[News] Late For Work 9/28: Patriots' Jonathan Kraft Enjoying 'Sweetheart' Ravens Losses

184 posts in this topic

You all complaining about the schedule are hilarious.  We lost to the Raiders people.  Who did you want them to schedule us against, Polk High?  The Washington Generals?  We can't run the ball.  Our recievers can't get open.  We don't generate a pass rush.  And we can't cover anyone for an extended period of time.  We aren't doing anything well.  It's not the schedule, it's our horrible performance that has us in this position, and our front office that let us go into this season with these deficiencies.

Rumblings about this team's collective work ethic are believable and understandable to me.

When you lose HOF caliber talent (ray/suggs/ed), you lose their leadership as well. All 3 guys were vocal leaders who lead their position groups. Ed reed was a vital part of lardarius webb's development. He showed webb how to properly watch film and work on his craft. Injuries have robbed webb of his effectiveness. However, 2011 webb was amazing. He was one of the best corners in the league, something you would have never said was possible after watching him in his rookie year. Why? He was pushed by one of his leaders to do better. Ray helped suggs become the heady OLB he is. Suggs paid it forward by helping guys like pernell mcphee excel (too bad pernell's gone but it is what it is).

Look at the ravens right now. Who are the established leaders they can learn & pull from? These young guys are learning from each other at this point. That's why some of this team's vets may have been concerned w/ their work ethic. @ the end of the day, this is what happens when vet leadership leaves a team. The bears learned this when they got rid of urlacher. The seahawks learned this when they had to play 2 games w/o kam chancellor earlier this season. The steelers sure as heck realized this after they lost so many vet leaders on that defense the past couple of seasons. It's adjustment time. The future leaders of this team need more time to grow into the players they will be for their careers. Until then, this team will continue to have a leadership problem.

Suggs is still around, Canty is there, SSS and Yanda are there....It is not the veteran leadership we are missing, it is the talent and the coaching!

Our points differential is only -14. We have not been blown out in any of these games. In each case, we've been one big play away from a win. If we can find a way to get that big, clutch play, we start turning these losses into victories. I was hoping Perriman might provide that, but looks like the wait continues. :(

Cinci is a much better team they have been in long time. We are much worse we are not even mediocre.

Most of the problems can be fixed, BUT!! Why do the exist in the first place. Harbaugh reads all the hype about his coaching ability and actually believes it, scary.

If you say Oz has made some really bad moves you get neged, as though anyone cares.

We have a pretty good QB not great but; best we've ever had. We will never know what skill he has because he is constantly put in lose, lose. The front line is ok, barely. Joe has no one to throw to and we have no running game(front line again).

We can't throw the ball, we can't run the ball and we can't defend.

Theirs isn't stacked as ours is... and that's what makes ours so much more difficult.

http://www.steelers.com/cda-web/schedule-module.htm?vv=hd&view=HD&previewMode=true&print=true

You don't consider a five week stretch where you play Seattle, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Denver to be "stacked"? Needless to say, I do. Even their next five games... Chargers and Chiefs on the road, home against Ravens, Cardinals and Bengals isn't exactly appetizing.

Its a crutch to lean on when you're team isn't playing good football. Teams that struggle to win games ALWAYS think their schedule is tough? Why? Because most weeks you're playing a team that is better than you. Right now, until proven otherwise on an actual football field, that's what the Ravens are.

Why am I looking at what the bosses in the Pats organization think about Baltimore?

Who gives a rats a$$? That they have anything to say about karma just shows cluelessNess ! My pridiction is Pats get a severe dose of karma very soon !

NFL Gods, Shmods...

More like NFL Scheduling Squad...

They have been trying to sink this team every year via their rediculous scheduling of our games!

I pretty much expected to start out the season 2 and 2, so we're a bit behind...

With Rothlisberger out for 4 to 6 we may have just got enough of a break to make up the difference.

Does anyone else think the Ravens should shelve Perriman? Ozzie may need to line up a few receivers for a try out. What's up with Forsett? Was he just a flash in the pan and the Ravens panicked to resign him. Use Campanero more, and hope Mr. Gillmore isn't seriously injured.

i hate all these articles about how everyone is accountable. lets be real, the offense did more than enough the last two games to win. this season is on the secondary, period. they suck worse than jerome bettis as an espn expert

Perriman isnt injured. Its a debility he's been dealing with for almost as long as he's lived according to what i've read. its not something that's gonna heal and he'll get over. its gonna be a recurring problem for his entire career, however long that ends up being with a condition like that. no reason to believe Perriman is anything more than a spot play when he's feeling up to it, at this point. He's not that answer, and no one on the waiver wire is either.

Unless every receiver not named Smith Senior magically gets A LOT better, and James Hurst becomes a better LT, we're gonna have to punt on this season.

with typical basement dwellers like the Raiders and the Bills improving dramatically, there's no way the North fields 3 playoff teams this year, especially if VIck is in for the steelers for 6 games, and we keep playing like this. 11-5 is the threshold. 10-6 is pushing it, but doable.

We've already burned 3 of those allowable L's. We're not in a good place.

Just so we are clear about the offense yesterday...

1st half:

Five possessions, 138 yards (average of 28 yards per drive), 3 punts, 1 missed FG, 1 interception, 0 points.

Longest drive was 48 yards, zero trips inside the red zone. Had 10 rushing attempts for 23 yards.

The offense completely slept through basically the entire first half.

We need to stop blaming this on SUggs. Heck we went without Ray Lewis for 6 games and still won the super bowl! Suggs has become Pees scapegoat! Pees gotta go!

that's because Ray Lewis wasnt even the best MLB on our team at the time anymore, it was time for him to retire.

Suggs is not at the same place in his career.

also...Pees won us that superbowl

Completely incorrect.  What Breshad suffered from occurs during adolescence as the body is growing.  Once your body reaches maturity, sufferers no longer experience the same kind of pain.

the offense got lucky and drew a couple of exploitable defenses that couldnt take advantage of our lack of talent and execution.

that wont always be the case.

Why they don't IR Perriman is beyond me. He is a useless waste of a roster slot at this point. Bring in Nicks or Denarious Moore at least they will take the field.

I only clicked the link the morning to post a comment. Seriously!?!? That's the headline we get after a heartbreaker of a home opener after a crushing away stretch? That the Patriot's ownership is happy about it!?!? Come on man. This is the RAVENS homepage right? I reluctantly came here this morning for some silver lining. Like maybe, all three losses came down to the final drive?!?! Or maybe Perriman might have an accelerated return from his mysterious ailment, and he'll bring an added vertical dimension to our team that could put us over that final minute hump? But no, seriously the webpage went with 'Patriots Owners are Happy about Ravens loss." Shaking my head. Why don't you just tell me there's no coffee while your at it. Or that the air conditioning is going to be out for a couple days.

Thanks for the rant folks!

Why is br.com posting garbage like this story? No one cares what that idiot thinks, did the Patriots site admins hack br.com and post this?

what's his actual problem then, if that isnt it? Osgood-Schlatter is all ive heard about regarding him.

in any case, the point stands: its taking too long. we needed that kid weeks ago.

Sort of like how Jason Babin takes the field?

Both of the guys you listed, and basically every street FA available right now, would be gameday inactives, at best.

our problem is we're getting away from runing game, pass-happy , 3 and shorts and we r passing it, crazy.

because the box is loaded against our small RB since none of the safeties have to worry about their corners getting burned.

running into a brick wall is pointless.

Hmm I didn't know Babin was a WR I thought he was an edge rusher. They haven't had any inactive WR's with the exception of Perriman, IR him, bring in a warm body. They shook up the secondary last season it looks like the WR corp can use the same thing.

We've lost 3 in a row. Have we lost 3 in a row in a season before? Probably more than once, but one notable time: in our Super Bowl season.

So - is this different just because it came at the beginning of the season? Not really. The difference comes in that we saw at points earlier in that Super Bowl season that we were good enough to win. Watching this team as they are playing now, it is hard to envision that. Also, that losing streak didn't include any team that looked like the Raiders. To see what the defense is allowing to happen is making it really, really hard to imagine a bounce back of the kind required to get us back into this.

But I'm not giving up on them. That doesn't matter, though, if they all decide to give up on themselves. That is what remains to be seen.

I agree with you. We can believe in our team all day long and say that we can still make the playoffs, many of us do think this. However, if the players themselves don't believe and they are unable to shake these losses, it's not going to matter what we think or say.

GO RAVENS!

It's comments like that from Kraft that should make us proud to be Ravens Fans. Sure, were off to a rough start, but I'd rather be 0-3 as a Raven, then ever be 3-0 as a patriot Cheater. We need to make some adjustments, and win the next 3 games to go in to Arizona ready. Rally behind Steve Smith, and have faith in Coach Harbs to make some changes. He knows football, and will not accept this lackluster Defense much longer. Mr. Biscotti will put some pressure on him this week to right this ship.

I would say yes, but that wouldn't do any good.  I wasn't the one complaining about the schedule, so the quote is moot.  What I was clarifying for some... was the stretch of away games.  The schedule is broken up and not as many away in the beginning like we have.  Theirs are staggered pretty well.  We, essentially aren't home again but once before November 1st.  The end of our schedule is better...  Just sayin'...

Truthfully...  Tell me, how does that sound...  I wonder if Kraft would like a little Cheese to go with the whine...  Still clamoring to the idea that "we told on them" to the Colts....  Bottom line...  THEY CHEATED.

Bend but dont break makes no sense to me in the long run because if you keep bending you will always eventually break. Its unavoidable. This cant be your defensive motto for not 1, not 2, bur 3 years now. Something is wrong with this picture.

When Kraft called Harbs a "sweetheart," he's basically saying Harbs is a female dog. That's messed up. Hopefully, Harbs will uncover another Pats scandal.

We miss you, Torrey. The players and front office said you represented the Ravens well and that you played like a Raven, but when it came down to it, we didn't treat you like a Raven. Now you're stuck with a QB who is just as bad as RG3. At least you have nicer weather out there and have a team that truly appreciates you.
