Could the Ravens be considering a trade for (insert WR here)?

@incarceratedbob: **NFL RUMORS**

if only the rumors were true. I'm sure Baltimore would love to have him back. And I'm sure throwing to boldin would be a breath of fresh air for Flacco. Would be nice to get him before the San Fran game too. He could give us some "intel"

It's Preston, so take it with a grain of salt of course. Still not saying this means Alshon...

@MikePrestonSun: Ravens aren't holding still, very active in looking for another receiver. Oz is on the hunt.

I tend to believe Preston. He's been with The Sun since the late 1980s and covered the Ravens since the team's inception. He's bound to have some front office connections.

Im not too big on Roddy White. He hasn't had QB problems and is in a great team. I don't see him as a guy with a lot to offer. Id prefer AnQuan but how are we going to make the cap work?

Roddy White was actually the one I was about to come post about. He's been getting open, but when you're in the same offense as Julio Jones, who do you think is going to get looks? He's obviously not a one anymore, but he can be a good two and a very high end three if the Ravens got Perriman back and a good draft pick.

What's most enticing is he's under contract for two more years after this.

I'd take a chance for a low draft pick. He's unhappy as hell in Atlanta and he'd be really cheap

Trading team converts salary to signing bonus and eats the cap

Reports are coming out about teams wanting Roddy White. I think we're among those teams.

I cant see ATL parting ways with him on the cheap after him on their depth chart the WR position is Raven-esque like in talent. In addition ATL has looked legit.

Ah yes, but at the very least we'll be lucky hes on his last year of his contract. Id love to do it, I feel like he can have a James Jones like effect. No saying that because of system, this is a different offensive system but rather his chemistry with Joe.

roddy white shows frustration with loss of targets..

I don't understand what makes everyone think alshon Jeffrey is in play all of a sudden because the bears got rid of an aging pass rusher who didn't fit their scheme, and not take a loss on him

This is pretty much wishful thinking on the part of over zealous ravens fans

This could be a sign of desperation from the fans attached to a 1-3 team.  There are 13 1-3 teams out there. Ravens are in an unusual spot and this Bears fire sale has ignited the fever.

The Boldin story is one for panic people as well

It seems like Leonard Hankerson has been beating him out of targets as well and has been mention since training  of being a solid threat to take Roddy White job as the number 2 receiver. It seem  like he has been during that but Hankerson also is  one Kyle Shanahan  favorite receiver since they have history back in their Redskins days.

I don't know if White just isn't that good any more or Shanahan just like his guys.

shanahan is definitely the type of coach who discriminates for his personal favorites, he may be one of the worst in the league when it comes to that. roddy white is still capable and is better than any wr we can possibly field right now, and will likely come relatively cheap.

something gives me the feeling that the ravens arent even looking in that direction though, but you never know, ozzie loves inquiring and just maybe they call them up and say "give us a 6th next year and hes yours", ozzie would pounce.

Pass on Roddy White. I want guys that can be here long term. It's pretty evident that we can't develop a reciever to save our life.

so, if we cant develop receivers, why would we draft one? that leaves one option, trade. and we arent trading for any long term wide receivers midseason.

if ozzie is interested in saving the season, its a move he should consider as its one of the only moves that make sense and is feasible. if ozzie is interested in just playing the season out and continuing to rebuild, then by all means dont go spending future draft picks on 2 years rentals. but rest assured, ozzie is wanting to save the season.

Perhaps it's time to change the title of the thread.

The time to change the title of the thread was before the thread was even made...

why..?

It's more or less a topic discussing WR for whom we (the Ravens) may trade. The topic title suggests it's about the possibility we traded for Jeffery. I don't see how Roddy White as a possible trade option relates to the possibility we trade for Jeffery since nobody is discussing Jeffery in relation to us trading for White. This is now, more or less, a WR trade topic that discusses options and rumors

I still want Alshon more because he is a young WR just before his prime. Bears aren't that stupid so I doubt we could get him. The only reason I would want Boldin again is to ensure he doesn't go to New England.

Other possible WRs:

- Allen Hurns. Long shot but considering he fits the young WR mold Jeffery does, doubt Jags would trade him.

- Vincent Jackson wouldn't be bad if we want a proven veteran.

- Maybe try and see if Seattle would be willing to give up their Super Bowl hero Chris Matthews?

As much as I want to believe "Incarcerated Bob", I'm treating it as one I'll believe when it happens.

(With that said, it wouldn't surprise me if we'd called, just that I'm a little dubious of it becoming anything more for the time being)

My heart would break watching him in a Patriots jersey

Hypothetical:  Boldin supposedly entices Torrey to join him in frisco then abandons ship to go back to the team Torrey left in the first place to be in frisco with him?
