he showed a lot of what he's known for and if anything I think it raised more concerns about Stanley than anything

Thats what i started to think. I feel lawson gave him trouble with his strength, but check out alexander he had a good game vs nc state. Shoulda had a pick on the last play of film

I just watched Desmond king, and I like him but not for us, he plays the wr well but he looks very stiff and awkward when playing the ball, it's a real concern for me. He would fit in very well in Seattle or Denver, but I think our dbs need ball skills

Desmond King has 8 interceptions in 13 games this season, but more importantly seems to have a knack for turning his head and finding the ball in the air from what I've seen. This was particularly evident against Tyler Boyd, where he gave up 2 catches for 30 odd yards and got 2 picks, including one taken away in the end zone. Could you point me towards the games where he showed poor ball skills?

I was watching Tyler Boyd originally, and there's tons of love for him as a potential second round pick. Based on the Iowa vs. Pittsburgh tape, Desmond King is the better player. And he brings turnover ability, which right now is coming only from Webby in our entire secondary. We are among the worst turnover differential teams in the NFL and our entire franchise history right now, and I think King could really help turn that around.

your right about that. I'd be pretty satisfied if we grabbed king.

I haven't looked extensively into it but I have read things that say he plays the wr too much and when I watched some quick clips of him I immediately thought he looked stiff paying the ball, he was playing it successfully though, that could be attributed to a bad throw as well. But like I said I haven't looked into him very much, I will eventually

Webb apparently doesn't want to play FS full time and still thinks he can be a CB. It's not always as simple as "we pay you and you'll play FS" because you can't really make him do it if he doesn't want to do it. You'll either get sabotage, sedition, or he'll want to go elsewhere.

Then have fun being cut and trying to find some other team to pay him what he's currently getting from the Ravens. He's clearly not the same guy he was a couple seasons ago which is unfortuante. I thought he was really becoming one of the better corners in the league. The constant injuries to his knees and back have slowed him down. So yeah, the team can tell him what to do, he's under contract. If you want to get on the field for the Ravens, it will be as a safety. Have fun riding the bench and not making a market for yourself when you hit free agency.

that's kind of the way I see it as well. He doesn't have much leverage right now.

Harbaugh just declared today that Webby will be permanently moved to FS or nickel. I frankly think it's about time, and could potentially have big effects on our offseason if he is a stud at that role. Safety could become much less of an issue, to the point where VH3 over Ramsey, for example, is an inevitability. Same with KO's move to left tackle. If only we could do something about Monroe's contract. We've really been burned by Rice, Pitta, and Monroe these last few years. 2016 has the potential to be another building year unfortunately.

Although who knows, the 2015 draft class could blow up next year and drag us deep into the playoffs, paired with a quickstarting 2016 class. This offseason is going to be vital.

For sure the right move. Webb just does not have enough in him anymore to play CB. He just cannot keep up with the speed demonds of the league and frankly if he wants to save himself from getting cut its a move he should accept.

I thought I read in the transcripts something about him putting webby where he belongs back in the slot and giving other guys a chance on the outside?

Ok never mind I see.

"[Let’s] talk about Lardarius Webb for a minute. This guy has done nothing but compete and bust his tail and overcome adversity since he has been here. I think he has had two ACLs and a sports hernia surgery, right? He’s fought back every single year from those things, and he’s 30, 31 years old right now; and that’s where he’s at in his career. And when we put him inside at nickel or put him at safety, he has played really, really well. He has still ball skills, he has still [quick] feet, and he has still change-of-direction quickness, OK? We put him outside, and he has fought and competed. But you know what, they found him yesterday, OK? They did a good job with that, with that offense they have and that quarterback [Russell Wilson] they have. That’s not his fault. That’s on us; that’s on all of us together. That’s on our situation. But you know what? We have some young guys that we can put outside. So, we’re going to pull the trigger, put those guys outside, let ‘Webby’ [Webb] go in there where he belongs – let him play the nickel, let him play free safety. He looks great playing free safety back there. We have a nice rotation with him and Will [Hill III] and Kendrick [Lewis], who are both playing well, who do the specific things that they do well. I’m going to tell you what, Kendrick Lewis is running up and knocking people silly, and Will Hill is covering people man-to-man; and he’s tackling. So, I think we have some guys that can ... I know we have a lot of guys that can play. We have to put them in the right spot the rest of the way. Let’s not worry about young guys not [being] ready to play. Let’s put them out there and see what he can do. Let’s put ‘Webby’ where he belongs, and let’s roll. That’s what I’m excited about doing.”

Thats where he belongs IMO, it can also help us shore up FS which will be a hard spot to cover up.

Back from Harbs plans / Webb onto the topic - has anybody heard anything about the possibility of Eli Apple (Ohio State) declaring early? I like that guy's play, especially if we change DB coach and DC and start playing more press.

Nothing confirmed yet, but I remember someone (Matt Miller, maybe?) saying that he's leaning towards declaring.

I'll definitely keep an eye on that. Would fit nicely opposite Jimmy and Webb in the slot.

I think in this day and age it's hard to not declare as soon as you become eligible for upper tier players. Literally going from making nothing to making 6 figures for playing the same game, then there's the horror stories of guys going back to college and suffering a career altering injury or having a terrible year and killing their draft stock like Arian Foster. You gotta strike while the iron is hot, you don't get the same opportunity twice.

We'll see but I think it's hard for guys like Eli Apple to not take their opportunity when it's still right in front of them.

Everything I've seen has him likely to declare early. Probably a top 50 prospect and could break into the 1st round.

If Eli Apple does declare he is arguably the best CB up there with Hargreaves imo. I love the way he plays. I like him more than other guys available. I'd trade up to get him from our second but I think he'll go mid first round.

I'm high on Apple as well. As of right now, Ive rated him as a 1st rounder.

This draft class overall isn't particularly strong but I do think the best skill position players in the entire draft are both DB's. My early thought is that both VH3 and Ramsey will be high on the Ravens board just based on BPA. Really not any premiere offensive weapons in this draft, Tunsil won't make it to us in all likelihood, and I think we really had our heart set on Marcus Peters in the 1st last year and were really disappointed he didn't make it to us. Just my early inkling that we will end up with VH3 or Ramsey.

Why oh why didn't Marcus peters fall to us last year.

Yup we were clearly crossing our fingers for Peters the whole time, I'm sure the whole war room let out a collective groan when KC picked him. On the bright side there's a good chance the Steelers would've picked him ahead of us anyway so maybe it was a blessing in disguise that he didn't go to our arch rival.

A few of us were all over Peters in the pre-draft talk last year, no idea how he fell as far as he did even with the rocky past at Washington. To me Peters was clearly the best corner in the draft after watching the game tape and I laughed when the Vikes took Waynes over him even though I totally expected it.
