with a below average group of receivers. And the Ravens have been burned in the past by receivers dropping passes in important moments, including in that game against the Patriots.

hit the nail on the head. dropped passes may be the most devastating mishap in big playoff games. brady may have had his SB dreams cut short in SB46 with welker dropping a pass he reall should have caught, we have seen flacco execute beautiful drives and deliver pin-point game winning TD passes only to see them bounce out of the receivers hands or most recently see his receiver get scared and give up on his route. you just will not go to the big dance with dropped balls, because they so often seem to come in the most inopportune times. i simply dont trust any of our receivers at the moment and IF we make it to the playoffs and somehow scratch our way to the wire with some juggernaut, it is gonna come down to 2 things, can our safeties defend the deep ball? and can our WRs catch the inevitable drive-continuer or game-winner at the end?
