This is how we rank thus far.

Offense - #8 in passing. #28 in rushing

Defense - #29 in passing. #8 in rushing

Almost a complete mirror image of one another

2013 all over again. But we already blamed that on Rice and Pierce?? It is overly predictable playcalling IMO. Forsett is nothing special and our line has been playing poorly in all 3 games this season. It didn't help that Joe was off his game until well into the 3rd quarter.

flacco said it best"we wasted a whole half running a crappie offense" why didnt harbs urge trestman to change things up. no huddle 2 minute offense would help at times to get the offense out of its funk

Hurst has proven over and over that he isn't starter quality. I know Monroe is out, but we've had enough of a sample size to see he isn't good enough to play to NFL standards.

I don't really see the issue with Offense. I mean Joe is moving the ball and we are getting into the end zone. Problem is we are letting the other team in the end zone more often than we are. I think if we fix the defense (what ever the issue is), then the rest will fall into place.

@Ravensfansince03, you cant keep running the ball in games when your down 14-0 and you attempted 16 carries for 35yrds or something for a 2.7 avg. Monroe concussion has hurt the run game, Hurst has been rated as worst LT in football two straight weeks by pro football focus. Its not like Ravens are going up against bums, Denver,Cinci both top 10 defensive fronts!

Maybe a Oline shakeup is in order... Until Monroe gets back. I do agree maybe bring in Uerschel at G, and KO to T

Why didn't Flacco urge Trestman to change things up

Boy, I'm sure Big Ben is saying, "why couldn't my injury wait till next week." Oh well, thems the breaks, the Ravens certainly get their share of bad ones. But maybe this is the good one they need. Heck, all they have to do is go 13-0 from here on out, and they could still get a bye.

Just like 2013, the run blocking stinks. I don't care much for PFF but Hurst is on track to have the worst season for a tackle they've ever recorded. Seriously.

Someone needs to replace Hurst. Plus we definitely need to establish the run. It would take a lot of pressure off of Flacco and move the chains. There are just way too many 3rd downs.

Hurst (-11.2)struggled both protecting the QB and blocking the run against the Bengals,  the only two things he asked to do. He allowed a QB hit and five additional pressures, as well as six tackles for two yards or less in the run game. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/09/28/worst-players-at-every-position-for-week-3/

kyle juszczyk does not provide value on run NOR pass plays. I don't know where he came from all of a sudden, this season, he's just not effective as a blocker or a receiver. I'd like to see more 2 TE sets, the Ravens have 3 very talented TEs that need the reps even if it means coming from out of the backfield.

Even if we ran the ball, we didn't look good. It's strange because the line didn't change at all from last year. Whatever Trestman changed, it dosen't work for the run.

Actually this article should Read: 1. Poor play calling, 2. Our starting RB cant find a hole bc of a terrible O-line, 3- Forsett lost his burst and has little to zero yards after contact, 4- Why aren't we utilizing Darren Waller in the Red Zone!!!! 6 foot 6 wide receiver%u2026. USE HIM!!!!!!!!!

I haven't read anyone else's comments because I've been seething ever since yesterday!

In 2014, we had Gary Kubiak's scheme firing on all cylinders to very great effect. The Run Game heralded the best Raven Offensive team ever!

Okay, Kubiak bolted for Denver and that was crushing but the moment the FO announced that Marc Trestman was the new O.C., Harbaugh and Trestman both said "We're not changing the offense!

They said "We may tinker here and there but we're not changing the offense!"   :love13:

Well, so far, in 3 games, the Offense looks eerily like the Bears' inept Trestman offense!

I'm not seeing any stretch plays, or Zone blocking. If anything, the guys look confused!

It's not all because Monroe's out! Zuttah looks confused and even the pass protection has broken down as if thee guys aren't talking!  :sherlock:

I'm not giving up on us,... but the writing's on the wall when we're getting beat up by the likes of the RAIDERS!  :oldwiseman:

Of course, there's that crew who'll counter my argument with "Hey, Joe threw for over 300 yards, twice!"

Yay,... //cough// Meh!  <_<

Just betting the game plan for the Steelers is to make us one dimensional by shutting down the run and making us beat them with the pass. I still have no idea why they don't give Hurst some help with a TE the size of Boyle. Hurst's footwork is so slow they just blow by him.

That's probably one of the "Joe threw for 300" crew who negged this before I finished editing it! LOL  :lol3:

“We just need to run the ball better,” added Pro Bowl right guard Marshal Yanda. “I feel like we haven’t gotten it going yet, and we need to just figure it out and get better. And it needs to start right now.”

“We’re running the same stuff and have the same guys in there. It’s just not clicking the way we want it to right now,” Forsett said. “I think it’s little details.”

This article is very reminiscent of one from 2013.  Hmmm, neg me if you want but with these comments...if you have the same guys running the same stuff, why isn't it clicking? It was great when Kubes came in and ran and taught his scheme. Trestman said he wasn't changing anything much. Not much could have changed since Kubes seemed to know how to shut it down in week 1. Surely Harbs hasn't given Juan control of the run game again.  So, are "the little details" something that Juan is doing?  It is a valid question.

I have noticed poor discipline with backside blocking. Where the RB's are unable to get to the hole that is opening because our lineman on the backside of the play have released from their blocks too quickly. From watching it live, it seems like our backside blockers could hold their block slightly longer before they release upfield to their assignments, or they need to deliver a more powerful punch at the point of contact that knocks would be rushers back. Predictable playcalling and abandoning the run can also be blamed. As a playcaller you should use to your advantage the down and distance. When you are in a run/pass situation (Ex: 2nd and 5), run a play that allows you to do both effectively. When you are in a situation where you are showing run or it would make sense to run, go play action (Ex. 3rd and 1). Do not run the ball 3 times in a row unless the defense can't stop it. Forsett is our best back. Taliaferro is a short yardage back. Allen is a rookie who should only be used when Forsett needs a breather. Boom!
