Can we start Terrence Brooks already?

I agree with this.

Obviously Webb and Weddle are our starters going into the season, but how much do you see the backups getting in? Right now we have Lewis, Brooks, Elam, and Levine as backups and we might add a rookie on top of that too. As you all know, I think Lewis needs to be cut and Levine is basically just a special teams guy and backup if you really need him. Hopefully we end up with Brooks and Elam as the primary backups at safety and a mid to late round rookie in the mix as well. I love the safeties in the draft class this year. 3 mid to late round guys that we should target are Tyvis Powell, Sean Davis, and T.J. Green. I think all of these guys have potential to be steals in the draft and they are all athletic and big which we don't really have right now at safety.

I see the primary backup safety playing a ton. The guy will be used as a rover type in sub packages playing around the LOS. Blitzing, spying, covering check down options and being an enforcer with big hits.

I too think Lewis may be cut especially if a Safety is drafted. The safety position was upgraded but it also got old. Neither Webb nor Waddle are long term options. So it'll be important for guys like Brooks to develop and I could definitely see a mid to late round Safety being drafted especially if someone drops to that 4th round.

I would love if all this came true :)

The thing you all have to remember about the safety position, especially here in Bmore, is that it's one of the toughest positions to learn in terms of coverage.  The greats make it look easy because they are either supremely gifted, hyper aware of the field, or have tons of experience.  Reed was a freak and all our safeties will forever be compared to him just as our ILBs will be to Ray Lewis.  Mosely fits the bill and us getting him after Ray is like the Colts getting Luck after Manning.  I doubt Brooks will ever be any close to Ed Reed.  Reed nailed in his rookie season.

Weddle is a stud safety, but is not close to Reed's level either.  He clearly works hard at his craft and in Pees' system he's probably the best player out there for FS.  Brooks is still raw.  Moreover, he looks like a FS than a SS which is apparent by his injury history.

I also believe Pees' system has a negative affect on the younger guys. Pees system worked a couple years ago because we had Ed Reed back there and since he left it hasn't been close to the same. Maybe it will work better now that we have two older and experienced safeties back there, but how do we ever expect a young guy to come in and do great in Pees' system. I like Brooks at FS too, but I think he could also play SS and it would make it easier on him in terms of coverage which has really been his only weakness.

What exactly is the "Pees system"?

Hint: this is partially a trick question.

Additional hint: playing 10 yards off receivers isn't a system, nor does it have anything to do with Dean Pees.

You know you are not getting an answer,  right?
