[News] Ravens Explain Run Game Woes

66 posts in this topic

Wasted the 1st half trying to get them out of that stuff. Kubiak would have wasted one series then the play calling would have changed. Trestman is too predictable it seems. The defense doesn';t adapt well. No pass rush and no schemes to get one. Good Luck Ozzie is on the way

to good tradable draft picks.

Trestman is used to weapons like Marshall and Forte. He gets here and has a 5'8 Sr., no deep threat, and RB that is usually stopped at first touch. He doesn't have the personnel and the O-line isn't up to par.

Our offense did "waste" the first half against Cinci, just like they wasted most of the game against Denver. Look what we did in the second half against the Bengals, the whole game in Oakland, and the final drive against Denver. We stopped lining up in power running formations, stopped running on first down, and SPREAD IT OUT. When we do that, we move the ball and score points on a consistent basis. Our coaching staff needs to let go of this outdated "run first, power running team" mentality and simply open their eyes and go with what works. Our offense carried us to a SB with our base offense being spread, 3WR, single back formations.

I agree, this year a defensive back can not touch a receiver without a flag coming out. In today's football, the advantage now goes to the passing game. Goodell set it up that way for Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, so we need to get out of the "run first" mentality. You pass now to set up the run.

i miss gary kubiak

I do to in the worst possible way! I bet we would of had something in the win column if he was still here.

kyle juszczyk does not provide value on run NOR pass plays. I don't know where he came from all of a sudden, this season, he's just not effective as a blocker or a receiver. I'd like to see more 2 TE sets, the Ravens have 3 very talented TEs that need the reps even if it means coming from out of the backfield.

Have you watched the games? Juice has been involved a decent amount.

Involved does not equal provided value. If YOU'VE watched the games, you would see that he has PLUGGED running lanes as opposed to clearing them, he's been manhandled at the line of scrimmage and when as a blocker for receivers.
